How would you rank IIM Udaipur, Trichy, Ranchi, and Raipur?

How good is IIM Raipur, and what is the position amongst the six new IIMs and Shillong?

Firstly let me clarify one thing. IIM Raipur cannot be compared to IIM Shillong because the latter is out of the league and is no longer a new IIM. Its worth and placements are much better than the newer IIMs and are in the league of old IIMs. We can only compare IIM Raipur to the 6 new IIMs namely Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Trichy, Udaipur, and Kashipur. After Shillong, one new IIM that gives an edge to older IIMs is Ranchi mainly because it works under the mentorship of IIM Calcutta. The placement statistics of IIM Ranchi are a testament to the same. After Ranchi comes to Trichy, one of the fastest-growing IIMs. It has a decent placement scenario and a better professional approach. Raipur and Udaipur are almost similar and are better than Kashipur and Rohtak. Raipur especially enjoys location advantage being situated in the capital of Chattisgarh. The faculty base is also quite learned and the institute has proper connectivity. Kashipur has many connectivity issues but is famous for its guest lectures and interaction with industry experts. IIM Rohtak is the last in line mainly because of its pathetic placement scenario which overshadows its vicinity to Delhi. So the final order is Shillong>Ranchi>Trichy>Raipur=Udaipur>Kashipur>Rohtak

How would you rank and choose among IIM Trichy, Raipur, Ranchi and Kashipur?

The distinctions between Ranchi and Trichy are razor thin. Both second-generation IIMs are performing admirably in their respective leagues. Here is a comparison of Ranchi and Trichy based on various parameters. Raipur and Kashipur lag far behind these two IIMs. Parameters: Placements: Ranchi and Trichy have remarkably similar placements. Ranchis average package is 16.62 LPA, while Trichys average package is 17.01 LPA. Campus: Trichy, hands down, for campus life. Trichy has a modern 175-acre campus with all amenities. In 2021, the institute began moving to a permanent campus on a 60-acre plot in Dhurwa. Locational Advantage: Both have a geographical advantage. Ranchi is near XLRI, Jsr. Trichy is conveniently located between Bangalore and Chennai. Trichy is also home to NIT Trichy, the best NIT in the country. Perception: Trichys perception is rapidly expanding. It is fairly obvious from all B-school rankings. So, with the exception of marketing, you can choose IIM Trichy over IIM Ranchi for any specialization. Ranchis marketing is effective. Therefore, taking everything into account, the final ranking will be Trichy>Ranchi>>Raipur>>Kashipur.

What should be the order of choice for new IIMs, i.e. Ranchi, Trichy, Udaipur, Kashipur, Rohtak and Raipur?

Your choice of college depends on your personal preferences and interests. One college might be suitable for you but not for others. So your question is subjective and cannot be answered directly. Every individual ranks a college depending on his own perspective and goals. I think the best way is to contact students or pass-outs from respective colleges, collect data and then make a decision based on your research and then your preference. You can also look up the official websites of the college to collect relevant data. Find out the parameters that matter to you the most in your choice of college. Some include placements, diversity, location, batch strength, or faculty. Do your part of the research and then choose the college that fulfills the maximum boxes in your priority list.

Why are IIM Ranchi and Raipur underrated compared to IIM Udaipur even after better placement records?

I think the single most important reason why IIM Raipur and Ranchi are considered below IIM Udaipur is the lack of proper marketing. IIM Udaipur has managed to make its mark through enough marketing and promoting research culture. The IIMRs is also flawed in the sense that they are located in extremely poor economic states. This flaw overshadows all their features and the fact that they have better placement scenarios than IIM Udaipur. Every IIM has set a certain goal and is gradually climbing the ladder to reach its level of excellence. The same is the case with IIMRs. In just a few years these two will be among the best IIMs in India.

How good is IIM Raipur, and what is the position amongst the six new IIMs and Shillong?

Before I compare IIM Raipur with the 6 new IIMs, let me clarify one thing. IIM Shillong belongs to a whole different league so IIM Raipur can be compared to the new IIMs only. IIM Shillong: It lies at a different level as it is oldest among the new IIMs and is almost considered among the older IIMs. The placement figures are a testament to the fact. IIM Ranchi: Next in line comes IIM Ranchi which functions under the mentorship of IIM Calcutta. Its placement opportunities are much better than new IIMs. IIM Trichy: Another fast growing IIM is IIM Trichy. IIM Raipur/Udaipur: It is only after Trichy that Raipur is placed. Being situated in the capital city of Chattisgarh, Raipur has a location advantage over Kashipur and Rohtak. The faculty is also top notch and the airports provide connectivity to various parts of the country. IIM Rohtak/Kashipur: Both these IIMs are at the same level. Kashipur faced a slight location disadvantage, decreasing the changes of guest lectures and Industry and Business Leader interactions. Rohtak has a location advantage of being situated near to the capital but its placements are the worst of all the 6 IIMs. So one should choose Raipur out of Kashipur/ Raipur/ Udaipur.

Additionally, top-tier businesses like Accenture, McKinsey, Tata, Cognizant, GSK, Deloitte, and others come to recruit interns. If the interns do well, the businesses offer them pre-placement offers or pre-placement interviews. Even recent graduates who have no prior work experience are given good internship opportunities in reputable corporations. Some start ups also come to campus for internships, giving the interns exposure to the field and real-world experience. They also get to interact with company executives and work directly with them, which greatly broadens their knowledge.

Placement Experience:

The placement process is highly competitive and rigorous, as the institutes are known for producing some of the most highly sought-after management graduates in India and around the world. The placement process usually begins in the second half of the final year. A purview of my IIM Raipur adventure

Internships Opportunities:

There are tremendous internship opportunities available at the college under various domains as per the interests of the students. We enjoyed around 110 companies visiting the campus both online and offline for roles in Finance, Marketing, Supply chain, Operations, Consulting, and IT. Companies like Morgan Stanley, Deloitte, Asian Paints, Reliance, Aditya Birla, ONDC, Ecosoul, Accenture Consulting, etc. visited the campus for internships. We are also offered short-term projects by various companies which help us in applying our theoretical knowledge by testing it in the real world. These projects help us to gain insights about various fields which also aids in understanding our true interests while earning some extra bucks on the side. Projects are diverse and usually under startups which is an added advantage to the students.

Placement Experience:

The placements are doing exceptionally well at IIM Raipur. The placement season begins in August for both summer placements for a period of 2months as well as for final placements. This year more than 100 companies participated in the process ranging from Indian companies like Reliance, Asian Paints, etc. to international companies like Amazon, Morgan Stanley, etc. The highest package stands at 60Lakhs and the average package offered stands at 18Lakhs. The recruitments are made in a variety of domains like Marketing, Finance, IT, Operations, and Consulting. The profiles offered are Finance Analysts, Consultants, Management Trainees, Marketing Specialists, Data Analysts, etc. The college placement season enjoyed 100% placements for both summer and final placements and the credits go to the placement committee of the college and the exceptional students. My summer internship is at Reliance Retail as a Strategy intern and I want to make a career as a strategy consultant.
