Remarks :
I applied to NIA through the CMAT exam. The cut-off was 90 percentile. After getting shortlisted based on my CMAT score, I underwent a rigorous admission process consisting of WAT, GD, and PI. The process was held in Pune and Delhi for 3 days.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum consists of 51% syllabus of PGDM and 49% of Insurance. You will also have the option of selecting Finance, IT, Marketing, and HR as an elective in 2nd year of the course. Faculties here are from various top PSUs in the insurance sector like LIC, GIC, etc. The faculties are highly knowledgeable with almost 20 years of industry experience.
Internships Opportunities :
Companies like Marsh, AON, Mahindra, Marsh McLennan, Accenture, etc. provide internship opportunities to students. The internship is provided to every student. Various roles or projects like Underwriting, Reinsurance, Data analyst, Business analyst, HR internship, and Marketing intern are offered by the companies. Companies also pay a good stipend to students during the internship ranging from Rs 10000 to Rs 75000 per month.
Placement Experience :
The college has had an excellent 100% placement record since its inception. All the students get placed within a day which is called Zero Day. The highest package for the 2021-23 batch is 18.75 lakhs and the average package is 12.5 lakhs. Students also get the opportunity to get internships with good stipends with reputed companies.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tuition fee is Rs 943000 for 2 years and the hostel fee is Rs 307000 for 2 years. The college holds the record of 100% placement since its inception. The student also gets the opportunity for International Placement along with domestic placements in companies like Marsh, Mahindra Insurance brokers, AON insurance brokers, Accenture, etc.
Campus Life :
National Insurance Academy (NIA) has a 32-acre lush green campus. The hostels are within the campus. It also has a swimming pool, Gym, Basketball court, Indoor Badminton court, Table tennis table along with a Billiards table for the physical activities of the students. There is also a ground for cricket and football. The lecture halls are centrally air conditioned along with projectors and huge white boards. There are various active committees in the college like Placement Committee, Cultural committee, etc. for the overall development of the students.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostels are located within the NIA Campus. Every room is a twin-sharing room with an attached washroom and bathroom. There is a 24x7 supply of hot and cold water and electricity. The water cooler is there for drinking water. There are few washing machines for washing clothes. There is paid laundry service also. Hostel charges are Rs 153500 for each year. There is a huge mess that provides all three meals along with the tea. The quality of the food is very good. The food is cooked looking after the health of the students. Soup, Curd, and salads are served at both lunch and dinner times.
Interview Experience :
The admission process was very rigorous consisting of the Writing Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI). The interview was taken by Senior faculties along with alumni of the college.
