A life into KMV

Remarks :

I actually graduated from school during the covid time, so there was a bit of apprehension about the college admission process. Before the admissions actually began, a webinar was conducted by the university in order to help the students with the admission process. In the webinar, the professor explained the entire procedure very well. At first, we had to make an account on the admissions portal DU to fill in our details and exam marks. Post the declaration of results of the 12th board exams, we were also asked to set in our exam marks. After that, the cut-offs were realised on the basis of which we could go back to the portal and apply for the college we were eligible for. For Keshav Mahavidyalaya for Psychology Hons, the cut-off was 97% in the third list, making me eligible for the course (best of four). Post application, the documents were sent online for verification after which the admission was finalized by paying the fees. The entire admission process was very smooth.

Course Curriculum Overview :

My interest in psychology developed during school time when i studied this subject in my 11th and 12th. So I felt that this was something that I could definitely take up for graduation. The teacher-student ratio is good. We have 1 teacher for every 9 students. The faculty is very well qualified. The head of the department and the teacher in charge are professionals in the field of counseling psychology and clinical psychology. The other faculty members too are highly qualified. The teaching methods however are something that is of major concern. Most of the teachers rely on PPTs rather than actually explaining things via exposure which makes learning things about psychology a little boring and mundane. The exams are at a shorter distance, in about 4 months each semester comes to an end which makes it difficult for the faculty to finish the syllabus on time. the exams are very easy and the questions are very to the point and easy to pass.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure in the entire university is very affordable and convenient. The fees do not hike for the most part of the year. Additional to the tuition fees, exam fees are also taken into account. The campus provides scholarships for people who can't afford education.

Campus Life :

Our college has an annual cultural fest- Tryst that is conducted in April every year. We have a tech fest that is conducted by the departmental society of the CS department- Blitz. The library is full of good books and journals and in ample quantity. Classrooms have projectors and screens. We have many societies like Western dance, Indian dance, music, photography, debate, poetry, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I was from PCM (science) background in 12th board and I literally wanted to shift in the course of the art. And science students always look for what best subject in art which is ECONOMICS and we choose this. And the second reason is Economics is something challenging and It provides you to think bigger and know about the money and market. So these are the reason I selected this course. My class has 40 students and except for the Micro teacher, No one teaches very well. We are the first batch of CUET and we just got approx. 3 months to prepare for the semester with an increase in the subject. So that is always hard when you are getting experimented with new things.

Placement Experience:

Students from 2nd year or 5th semester are eligible for pre-placement offers. However, 1st-year students are eligible for internship opportunities only. Around 40 companies visited campus with their placement offers for Bcom. Hons, Bcom, B.A Hons Economics, & some BSc courses. Companies included some Big4 companies like KPMG, Deloitte, E&Y, Wipro, HCL & many more. My plan after getting the degree is to go for MBA or MA in Economics.

Students become eligible from the 6th sem to sit for placements. Companies offering 6 lac to 37 lac visit the campus every year. I was placed in a multinational company with a very good package. People from stats maths and eco courses have higher chances of placement though.

Placement Experience:

From the first year onwards we are eligible for internship opportunities by internship cell. During our 6th sem, we are eligible for job interviews. The placement cell is working hard to review their work in a well-mannered form but still, they lag in bringing big companies to college for on-campus placement drives. Companies like byjus, Genpact, etc. came for placements and they offer full-time jobs for 4-6 lacs package varying from the post they offer. The highest package could go up to 7-8 lacs and on average it's 2 lacs. They offered a various range of profiles to get into. The percentage should be more than 65% at least to get the final placement done smoothly. Plans for graduation are going for higher students in this subject only who want to have a PhD degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

All faculty members were helpful throughout the course and encouraged me to excel in other domains as well. But some teachers just didn't care about the students and were attending classes just for the sake of it. My college was a girl college and there were some male and more female faculty members. Exams were conducted according to the academic calendar released by the college before the start of the semester.
