The Odisha State Open University was found in 2015 by the act of Odisha state legislature. The University is popularly-known for its distance learning programs and, is located in the Sambalpur district of Odisha. The University offers various courses ranging from teacher education, Computer science, Engineering, Business & Management, paramedical, agriculture, and foreign language courses. The fee to be charged for each of these courses is made reasonable and affordable for everyone.Currently, the Vice-chancellor of the University is Dr. Srikant Mohapatra. The Vice-chancellor has also been awarded the IGNOU gold medal in 2004 for providing the best services to the students by late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The University brings in the use of the other regional study centres, government infrastructures for distance learning. In total, the University has established more than 50+ study centres all over the state of Odisha. It is a platform for all those who don’t have enough time to pursue regular full-time courses from Universities but want to continue their further studies.

Odisha State Open University Scholarships

Odisha Open state university[OSOU], offers grants to the meriting and commendable students having a place with the SC/ST and OBC under the Prerana Scholarship Scheme. Students are required to follow the rules set by the college to apply for the Scholarship. Till now, a large number of students are benefited from this scheme. This scheme is only for the students belonging to the backward classes such as SC/ST/OBC and not for general category students.
