B.Tech aspirants cannot apply directly through institute’s website. It is mandatory for all UG candidates to appear for JEE Main and Advanced to be considered eligible for application/registration. They can apply for both on their respective official websites.

M.Tech & Ph.D.

Candidates applying for any of the M.Tech and Ph.D. programs offered by NIT Puducherry must apply through the online application portal available on its official website. M.Tech candidates can also apply through CCMT (a centralized counselling process for M.Tech applicants). Copies of all requisite documents are to be submitted along with a most recent colored passport size photograph. A non-refundable application fee of INR 1000 (INR 500 for SC/ST/PH) has to be paid through SBI Collect.

The candidates are required to send the following documents (photocopies with the application form and original at the time of interview) for verification purpose:

• Valid Photo-ID proof
• Mark-sheets and certificates of all qualifications/degrees starting from class 10th or equivalent.
• Character Certificate issued by the Head of the Institution/Department last attended.
• OBC / SC / ST / PD certificate, if applicable.
• Proof of Date of Birth.
• GATE/NET qualification certificate as applicable
• Appearing Certificate from the Head of the Department/Institute for candidates appearing for the final examination of the qualifying degree.
• Reprint of research publications (1st page only), if any
• Any other information related to eligibility
• Certificate of sponsorship
• Experience Certificate if any

Candidates having Master’s degree with First class in Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mathematics/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Economics in the relevant discipline with a minimum mentioned aggregate marks (CGPA 6.5/10) in UG or PG for OC/OBC category and mentioned aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA of 6.0 for SC/ST candidates

NIT Puducherry currently offers Ph.D. programs to all eligible candidates in 9 departments. The basic eligibility criteria for admission is a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline.

The selection of candidates for Ph.D. programs is subject to a written exam and interview. It is however mandatory for the candidate to qualify GATE / NET (LS or JRF) before applying for Ph.D.

Important points about Ph.D. Admission:

• Both part-time and full-time programs are available.
• Common written test applicable for both full-time and part-time candidates.
• Research fellowships are available to full-time research scholars who are not receiving any financial support/scholarship from other Agencies or State or Central Governments.

GATE Score is mandatory for institute fellowship.
