How do I get a package of 30 lakhs in the field of marketing, post MBA from IIMA/B/C, FMS, MDI, SPJIMR, and IIFT?

SS

While many may shed their philosophies on how getting a high package should not be your ultimate goal and stuff, I am here with a different opinion. When you are investing a huge amount of money it is only right to expect a greater monetary benefit and a better lifestyle. So I have mentioned some techniques that will help you land a package of 30 LPA specifically in the field of marketing post-MBA from IIM ABC, FMS, MDI, SPJIMR, and IIFT.

  • The first thing you need to do is lower your expectations as no marketing placements offer a package higher than 25 LPA. These highest offers are made by top firms like Reckitt Benckiser, HUL, P&G, and Asian Paints.
  • You need to figure out what you really are after, a good marketing role or a high-paying job. If you are after the latter I suggest you go for big consulting firms like Mc Kinsey, BCG, or investment banks that offer 30+ LPA.
  • But if it is the marketing role you are after, then make sure your resume reflects your marketing enthusiasm. This will further increase your chances of selection.
  • Performing well in the competitions conducted by your desired company is another way to get a high-paying job.
  • If the Final Placements are your last resort then make sure you have a stable and excellent CGPA. Many companies consider this factor while shortlisting.

These points will help you get your dream job but cannot necessarily guarantee it. It all ultimately depends on your efforts and obviously your luck.

For someone who wants to pursue MBA in marketing which is the best option among SIBM-P, XLRI or FMS?

RY

Studied at Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi

According to a senior of mine, SIBM is a great college and a good option for MBA but still, it is not considered in the same league as XLRI or FMS due to various reasons.

  • Both XLRI and FMS are considered the best marketing campuses of India and have the best faculty in India too.
  • FMS has an edge due to its fee factor which saves students a hefty sum of around 20L for 2 years. This attracts a lot of students here as one can get the best education whilst spending a lot less money than an MBA pursuing students.
  • Its location factor also plays a vital role. It is surrounded by firms and companies which not only ensure great placements but also ensure decent training sessions and internships.
  • XLRI campus is one the best campuses in India and it is said to have a world-class campus.
  • Both FMS and XLRI are prestigious institutes and have built a legacy in all these years.
  • XLRI is the oldest B-school in the country and has the best HR campus as well.

If you have some issues financially and would like to invest less in your degree then FMS would be the suitable option whereas if you can and want to spend more on your degree then XLRI is the best without any questions.

Which college should I choose between IMT Ghaziabad and NMIMS Mumbai for an MBA in marketing?

MY

PGDM Marketing & Media, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (2019)

For an MBA in Marketing, NMIMS Mumbai is the better choice among these. If the steep course fee isn’t an issue for you, go for NMIMS.

Despite having a huge batch size of around 300 students, it receives coveted roles for placements. Some of the job roles offered during last year's placement were Clint Account Manager, Pre-Sales and Business Development Manager, Deal Analyst, etc.

According to NMIMS Mumbai placements 2021, the average CTC received by the top 50 students of Marketing specialization was around INR 25.16 LPA

Among IMI (Delhi), SIIB (Pune) or MICA (Ahmedabad), which of these colleges would be the best for pursuing an MBA in marketing?

MP

MBA from International Management Institute (Graduated 2018)

Among IMI (Delhi), SIIB (Pune), or MICA (Ahmedabad) for an MBA in Marketing, MICA should be your top choice. It's known for providing unparalleled education in Branding, Communication, and Marketing. Although the fee for all the colleges mentioned is on the higher side, the question of ROI does not arise when it comes to MICA's reputation and quality of education.

IMI New Delhi is a decent college, but it's not particularly known for anything specific. On the other hand, SIIB is part of a cluster of colleges and is sought after mainly for the Symbiosis brand. However, MICA has a unique identity and reputation for producing some of the finest marketing and communication specialists in the industry.

