Why is that BIT Mesra has not gained as much fame as BITS Pilani though it was setup before BITS, with good infrastructure?

KK
Khushi Kaur Posted On : May 10th, 2021
B.E Electronics and Communication Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (2018)

BITS Pilani is located in Rajasthan, which is and used to be a part of India's so-called active north. As a result, BIT Mesra is not preferred by the people of the north, who have better options of IITs and NITs. While some go for the south. It is only an ideal place for Bihar, Bengal, Orisha, Jharkhand, and the neighboring state.

BIT Mesra was ranked 7th by India Today Group Survey, but it remains isolated in terms of fame because students are the biggest marketer for a deemed institution. If you say, “Hey, I am from Bit Mesra,” the likely answer would be, “Is it a subsidiary unit of Bits Pilani?” As BITS Pilani is more reputed.

Here are a few other reasons why BIT Mesra has not gained much recognition among the students.

  • The kind of behavior carried or promoted among teachers is more akin to a school teacher, so the title professor is unnecessary.
  • The management approach at BIT is very bad; there is a lot of paperwork to be done for any minor thing. From the time you enroll until the day you leave the campus you will have to go through many paper works.
  • Off campuses are given no value by the main campus, and this is a major reason why BIT is not mentioned with off campuses. Whereas Pilani has four centers that are advertised, in very good condition, and are given true care by the Pilani main campus. This is a major reason why Pillani is more well-known than Mesra.
  • There is no student council or student politics, and no student welfare council composed of fellow students exists or is promoted.
  • Apart from these, the governor of Jharkhand, who is only present at convocations, is the chancellor of Mesra, while Pilani is completely managed by the Birlas, with MR Kumar Mangalam Birla as the chairman.
  • Another major reason for Pillani's success is the engineering entrance exam pattern. BIT Pilani organizes a separate exam called BIT SAT, whereas BIT Mesra does not take any separate exam.

This all that I have learned through my connections at the institutes. Hope this helps in clearing your doubts.

How is IMI New Delhi? In terms of placements, infrastructure, faculty etc.

SS
Stuti Sonthalia Posted On : March 3rd, 2023
PGDM Big Data Analytics, Goa Institute of Management (2021)

The following answer is based on my brother's experience in IMI New Delhi from where he completed his graduation last year. He mentioned the various aspects of the Institute like placements, infrastructure, and faculty. I have summarized his viewpoint under the following headings

  • Infrastructure: The infrastructure was strictly average and nothing more than that. However, being located in the heart of the city it was easy to access various sports complexes. A basketball and a volleyball court are also available.
  • Faculty: Being taught under such experienced professors is one of the best parts of being an IMI Delhi student. These professors are highly experienced and have a history of extensive research.
  • Crowd: The crowd is a talented pool of students, some even with 99 percentiles. The students ranked well in terms of other aspects also like work experience and overall profile.
  • Placements: Addressing the most sensitive issue, the placements are surely decent enough to get you good company. Many big brands visit the campus and good profiles are offered. You need to fill out the EOI and sit for the company you desire to join. With a legacy of more than 30 years, IMI New Delhi attracts big names to its campus. However, make sure you depend more on your own performance than the institute to guarantee a good placement package.

Overall my brother was very satisfied with the results of the placements and claimed his hard work did really pay off in the end.

How is the infrastructure (hostel rooms and common rooms and mess facilities) at IIEST Shibpur?

CG
Chandrani Ghose Posted On : March 5th, 2021
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur

IIEST Shibpur offers a good infrastructure to its students. Discussed below are various facilities available at the campus.

Air Conditioning: It is as per the departments to whom they supply air-conditioners. Some possess ACs in classrooms, some in labs while some in offices. This varies with the department. None of these is provided in the first year.

Sports:

  • The sports department is pretty good with two good grounds and an athletics department, with people trained in sports science.
  • Each hall as well as the hostel has its arrangements for Table Tennis and carrom. In many halls, arrangements exist for badminton and TT. No pool table is provided.
  • There are tournaments for football and cricket. And there is the athletics day and various sporting tournaments organized by different halls of residence.
  • There are two sports grounds named Lords and Oval which are of excellent quality. Even CAB ( Cricket Association of Bengal ) has expressed their interest in them.

Culture: The student culture is about to change as IIEST will take students from JEE Main or even Advance. Quite some time ago, the school always had a good share of other state students which was considered quite large for a government institute.

Campus: The campus is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in India and there are tons to explore. Seeing everything here needs at least a minimum of 2 years.

Flooding: The place gets regular rainfall due to The Botanical gardens. Yet, flooding is not a problem, usually.

These are the facilities that you can expect at IIEST Shibpur. Hope it was helpful.

How much time will it take for IIIT Guwahati to be fully established (gym, playing ground, different clubs extra)? Are there any plans the institute have for these things?

IK
Ishita Khanna Posted On : April 29th, 2021
Bachelor of technology Computer Science Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati (2020)

A friend of mine is currently studying in the 2nd year at IIIT Guwahati and recently shifted to the new campus. However, the campus is still getting completed with minor changes remaining.

