Course Details
IIT Tirupati has launched a graduate program in Public Policy to fulfill India's growing demand for policy professionals and to widen the intellectual landscape at IIT Tirupati, with the goal of developing academics and professionals who can contribute to the nation's long-term growth. IIT Tirupati is now accepting applications for the Master of Public Policy.
IIT TIrupati accepts MPP admission in 2 categories, i.e Track 1 and Track 2. Candidates having a valid GATE score are included in Track 1 category and the candidates who do not have a valid gate score are included in the Track 2 category. For IIT Tirupati MPP Track 2 admissions, written test will be conducted on May 20, 2023 in online mode.

IIT Tirupati MPP Eligibility Criteria
A variety of degrees are accepted as qualifying degrees for the Master of Public Policy program. Students from practically all fields are eligible to enroll. The list of all qualifying degrees and the required marks for the IIT Tirupati MPP Course is below.
- Candidates who have already obtained or are likely to obtain at the end of the academic year a Bachelor's degree (after 10+2) or equivalent in any subject from a recognized university or institute are eligible to apply for admission to the MPP program offered by the Institute.
- At least 55% marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General /OBC/ EWS category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

IIT Tirupati MPP Selection Criteria
Admission to the MPP program will be done through two tracks.
- Track 1: Applicants who have taken and received valid GATE exam scores.
- Track 2: Candidates who have not previously taken the GATE exam During an admission year, applicants will only be considered for one track at a time. For the purposes of generating the final merit list, these two tracks will be treated individually.

Track 1
For eligible applicants who have taken the GATE exam and have valid GATE exam scores.
- To be considered for the next phase of selection, applicants must have a valid GATE score.
- Only GATE applicants who score at or above the Institute's cut-off will be invited to personal interviews.
- Based on the GATE score and the interview, a final merit list will be prepared. The Institute will determine the criteria for admission as full-time students, including the relevant cut-offs, with relaxation for reserved category applicants in compliance with Government of India rules. The Institute will make changes to the admissions criterion on a regular basis.
Track 2
For eligible applicants who have not taken the GATE exam.
- Candidates who do not have a valid GATE score will be required to take the written exam.
- Only applicants who scored at or above the cut-off for the written test will be invited to the final interview.
- The written test and interview results will be used to build a final merit list. The Institute will determine the criteria for admission as full-time students, including the applicable cut-offs, with exceptions for reserved category applicants in compliance with Government of India rules.

IIT Tirupati MPP Course Details
The curriculum will last four semesters and will include:
- Core courses to be compulsorily taken by all candidates
- Elective courses in 3 streams depending on the choice of the candidate
- Dissertation
The program has three streams of specialization
- Science and Management of Sustainability are multidisciplinary and can be opted by all enrolled students.
- Students opting for Data Science must have a prior B.Tech in Computer Science
- Students opting for Sustainability and Engineering must have a B.Tech in Civil or Environmental Engineering.

Ques. Can working professionals Pursue this MPP course?
Ans. Working professionals can apply to the MPP program through Self-Finance. Please keep in mind that coursework is required for the first year. All students are required to commit to the program full-time.
Ques. What is The Procedure for Relieving the Students from MPP Program?
Ans. A student has to earn not less than 12 credits in the first semester, 30 credits at the end of the second semester, and 40 credits at the end of the third semester. If a student fails to earn the required minimum credits in any particular semester, he/she will be relieved from the program at the end of the semester.
Ques. Can a student be Temporarily Withdrawal from the Programme?
Ans. A student may be permitted by the Dean of Academic Affairs to withdraw from the program for a semester or longer for reasons of ill health or other valid grounds. Normally a student will be permitted to discontinue from the program only for a maximum continuous period of two semesters.
Ques.Who is Eligible for the MPP Program at IIT Tirupati?
Ans. The MPP program will be open to all Fellowship Awardee candidates, Self Financed candidates and Sponsored candidates, and In-service Candidates. Candidates sponsored by the Government/ All India Services, Central/State Civil Services or equivalent, Public Sector Undertakings, Corporate Industries, and Non-Government Organizations are also eligible to apply. In-service candidates, working in Corporate/Government/Semi-Government /Non-government Organizations, PublicSector Organizations or equivalent, must ensure that their organization permits them to undertake the requisite coursework and projects for the duration of the MPP program.
Ques. Are Foreign Nationals Eligible for the MPP Program at IIT Tirupati?
Ans. Yes, Candidates with valid scores of TOEFL/IELTS or equivalent will also be considered Eligible for IIT Tirupati MPP admission. Candidates who received a degree from India are also eligible to apply. Candidates whose applications are received through the Indian Council of Cultural Relations, Government of India are also eligible to apply
