What students say about IIT BHU - Indian Institute of Technology

Likes

  • As I am in IIT, the course curriculum is the best that someone can get in India.
  • Now the stipend has increased compared to my time. The best stipend at HUL for 2 months was 60000?/month.
  • I interned at Myntra with a stipend of 50k per month in the first month. Nonetheless, it offers excellent placements and internships as many companies visit our college. Therefore, there are numerous opportunities for CSE, Electronics, and Electrical students.
  • Those who cannot afford this college can also get a scholarship from the institution, and this college also provides good internship and placement opportunities.
  • We, IIT (BHU), have the highest number of clubs among all IITs, which makes our extracurricular activities the best one can experience.
  • The registration process is held on the official website. If you want to rent a room, then Hyderabad Gate is the best.
  • IITs take admission on the basis of their score in JEE Advanced, so its perfect.

Dislike

  • The majority of professors are downright arrogant, and instead of delivering quality education, they like to believe that they have a bunch of idiotic, drunkard, and irresponsible students to teach.
  • Now that your Google form insists on completing 100 words for this question, I am left with no other option but to write unnecessary content.
  • As mentioned earlier, the hostel quality is very poor in terms of facilities and accommodations, so we feel very uncomfortable here. This discomfort negatively affects our studies.
  • The institute itself provides hostels for student accommodation, but the hostels are in very poor condition.
  • The only remark is the infrastructure because it was a 100-year-old institution, Banaras Hindu University, and we are a part of it. I am not happy with the hostel facility.

Placement Experience:

From the 7th sem, students become eligible for campus placements. Some of the famous companies which visit our campus include Microsoft, JPMC, etc. The highest package touches around 1.5 crores and the minimum around 7-8 lakhs. At least 1500 offers were made this year during placements Almost all the students sitting for placements get placed. My plan is to go for higher studies after getting the degree.

Remarks:

I gave JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. My JEE Advanced rank was 6443 (CRL). I opted for IIT BHU civil engineering. Admission process was done through JOSAA counseling which is a quiet famous process. Admissions in CFTIs/GFTIs are done through JoSAA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In IITs you don't select a branch you get it coz of your rank. The same thing happened to me of course. Faculty to student ratio is pretty good here. Faculties are definitely highly qualified and old professors had a traditional method of teaching. In a semester, there are two term exams- mid-term and end-term.

Remarks:

As we all know admission into the iits is through jee advanced. You get a seat in iit after qualifying to jee advanced (prior to which you have to qualify jee mains) through jossa counseling according to your rank. The cutoff for the general category is around Air 7000 to take admission in Civil Engineering at IIT (BHU) Varanasi.

Placement Experience:

Placements are awesome on the campus. And a student become eligible after its 7th semester and around 350-400 companies had visited in this placement drive of 2022. I'm currently in idd (Integrated dual degree) and fill face the scenario of placement in the upcoming session. Highest package offered- 1.2 Cr per annum Average package offered- 12 Lpa

Remarks:

The entrance exam is JEE advanced l Yes, there are reservation benefits like in other IITs. Entrance is made through JOSAA counselling consisting of 7 rounds and now it reduced to 6 it's a very long and smooth process. you will get a seat in iit according to your JEE advanced rank.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In my family, there is already 4 civil engineer so I influence by them thus I also choose this course. In my batch there are 140 students and maybe around 550 students in civil engineering and the available faculty for them are 30 so the ratio is quite good (i.e. for every 20 students there is one faculty available) Faculties are very knowledgeable and have remarkable qualifications from foreign countries and teaching methods are available both offline and online. Smart techniques are also available like projector, mic, speaker etc. There was 2 exam in each semester and the total semester is 8 so we have to give 16 term exams and there is also summer vacation and winter vacation between them. Difficulties are not much that issue every student starts to study a week before the term exam and got decent marks.

