Govind Ballabh Pant University of Technology and Agriculture (GBPUAT), also known as Pantnagar University, was established in 1960 in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. It currently offers 2 Undergraduate­, 8 Postgraduate and 7 Ph.D courses. The UG courses offered are B.Sc. and B.Tech, and the PG courses are M.Sc., M.tech., MVSc, MBA, MCA and M.Sc. GBPUAT Admission 2023

  • Govind Ballabh Pant University has the both the options of merit-based admission and entrance exams-based admissions into respective courses.
  • Students applying for undergraduate courses must have passed 10+2 examinations from a recognized board with 50% aggregate as admission is merit based.
  • Undergraduate applicants must score at least 50% in 10+2 examinations and Postgraduate applicants need to secure 1st division.
  • The entrance test JEE is conducted for admissions into B.Tech. and all applicants must have valid scores for seeking admission
  • GATE exam result is required for M.Tech. admissions in Govind Ballabh Pant University.
  • MBA admissions require the applicant’s performance in the nm,./ MAT/ XAT exam.
  • Students applying for post-graduate courses must have scored 55% in bachelor’s from a recognized university in the country.

How to apply?

  • The application procedure begins as soon as the admission forms are released on the university website.
  • Every student has to register himself/herself on the student’s portal to get a personal ID and password.
  • Applicants need to fill all the details like personal information, educational information, stream requirements and many more.
  • Once this is done, registration fee has to be paid using online payment methods.
  • Next step is uploading your passport size photograph for identification.
  • Now take hard copies of required documents along with you to the campus and they must be self attested.
  • Selected students will be provided the link for payment of admission fees through the e-mails mentioned in their forms.

GBPUAT Placements

GBPUTA has an active placement wing which looks over the recruitment of students and their relations with recruiting companies. To help students with jobs, regular workshops are organized where mock interviews and seminars are conducted to help with job interviews and company relations.   • Undergraduate placements- In 2019, 135 students have been recruited with an average salary package of 7 LPA whereas the highest salary package went about 16 LPA.
  • Post graduate placements- Year 2019 has been a good one for the 200 students recruited with an average package of 9lakhs p.a. and highest package was around 14 LPA.

Companies like Hero Honda, ICICI, Mahindra, Infosys, Wipro, Amul, HCL and Big Basket have been the top recruiting companies in recent years.

GBPUAT Scholarship

Govind Ballabh Pant University is a government funded university so it provides all the facilities and subsidies for the students. Mostly merit based scholarships are offered to the students along with fee concession to reserved category students:

  • Ph.D Scholarships- The university offers 3000/- p.m scholarship to the students who have been consistent performers in their respective subjects.
  • Master’s Scholarships- The student who attain highest ranking in GATE and scored highest marks in semester exams will be provided 2000/- p.m. and other merit students are offered 900/- p.m.
  • Undergraduate Scholarships- The undergraduate students are offered 800/- p.m. cash prize for their excellent performance throughout.
  • Sports Scholarships- Every year the university conducts sports day and the best sportsperson is awarded with 800/- cash prize.
  • SC/ST Scholarships- Being a public university, there is an option for 60% fee concession for the students belonging to any reserved category SC, ST or OBC. Reservation documents are must for the scholarship program.

GBPUAT Facilities

Govind Ballabh Pant University has 8 affiliated colleges and all of them have the best facilities for the students including library, hostels, computer lab and a canteen etc. for faculty as well as the students.

  • Hostel Facility: The university has 22 hostels spread across its campus which is meant only for the students outside Uttarakhand. There are 12 boys’ hostel and 10 girls’ hostel with capacity of housing 150 students each. Mess option is also available. The hostel is equipped with a Wi-Fi connection.
  • Common Room:  A separate common room has been provided to all the boys and girls. The common room is equipped with a TV set as well as the coolers for air conditioning.
  • Library: The University has a library meant for all the departments. It has a seating capacity of more than 150 students at a time. The library is equipped with 1,12,350 books comprising 12,000 science books and more than 30,000 books regarding technological information.
  • Music & Cultural Room: The colleges under the university have various cultural societies like dancing, singing and arts. The university has separate rooms for these societies like music & cultural room for practicing.
  • Cafeteria: Along with hostel mess there is a canteen or cafeteria for all the students across the 8 colleges. The canteen has 4 AC’s for students’ comfort with a seating capacity of 200 students at a time. The food is quite cheap with good quality and more than 30 items are listed on the menu.
  • Outdoor courts: GBPUAT has the option of outdoor sports like basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton and many more. A matted outdoor court has been arranged for the students along with a water cooler for their comfort.

Ques. When will the documents for admission be required?

Ans. Once the student has completed filling up the application form, he/she has to present the form with the documents at the university. This also requires paying the application fee.

Ans. Yes, the university has the option for department change once you have taken admission into any of the courses but this has to be done before the commencement of the session. Next time you can change your course is after completion of 1 year in the chosen course. You can take admission into a new course just like new admissions.

Ques.  What is the exam pattern for semester exams?

Ans. Every department like agriculture, technology, home science and science has its own exam pattern. The basic remains the same with theory exam for 50 marks and practical or internal assessment for 50 marks.
