One of my friends pursued his undergraduate studies at NIT Calicut. I will try to give an insight into the EEE department at NIT Calicut based on the things I heard from my friend.
Student Crowd:
NIT Calicut has an approximate 50% home state selection policy. So, almost half of the student base is from Kerala. Other than that, there is a major portion of the other half from Telegu states and some from Northern India. So, very few students are from other South Indian and East Indian states.
Faculty:
Laboratories:
The labs in the electrical engineering department are quite decent, and up to the required standard, with some faulty machines too.
Overall, the EEE department at NIT Calicut can be considered a branch with enough resources and strict discipline.
If the arrangement for the fee which is charged by MIT would not be a problem for you then It is suggested that you opt for admission in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering at MIT Manipal. Having some friends studying there I can say that there are many things that make MIT Manipal stand out.
Some of the good things about MIT Manipal which makes it a better option include the following:
Categories | EI at MIT Manipal |
Course Fee | 13.10 lakhs |
Placement Percentage | 80% |
Highest CTC | 15 LPA |
Average CTC | 7.5 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Cisco, ICICI Bank, Mu Sigma, Deloitte, etc. |
Summer internships are available at companies like Western Digital and Reliance for students in their fifth or sixth semester. If you get an internship through campus recruitment, you may be able to convert it to PPO if you do well during the tenure of your internship.
My friends had studied at NIT Trichy in CSE and EEE. The placements for both of these branches are top-notch.
Here are the placement statistics of NIT Trichy for the year 2020.
Total number of companies visited | 220 |
UG Placement percentage | 92% |
PG Placement percentage | 87.1% |
Placement percentage of EEE department | 93.3% |
Average CTC offered | INR 6 LPA |
In the EEE branch, the highest CTC offered is around 32 LPA while the average CTC is about 8 LPA. Some of the top recruiters include Volvo, Wipro, Yahoo, HDFC Bank, HP, HNG, HCL, Godrej, Ford, etc.
During the IIEST Shibpur placements 2022, the highest package offered was INR 45 LPA. During the IIEST Shibpur placements 2022, 776 offers were made and 1022 companies visited the campus.

Leading companies such as Microsoft, IBM India, and Cognizant were among the top recruiters at IIEST Shibpur in 2022. The highest package fell by 13% in 2022 when compared to 2021.
To make an informed decision, it's crucial to understand that changing your choice based on the college you get into won't have much impact. You should acknowledge that Electronics and Instrumentation in BITS Pilani Goa Campus and Electrical and Electronics in NIT Surathkal are two distinct engineering streams with different colleges, and both colleges are excellent in their own right.
Your selection of the branch should entirely depend on your interest. If you are intrigued by electrical or electronic circuits or have been fascinated by electricity since childhood, EEE is the perfect fit for you. Conversely, if you have an interest in instruments or daily life gadgets that make our lives more comfortable, you should opt for E&I.
Keep in mind that EEE focuses on circuit design and development, while E&I focuses on circuit implementation in industries or the real world. EEE is a core branch that concentrates on its domain, but E&I combines all other core branches such as Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, and even Computer Science.
Both EEE and E&I offer excellent job prospects in the market. E&I graduates can work in core fields or software industries. There is a plethora of industries related to electrical and electronics, so EEE also offers ample job opportunities. Therefore, both branches are exceptional in their way. Choose the one that piques your interest and don't sacrifice your area of interest due to college selection.
You will find that both NIT TRICHY and BITS Goa are excellent colleges for EEE, and they can be rated on par based on the following parameters:
If you have a financial constraint, you may find it beneficial to join NIT TRICHY since their fees are less than half of BITS.
Alternatively, if you value having a flexible timetable where you get to choose your own professors, or if you prefer the concept of zero attendance policy, BITS may be a better fit for you.
Keep in mind that BITS does not have a reservation policy for SC/ST/OBC.
NIT Trichy is a better option for EEE. The department has a brilliant faculty. Professors are well-experienced. The peer group is great. You will be among talented students. EEE has a 100% placement rate. Students receive salary packages in the range of INR 4 LPA - 20 LPA. Microsoft, Uber, HLS Asia, etc. are among the major recruiters that take part in NIT Trichy placements.
One of my friends completed her EEE from NIT Trichy. Here is her insight regarding the department and the college.
If you have a good CGPA throughout all the semesters, you don't have to worry because hundreds of firms visit the school each year. Not only that, but in your pre-final year, certain firms may give you internships which will lead you to a pre-selection offer.
Living on the Campus is a great experience. You will feel like you are in a home away from home. When you graduate, it will certainly make you sad. So, try to make the most out of your stay at the institute.
Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) are two different branches of engineering. As some of my friends had these courses, I can share some details about them, later analyzing which you can make a decision.
Because CSE is currently at its pinnacle and will almost certainly reach saturation in the next 4 to 5 years. So, at this time, it would be wiser to choose ECE. regardless of the college, whether it is NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, or any other NITs or IITs in India.
Considering different factors like placements, activities, infrastructure, Electrical and Electronics Engineering at NIT Surathkal will be a better option. The table below gives a brief level of comparison among ECE at RVCE and EE at NIT Surathkal.
