Remarks :
My admission was based on the percentage format. I applied for Sociology Hons. in the year 2021 and got admission to the Second Special Cut-off list. After that year, CUCET has been applied and the entire exam process has been revised totally.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course because after switching from Science, Sociology seemed to be easily relatable. Besides that, I had heard a lot about the fantabulous faculty catering to this field of study. Here, for a batch of 75 students; 2 teachers cater to one subject. Faculties are good, however, some aren't very engaging in their pedagogy. Exams are frequent and it is more of a mediocre level; however, gaining marks is difficult.
Placement Experience :
From 2nd year, students often start looking for placements. For my course, the placement ranges from 5lac to 7lac. However for economics Hons., it may go above 16 lac. The companies who visited the college this year are- Zee Media, EdLighten, NTT Data, etc.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure for Sociology Hons. is good. It's only 14160 for the first year, then 12330 for the second year. So, the average fee is quite less. The placement cell does its level best to cater to every student with some sort of placement. Scholarships here are frequent but mostly of minimal value. Financial assistance depends upon one's department.
Campus Life :
Life in Miranda is very good. I'm not saying it because I owe a lot to this college, I'm speaking genuinely. Our Department Fest 'Utopia' and the Annual Fest 'Tempest' is the best in the whole of Delhi University. The atmosphere here is filled with solace, calmness, diversity, and a lot of zeal. Along with academics, there are lots of other societies namely Tanz, Mridang, Geethanjali, Anukriti, etc. It adds to one's personality and behavior. Miranda provides a unique way of looking at the world and solutions to negotiate with it.
