What students say about NIT Silchar

Likes

  • The faculty-to-student ratio is good. Most of the faculties are Ph.D. holders, and some have completed their Post Doctorate. Term exams were taken on time, and papers were up to the mark.
  • Honestly, many companies offer good internships in this college, but not everyone is able to secure them.
  • Our college has great job opportunities and a 100 percent placement record for CSE. Additionally, our college provides internships, which provide a great experience and help us learn how to prepare for job interviews since internships are based on interviews.
  • In our college, every student is given a good scholarship. There are various types of scholarships, for example.
  • The availability of books is very good at this college. The library at this campus is one of Asias biggest libraries.
  • The hostel facility is not that great; there is a problem with the taste of the food and a hygiene issue with the water. Additionally, there are some issues with the internet.
  • The placement statistics for MBA and M Tech are not that good, considering the effort they go through.

Dislike

  • They are updating their course periodically, but it is very slow and does not change the fact that it is outdated.
  • The college doesnt provide any scholarships, but we are eligible for almost any scholarship provided by the government. Unfortunately, I wasnt eligible for the scholarship and I didnt receive it.
  • Campus infrastructure is not excellent, I want to say, but it is not so bad. Classes are well-oriented, and there is enough space and facilities for extracurricular activities. However, I must say, the hostels there are very good in both servicing and infrastructure.
  • There are 3 boys in a room meant for 2 occupants, and it becomes even worse when girls are involved.
  • Negative is the place outside for the people and the roads. The roads outside are horrible, and some professors, using their power, fail the students without any reason, putting us in a dilemma.

Placement Experience:

THe placements of the college are nice the average package of the college is around 6lpa including all the branches but it differs if we see the placements records specifically to the branch, but overall it is good

Remarks:

Go through jee exam then jossa councelling and then if you were allotted the Nit Silchar with any of the branches then the college will ask for an allotment letter and id proofs and mark sheets and your admission is done then

Placement Experience:

In the 7th semester, we are eligible for placements. Many companies are visited our college like amazon, Vodafone, Samsung, etc. The highest package is 55 lakh and the average package is 14 lakh.94 percent of students get placed every year. I plan to settle in a good software company.

Remarks:

Need to write the entrance exam JEE Mains and then depending upon your cutoff apply for josaa and depending on your rank, they allocated a college near your cutoff and you need to go for the physical report to the college.

Placement Experience:

Campus placement is quite good here, Form 7 sem you can be eligible for the campus placement different company visite campus for their recruitment. for the civil L&T visited 12 LPA and other company visited. If I talk about this year's placement of the 2023 batch so 100% placement for civil and of 14 LPA highest to 8 LPA average.

Remarks:

The course that I took was JEE MAINS. The eligibility for this course is min 12 pass and min grade of 75% at my time but not been changed to 65%. The form is available on the internet it occurs the duration of Sept - Nov. The application fee varies according to the agreement as obc gen is almost 700 and for sc-st and girls it is 500 reservation benefit is according to the rank the particular rank is available for the different candidates and the cutoff release according to the candidate is got selected.

Placement Experience:

Placements at our college are quite good compared to others from 7th-semester students who are eligible to sit in placements. The companies were Amazon, Goldman Sachs, BHEL, Atlassian, Accenture Tata, Adobe, Samsung, HLC, Mastercard, and Optum. and 514 offers were made. The highest package was 44 lakhs from amazon. and the average package of the ECE branch was 14 lakh per annum. In the ECE branch the percentage of people getting placed is 90% and in the CSE branch last year it is 100%. My plans are to get placed in a good company with a nice package and many people choose to go to higher studies or for UPSC.

Remarks:

For admission in this nit Silchar, I have to clear JEE mains and I cleared it and the CRL rank including reservation was eligible to get into this NIT. The admission process was smooth. And we need to pay 15000 to jossa to apply for counseling and we need to set the preference order according to our choice there will be six rounds we can be able to change our preferences one time. And we need to fix a college that comes to us in counseling and then we get admitted.

Placement Experience:

In the 7th semester, students become eligible for placements and can sit in placement rounds till the end of the 8th semester if they are not yet placed. A lot of tech companies like Microsoft, amazon visit during campus placement and they recruit a lot of students. The highest placement is 44 LPA and the average package is 15 LPA . 74% of the students eligible for placement got placed. After getting the degree I would like to work at a tech company and grow along my career.

Remarks:

The admission directly depends on your JEE score. The admission is processed through JOSAA, where you can fill out your application form, the cost of application fees is equal to 2000-3000 in JOSAA and application dates are mostly after the completion of JEE Advance exam. And after the JOSAA round is completed the documents are verified in offline while joining the campus. Reservation is provided to SC, ST, OBC, Gen-EWS, and PWD students.

Placement Experience:

The placement in NIT Silchar is decent. You will be eligible for placement from the 4th year but you will be associated with the T&P cell from the 3rd year. The companies which came for placements in 2022 are Samsung R&D Institute, Bangalore, Larsen and Toubro, Bharat Electronics Limited, Amazon Web Services, Vedanta Resources Limited, Make My Trip, etc. The highest package is 44 LPA in 2022 offered by Amazon Web Services and the average package is 15-16 LPA. Almost 95% of students get placed in CSE & and 90% in ECE, followed by EIE whereas in other branches the percentage is low. After getting the degree, I will be seating for placements and getting a Job Of course.

Remarks:

I have got admission to NIT Silchar through JEE mains. My JEE rank was around 28k so I got a seat in Electronics and Communication Engineering at the NIT Silchar in the 1st round itself through Home State Quota as I am a student of Assam only. The process of JOSAA is quite easy. They conduct 6 rounds of counseling before the counseling you have to enter your choices of college and your preferences on the JOSAA website. It is a 1-month long process. You can wait for the 6th round to complete or you can freeze your seat at any stage of the round. I have personally slide my option. After you accept your seat you have to pay a seat acceptance fee of 35k to JOSAA which directly goes to your allotted college. The main work starts once you physically report to your college, there you have to submit all the original documents you have submitted during JOSAA counseling and pay the remaining part of your fees. After all this process you have finally got admission to your dream college.

The placement for MSc students is very poor the students from the third sem are eligible to apply the institute is more focused on research for MSc students if any companies visit the LPA is 7-8 LPA per annum. companies like byjus Akash sri chaitanya on mobile came for campusing.

Remarks:

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose MSc in applied chemistry because I want to learn and search chemical compounds. The faculty is too good, the student ratio is 1:3, Well-qualified faculty but the teaching methods are very good. Term exams are on time and not too difficult to pass.

Remarks:

The admission process is GOOD. I qualify IIT-JAM Exam, and the application process is online by CCMN. On the CCMN site we have the opportunity to choose filling college and according to your mark college is allocated. The cut-off mark is 19.23.