Choosing MICA as your B-school will provide you with exposure to a rich and diverse culture, along with an unparalleled learning experience in Marketing and Communication. The college has an exceptional faculty, top-notch infrastructure, and a wide range of industry tie-ups that provide students with ample opportunities to gain practical experience.

MICA's alumni network is also a significant advantage, with graduates holding leadership positions in top organizations globally. Overall, if you're looking to specialize in Marketing and Communication, MICA should be your top choice, given its unparalleled reputation and focus on the field.

What will be the better choice for marketing, BIMM or PIBM? Why?

VL
Vidit Lakhra Posted On : July 26th, 2021
MBA Marketing, Pune Institute of Business Management (2020)

For an MBA in marketing, PIBM is definitely a better option than BIMM. The points below state some of the key highlights of PIBM, along with some advantages and disadvantages of both the institutes, which will support the choice.

  • PGDM from PIBM is a much better choice than that of BIMM, having a guarantee of a secured future after passing out of the institute.
  • PIBM provides the best available training in separate sessions, which is one of the most vital aspects required to get a good placement in MNCs. In such training sessions, every individual is mentored with utmost care and personal assistance methods.
  • Guest lecture sessions are organized by the institute in which mentors from the corporate world visit and guide the students.
  • Throughout the sessions, you will be made to go through several Industrial visits, winter and summer internships, live projects, and assignments. This will offer proper practical knowledge, be interactive, and have good exposure to the corporate world.
  • Various students have been offered PPOs by top companies. In the in-campus placement, every student in PIBM is easily placed, being well trained through the mock GD and PI classes.
  • PIBM does not maximize seats in its batches. The total number of seats available in the institute is limited, which decreases the competition in placement. Due to this low competition in placement, students need not work hard for their preparation.

Talking about BIMM, there are some disadvantages that make it the less preferred option among the two. The main problem faced is the batch size, which is huge. There is a lot of competition in the placement of BIMM just because of this reason. The faculties in BIMM do not pay as much personal attention as required for individual students. This is also an effect of the huge batch size.

Therefore, considering all the points stated above, it is clear that PIBM is definitely a better choice, having a much better training facility and placement than BIMM.

Moreover IILM has 3 campuses in the Delhi and Noida region and also in cities like Jaipur, Lucknow etc. IILM is the better of the two due to the reasons below.

I want to pursue an MBA in marketing as my major. What are the pros and cons of IIFT Delhi, IIFT Kolkata and NMIMS Mumbai?

AJ
Arshit Jain Posted On : February 27th, 2023
Studied at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi

It is important to evaluate IIFT Delhi, IIFT Kolkata, and NMIMS Mumbai for an MBA in Marketing and compare their offerings, including curriculum, placement opportunities, and return on investment (ROI).

IIFT Delhi and Kolkata are both part of the Indian Institutes of Foreign Trade (IIFT) and offer similar programs and opportunities. As such, when comparing IIFT with other institutions such as NMIMS, IIFT is considered to be superior in many aspects.

One of the key advantages of IIFT is its better ROI. The course curriculum is designed to provide a rigorous education with a focus on international business. Additionally, IIFT has a strong track record of improving its placements each year. The current batch of students has achieved the highest placements among all top B-schools, including the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).

In considering these factors, IIFT may be a strong option for those looking for a graduate program in management with a focus on international business and strong placement opportunities. However, it is important to conduct thorough research and evaluate all options before making a final decision.

How is KJ Somaiya for MBA in Marketing?

VA
Vishal Ahuja Posted On : January 6th, 2023
PGDM-IB, 2016-18, KJ SIMSR

KJ Somaiya is well-known for its marketing specialization, but it also provides super-specialized programs like International Business (IB), Retail Management (RM), and Marketing Communication. Because placements are common for all programs, all MBA students can participate in the placement process of any company visiting campus and offering a marketing role.

The main advantage is that a student can study core marketing while also working in a media company, which is primarily aimed at Marketing-communication students. Furthermore, because of the specialized courses, companies come from a wide range of diverse and niche industries. In terms of exposure and opportunities, SIMSR also benefits greatly from its location in Mumbai.