Here’s the current scenario at IIIT G according to him:

  • Gym: It is almost completed with basic types of equipment and benches. For the starting few semesters there were no machines and equipment. However, you can also join various gyms nearby the airport which is in close proximity to the college.
  • Playgrounds: You will see a lot of emphasis on sports and games, not only the outdoor but indoor like table tennis, carom, chess, etc. There are newly constructed basketball, tennis and badminton courts, football and cricket fields also.
  • Intercollege tournaments: You can actively participate in various sports/game tournaments and competitions held by clubs where you can compete against other colleges like IIT Guwahati, AEC, etc.
  • Clubs: You can choose among several clubs, some of them are Reading Club, Programming Club, Music Club, Quiz Club, Literary Club, Movie Club, Yoga, and fitness Club, Dance Club, Photography club, etc.

There are ample opportunities for extracurricular activities besides academics. Also, the recent increase of intake from 90 students to 230 students has led to a significant improvement in these fields. In the end, your interest and participation are what drives the campus.

How is BBA from IGNOU?

RM
Rishabh Malhotra Posted On : November 3rd, 2022
Assistant manager-Inside Sales at Koenig Solutions (company)

Everything in life has advantages and disadvantages. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of BBA from IGNOU:

Pros:

  • IGNOU offers a BBA with a Specialization in Retailing (rather than a general BBA), which broadens your opportunities in the retail sector beyond sales and marketing.

  • Every year, you receive a certificate. As a result, you can begin working immediately after finishing your 12th grade and continue to advance each year. You don't have to wait three years for a degree before you can get a job. You can study while working.

  • Every year, you are given a project that allows you to gain real-world experience in the retail industry and complete it in retail organisations.

  • Retail Associations of India is collaborating with IGNOU-BBA. You will receive the best curriculum for it.

  • The course is written in simple language that is easy to understand, and it includes the best knowledge in the retail specialisation.

  • The cost of this course is the lowest of any university that offers distance education for BBA.

Cons:

  • There is no Math or Statistics subject in the entire BBA course from IGNOU, so it is entirely theoretical.

  • Unfortunately, some prestigious MBA programmes look for a Math subject in the course of graduation when accepting applications. However, there will be many colleges that will accept your degree.

  • Similarly, some government jobs require a Math subject as part of your bachelor's degree programme. However, there will be plenty of opportunities for you in the government. as well as the private sector for employment You can still apply for exams such as Bank PO, SSC, and UPSC.

  • The same exposure found in regular BBA will never be found in distance BBA. The reason for this is that you will not learn how to give presentations in front of an audience, which is essential if you are studying BBA.

This course is not offered in every city. So, before enrolling in IGNOU's BBA programme, you should contact the IGNOU regional centre in your city. Because this course is taken by a small number of students, it is only available in a few cities. However, when comparing distance universities for the course of BBA, it is recommended that IGNOU is the best because of its lower cost, reputation, and educational standard.

Is the infrastucture of BITs Pilani, Pilani worst?

TM
Tanushree Mukherjee Posted On : July 19th, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

BITS Pilani has an overall ranking of 30 by NIRF organization in 2020. As far as I know from one of my friends studying there, BITS Pilani has quite a good Infrastructure and supports the best facilities.

  • Compared to other BITS Pilani’s campuses, the chances are there that Pilani campus hostel rooms are not that great. But they are definitely better than those of many private / Govt. colleges.
  • Pilani campus does provide single room assistance to students from 2nd year and some of 1st-year students.
  • They have State of the Art infrastructure, fully air-conditioned classrooms, westernized washrooms, and nothing worth complaining about.
  • The library is one of the best, as it is beautifully organized.

BITS Pilani campus is growing and developing each day, so it can offer the best to their students. Though everything else concerned it has a better infrastructure than a lot of colleges around that area.

Is there a gym in NIT Jamshedpur?

Karishma Khatri Posted On : May 3rd, 2021

The answer is both, yes or no. It is because there is no separate building for Gym, in which you can get all the infrastructural facilities that are available in the so-called Gym along with the modern equipment.

However, you can get some of the Gym equipment in the hostel rooms. It includes mostly Yoga Mat, Dum-Bells, and Clutches and skipping ropes, etc. This equipment is generally purchased as per the decision of HEC (Hostel Executive Council). Thereby, if you know anyone from this council (HEC), you can get Gym equipment according to your choices. Besides, these are also kept then in the common hostel rooms.

If you are very much serious about Gym, then you can join the outside Gym of the college campus; however, the charges are very ostensible.

Does IIT Gandhinagar have facilities and a good infrastructure?

PP
Poulomi Paul Posted On : March 5th, 2021
IIT GN CSE

IIT Gandhinagar is the only IIT among various other semi-new IITs to have entirely shifted all its premises into its own campus.

  • IITGN is privileged with an afresh 21st-century campus, which is popularly facilitated with all the major necessities. Besides, it also is benefited with enough infrastructure that can weigh up to catering to more than its current magnitude of students as a whole.
  • The new campus of the institution has both capacious classrooms, and small classrooms alongside huge auditoriums, offices for staff members, professors, and faculty employees all anew.
  • Alongside those spacious rooms, it also has newly made 6 hostel buildings and 2 messes with various modernized equipment like wifi routers, smoke detectors, and more devices alike.
  • The institution has a gymnasium, basketball court, cricket ground, volleyball court, temporary athletics track, TT room, and a football ground as well. There are things other than these which students can explore once they visit this vast campus.

Thus, as per your question concerns, IIT Gandhinagar has both facilities and infrastructure at par with other world-class institutes and is yet under development to become better.
