Collegedunia Team: Describe the general setting of WAT / GD (if any).

Vanshika: WAT was conducted after the entrance exam in online mode. It was a 15-20 minute proctored test. We were given a link to access the WAT and there was an option to choose from 3 topics. Plenty of space was given to write the answers. To prepare for GD/WAT students should mainly focus on the current happenings.

For example- The budget, what is happening in businesses, main headlines about what is happening in the country like Ukraine-Russia War. GD/WAT topics can range from something very generic to specific topics so you need to have a basic understanding.

Pro Tips: You can go through articles and newspapers. There are many websites and YouTube videos that provide guidance on what topics can be asked as it keeps on changing depending on the current happenings.

Collegedunia Team: What was the WAT/GD Topic?

Vanshika: There were three topics from which you had to choose one to write upon.

  1. Effects of social media on today's world.
  2. Use of steroids and other drugs to enhance performance in sports.
  3. India to overtake China as the Supply Chain Giant.

Collegedunia Team: What was your answer/points put forward for the WAT or GD respectively?

Vanshika: I chose to write upon the Effects of Social Media on today's world, where I talked about the positives such as how Social Media has enabled many small businesses to widen their reach, how customers are getting access to new products and services from all over the globe. Information is very readily available on social media. How it helps to form opinions and have a basic understanding of the happenings around the world.

Then I talked about the ill effects of social media and how it distracts employees from their work as well as students from their academic commitments. Virtual bullying is also one of the darker sides of social media. Social media is also used to circulate false information which sometimes leads to serious consequences like riots in case of political topics.

Collegedunia Team: Describe the general setting of your personal Interview.

Vanshika: The personal interview was conducted by a panel consisting of two members in an online mode. The interview went around for roughly 20-25 mins. To prepare for the interview one of the most important things is that you should feel confident while answering the questions. It is not necessary that you should know the answer to every single question. It is better to say that you cannot recall the answer at the moment or you don't know the answer. One should not waste time by giving irrelevant answers.

Pro Tips: You should read newspapers on a daily basis so that you are aware about the current happenings. Even if it's not a newspaper, you can download some apps that provide news like inshorts.

Collegedunia Team: Mention at least 5 questions that were asked in NMIMS Bangalore Interview and how you responded to each of them?

Vanshika: The questions asked during the Interview are:

Ques 1. Why do you want to pursue an MBA?

Ans. I feel that MBA as a course has a very holistic approach and can help me gain better operational and functional knowledge of organisations and businesses. The kind of practical learning that this course offers will help me to enhance my managerial skills and tacKle the challenges of the corporate world and also handle managerial positions in the most difficult environment.

Ques 2. Tell us something about yourself?

Ans. I mentioned my hometown and my graduation degree and my extra curricular activities that I did during my graduation.

Ques 3. A follow up question - During your graduation which was your favourite subject?

Ans. I said that Economics was my favourite subject.

Ques 4. Another follow up question based on subject knowledge- What is giffen goods? What is say's Law?

Ans. Giffen goods are those goods for which demand also increases with an increase in price and vice-versa. Say's Law states that the supply of a good or service creates demand for that good or service i.e. supply creates its own demand.

Ques 5. Talk about any 3 points that were highlighted in the budget?

Ans. The budget said that there would be a 30% tax on profits earned from cryptocurrency transactions. No relief for middle class people as the tax slabs remain the same. India will develop charging stations on highways as it wants to promote the usage of E-vehicles.

Collegedunia Team: Mention any three reasons why you chose this college over other colleges which you converted.

Vanshika: The reasons were:

I converted to SIBM Bangalore and a few other colleges. I did not choose SIBM because I consulted with my coaching faculty and researched about which one is better on YouTube as well and talked to some friends who had already studied in those colleges. I chose NMIMS Bangalore because it had been growing rapidly even though it is a comparatively new institute, the placement records were also decent.

One of the reasons for choosing NMIMS Bangalore was that it provided an option for dual majors and Analytics was also an option as a major which was not available in most of the colleges. College provides very good opportunities to take part in events and competitions and there are various clubs and committees that you can become a part of. The fact that I like most about NMIMS Bangalore is that it is a completely student driven college and students are given plenty of opportunities to learn from organising events to taking part in case study competitions etc.

Collegedunia Team: What was the reason for you not converting other colleges?

Vanshika: I did not convert to the SIBM Business Analytics branch because I had not prepared well for the interview and it revolved a lot around analytics. I was asked technical questions about Data Analytics as I had mentioned that I had done a course on it during my graduation. I did not prepare well for that and couldn't answer most of the questions that were asked.
