IIT BHU had three huge festivals namely Kashiyatra- the annual socio-cultural festival, Technex- the annual techno-management festival, and Spardha- the annual sports festival. Various books are available in the fully functional and facilitated Common Library and departmental libraries. The classrooms are nice though they are not air-conditioned. There are 5 councils and around 48 clubs in our college. So yes, you really do have a lot to do in the extracurricular of your choice.

Hostel Facilities:

In first yr in the Aryabhatt hostel, room is 3 seater and is of somewhat smaller size for 3 , but not a big issue , after only a few days it stars feeling satisfactorily bigthat you can even fill 10-12 at once. Mess food is beyond expectations .Food at IITBHU is quite good .It is great in quality as well as quantity of the items you r served here . U have to submit the mess advance of 15000 - 18000 /sem and the hostel fee and with the receipts u will get room that is allocated to everyone studying here. There is provision of Sattwik mess as well , and there are canteens in the hostel for your daily hangouts . Greenery is present in hostel and u will be pleased when u roam in the garden talking in phone surrounded by nature. Moreover there is Badminton court in our hostel so u can always find bois playing , even in winter late nights , XD. WiFi and LAN speed are nice and lighings in room are also good with mesh in the windows . But there are 2 almirahs only for 3 people at this time.

there are fests like annual cultural fest - Kashiyatra and annual technical fest -Technex which were conducted in jan and march respectively in 2022. These events witnessed shows and talks of Darshan raval, bassi , raftaar , NV sir , Technical guruji , Ashneer Grover , and lot more.Programs at IIT BHU are thus quite fascinating. There is a big library and reading room that have ACs equipped with very well availability of books . Big classrooms , and lecture theatres equipped with speakers and projectors but no ACs . Sports facilities are mind blowing as there are proper big grounds for nearly all types of sports and also a newly built Student Activity Center (SAC) gifted by one of our alum that is a crown in the institute offering arena for boxing, badminton, taekwando, squash,T.T,Yoga ,etc and a large GYM .Spardha is the annual Sports fest of IITBHU Although the campus could be better. Also it is of open type. SCS ,Sakha ,WellM , etc are some student bodies always to help the students .

Ques. How are the hostels in IIT BHU?

● Top Answer By Sristhi Ojha, on 11 Nov 21

One of my friends studied at IIT BHU, he used to avail hostel facilities. According to him, the hostels were overall good but had one complaint with the allotment of students. Most of the students there preferred 2 students sharing one room rather than 3. Here’s mentioning some points about the hostels. The Aryabhatta hostel is for freshers. Every room has good ventilation.  The windows opening outside makes the room spacious. Water coolers are present at every floor. All rooms are equipped with 2 almirahs, 2 beds, 2 tables and 2 chairs. Students can play badminton, tennis, etc. during their off time in the hostel premises. The big hall at Aryabhatta hostel has 3 messes.  The mess staff are well organized as well. Every furniture in the room is labelled with its respective room number to avoid misplacement. Each floor has a common bathroom and toilet. Wifi is also provided to the students. Overall, the hostels here are very well maintained, the new hostels are better than the older ones but are comparatively smaller. To promote clean energy, solar panels are installed on the roof of each hostel....Read more

Ques. How are the hostel and other amenities in the IIT BHU for M.Tech students?

● Top Answer By Abhishek Sinha on 16 Aug 22

IIT BHU hostel facilities are good for M.Tech students. The hostel rooms are spacious and have all the necessary amenities. M.Tech students are accommodated in Aryabhatta hostel. It is the biggest hostel on campus.  Most rooms are three seated. After one semester or two, students are allotted double-seated rooms, based on availability. Students are given basic amenities like a cot, table, and chair. Each room has two shelves. Each room has two LAN ports. The hostel has a reading room on the ground floor. The campus has a University Health Center for medical emergencies.  It has a three-mess capacity dining hall. Compared to other IITs, food offered here is good. The hostel has two canteens. Food items and other basic things are available there. ...Read more

Ques. Are there bathroom attached hostel rooms in IIT BHU?

● Top Answer By Sauvick Ghose on 14 Aug 20

No, there are no bathrooms attached to hostel rooms in IIT BHU. In fact, that is the case with most of the IITs. However, there are enough facilities available for the students in each hostel. Most of the hostels in IIT BHU have one bathroom per 10 students and that is more than sufficient in terms of availability. And most of the time students don’t face any problems regarding the bathroom facilities. In a few hostels like Limbdi, Rajputana, and Vishvesvaraya that there are washbasins in the lobby and they’re each per 10 people too. So, that pretty much sums up the bathroom facilities at IIT BHU....Read more

Ques. What is the present internet speed in IIT BHU hostels?

● Top Answer By Nilesh Kumar on 14 Aug 20

The recent downloading speed is around 6 Mbps during the day as the traffic is very high. During the night the speed definitely increases but the increase is not that significant since people are awake at night too. When you are allotted your hostel rooms you will get an Ethernet cable. The speed might improve if you use the Ethernet instead of the wifi. In recent years a network with 1 Gbps bandwidth has been set up which resulted in good internet speed. This might look very high speed to some people reading this answer, but actually this is a pretty normal speed considering its an IIT. IIT Roorkee has far better speed than this....Read more

Ques. What is the mess menu of IIT BHU?