Remarks:

Eligibility for civil engineering in iit bhu is around AIR 5000-6500 but for me, as I belong to the ST category it is 300-350. The application process and counselling performed on the JOSSA site Reservation benefit was availed as I couldn't clear JEE in the general category but I got eligible through the ST category As such Improvement is currently not needed but if previous data can also be published on jossa site for a smooth process

Placement Experience:

Students write the internship exam in 4th semester and many grab handsome offers in internship in companies like Google ,Microsoft, Goldman sachs, uber ,etc which also offer PPOs .Apart from this , the placement exams are being given in 7 or 8th sem All the major companies that recruit from all over India visit IITBHU , some of whose names already stated. 1201 offers were offered in 2022-23 . Package ranges: Max-1.2 Cr and Avg-23.13 lakhs ~85% students got placed this yr ,and some went into research/higher studies /UPSC etc. I am planning to become a robotics engineer and then after getting placement ready , will like for working for country's defence sector or something like that. But thats far behind. Lets see what happens.

Remarks:

IIT BHU offers a wide range of courses in engineering (B.tech,IDD,B.Arch) The admission is only the Jee Advanced exam .First a person applies for Jee mains and after clearing it , gives the Jee Advanced examination which is the window for entering any IIT. Eligibilty is just that the person should be in 12th appearing year or the year after passing 12th . So ,there are max of two attempts for Jee adv exam ,and the applying candidate should clear it and get a satisfactory rank as well to get admission into IIT BHU. Cutoff Closing rank as per 1st round is 426-858 for CSE and 17416-18173 for Architecture in open category Details about Jee Advanced ,application process, can easily be found from some reliable source or official website of any IIT. Yes there is criteria of reservation based on caste and gender as well . So those falling in some category can have their supporting docs ready for availing such benefits. The admission process in IIT BHU is quite well , with no modifications req.

Ques. What are the views of IIT-BHU students about Kashi Utkarsh?

● Top Answer By Ayush Singh on 16 Feb 22

Kashi Utkarsh is an initiative of IIT BHU students. Through this initiative, they try to help people living in the slums near Varanashi. Due to poverty and poor hygiene, the kids in the slums have limited scope for development.  Some of the activities of KU are as below. On weekends students travel to the slum areas and teach the kids for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya admission test. They also persuade parents to send their kids to schools. This may sound easy but many parents need a lot of convincing and committed efforts. KU with the help of IIT BHU students helps raise funds to pay the school fees of these kids. KU also raised funds for special emergencies. For instance, a few years back KU helped raise funds for the operation of a girl with a hole in her heart. The operation happened in Bangalore. Few students and Professors took care of the kid through the whole process. ...Read more

Ques. What are the changes that took place in the college after IT-BHU  got converted into IIT BHU?

● Top Answer By Kaushik Mahapatra on 14 Aug 20

IT(BHU) got converted into an IIT in 2012. The institute has seen many changes since then. A few major ones have been listed as below: There is a new administration, which is directly influenced by the MHRD. The processes of recruiting faculty is more thorough and therefore, newly recruited faculty are better qualified as well as equipped for teaching. There is now a proper course structure to be followed, with each course having a more rigid curriculum. The academic calendar is taken more seriously. Exams happen twice - one mid-semester and one end-semester instead of the CT’s and final exams. There is a new 75% attendance rule. Assignments and projects have become a major part of many courses. The concept of relative grading has been introduced. There is a much more functional Training and Placements Cell, along with a new Entrepreneurship Cell. There are also new start-up incubators. Placements have seen an obvious major boost. Many new departments have been added - the latest being Architecture. Also, department fests are taken much more seriously. More and more students are enrolled each year into various departments. This has also resulted in the construction of new hostels and increasing room occupancy of some. A new library has been built and a new student activity center is being constructed. Many new councils and clubs have been introduced. Google Start-up Weekend, FMC Weekend, and IIT(BHU) Modern United Nations are being held every year. Also, TEDx is being conducted whenever possible. The campus now has not only Internet access but also numerous WiFis. A huge marketplace developed nearer to the “IIT side” of the campus....Read more