● Top Answer By Anmol Srivastav on 15 Feb 22

There is no fixed mess menu in IIT BHU. At present, the institute has a total of 19 hostels. Each hostel has 2-3 messes and different people are given contracts for a whole year. Average number of students eating at a particular hostel will be around 150-200. This system is put in place to ensure the quality of food.  Even if we talk about a particular mess, there is no fixed menu as such. The person in charge, as known as the ‘Maharaj’ keeps different preparations depending on the price of goods and commodities.  Generally, for lunch or dinner, there will be roties, 2-3 types of rice, 3-4 types of vegetable curries, and 1-2 types of daal. Salad is provided along with the meals.  Fruit salads, sweets, cakes are given at least once a week.  The Saturday lunch is known as a big meal. Along with the general items, there will be poori, chole, a few other snacks, etc. At least once in 2 weeks, the mess menu includes special food items like 2-3 types of paranthas, Noodles, Dosa, Idli, etc.  Eggs are served twice a week. For vegetarians, there are paneer items.  Chicken, Fish, Mutton are served twice a week. You can also order Egg burji, Omelet, Egg rice anytime you want. These are charged separately from the mess fee.  The mess charge is around INR 12,000 for each semester. Sometimes, a few bucks are refunded after a semester. ...Read more

Ques. What are the hostel facilities in IIT BHU?

● Top Answer By Shobhan Dasgupta on 14 Aug 20

The institute many hostels for both boys and girls, and most of them are about 50-60 years old. The rooms in the old ones are cramped, unlike the new ones, where are quite spacious. Even then, the rooms are pretty much compact, according to the number of students in a room. When one enters the room for the first time, he will be somewhat reluctant to live here because it will be too filthy with spider webs everywhere in the room, along with some used stuff of previous occupants. Hostel administration offers a bed, table, and chair. Cupboards are already inside the room, which will be shared. In a wholly arranged room with couches, tables, and chairs, there will be no space to walk, but very spacious corridors and lawns make up for it. Vishwakarma Hostel corridors are so long that one will hesitate to go from one end to another. Each of the has basic amenities like sufficient numbers of bathrooms and water coolers. Apart from these, hostels have common rooms, canteens, mess, TV Room, badminton court, TT tables, lawns, and high-speed internet, accessible via Wi-Fi and LAN. All the complaints of the students are taken very seriously by the hostel administration. The authorities act promptly on any grievance or criticism of the students. There are no restrictions on the time of entry and exit from the hostel. Also, the food in the hostel messes is much better than any other IIT's mess food. The hostels of IIT BHU are quite good, and they end up being the most cherished places during the time of stay in IIT BHU....Read more

Ques. How are the hostels in IIT BHU?

● Top Answer By Yogesh Pandey on 14 Aug 20

The hostels of IIT BHU can be classified into 2 categories: new and old. Both of them have almost similar designs. The institute has renovated most of the old hostels and have well-maintained gardens inside. The rooms in these hostels are smaller and generally only two students can share the rooms. They have less number of cupboards per room. The new hostels have larger rooms, but you may have to share the room with three people (especially if you are in the 1st or 2nd year). Another downside is the size of the garden is considerably reduced, and the overall size of the hostel is small. These hostels have more storage space. Daily maintenance is done on the garden, the washrooms, the corridors, and other common areas. Rooms are cleaned and disinfected on a weekly basis. The washrooms are cleaned every day. Every hostel has a common room where there is a TV and a table for table-tennis. These rooms can be used for club meetings, organizing events, etc. Sports equipment can be issued- carrom board, badminton rackets, and table tennis. Multiple water-coolers are present on each floor. There are several wifi routers on each floor. Also, two LAN ports are present in each room for faster internet requirements. Each room has at least: a window, one tube light, a bulb holder, a ceiling fan, and 2 sockets. Every student is provided with a bed, a chair, and a study table. All hostels have badminton courts and some even have volleyball courts. Each hostel has at least one: Canteen, (open till 2 AM), and Mess(fixed timings). Each hostel also has allocated parking space for bikes, scooters, and cycles. Students are allowed to have basic electric equipment like heaters and coolers. You can go in and out of campus at any time. However, there is a curfew for girls (10 PM). There are 3 girls hostels out of which one is solely for freshers. The current fresher’s hostel for boys is Aryabhatta (1 & 2). Every summer, you have to vacate your room and put all your belongings in either the common room or other dedicated rooms. This is regular for most colleges....Read more

Ques. Why is the Dhanrajgiri Hostel (IIT BHU) getting demolished?

● Top Answer By Aradhya Banerjee on 16 Feb 22

Dhanrajgiri Hostel is among the oldest hostels in IIT BHU. It dates back to the days when the institute was known as IT BHU. In fact, it is the first hostel on the engineering campus of BHU. Naturally, the hostel building is quite old and in need of renovation.  To accommodate the increasing number of students, IIT BHU has decided to demolish the hostel and rebuild it as Boys Hostel - I (S+10) and Dining Block (G+1 floor)....Read more

Ques. Which is the best hostel (overall) to live in when at IIT BHU ?

● Top Answer By Debarati Nag on 13 Aug 20

Aryabhatta Hostel is the best hostel to live in when at IIT BHU. This is due to the following reasons: It is the most recently built hostel i.e. in the year 2016 and has all the latest facilities in the bathrooms and with the doors and windows. The rooms are most spacious among all the hostels in the campus. It’s the nearest to Hyderabad Gate, DG Cornet, and CV Raman. The Swimming Pool is just behind the hostel. The hostel is allotted to the 1st year students in undergraduate, M.Tech, and Ph.D. people. The common hall is so big that you can play cricket there! It’s 3 floors tall and that makes it the only hostel with 3 floors on campus. There’s the best badminton court amongst all hostels and including gymkhana. It has 3 canteens, again the most in a single hostel on campus. Although this may vary from person to person. Aryabhatta is a hostel which you’d like coming into college as you’ll be having high expectations from college and this is the hostel with the most modern facilities. This might change once you progress in college life and by 4th year you’d love to be in Rajputana and Limbdi Hostels as they’re the centre point of the college and are pretty much near to everything essential for a student....Read more
