The students of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) have started an online Social Entrepreneurship Programme (SEIP) for students of classes 11 and 12. The programme is designed to impart knowledge about entrepreneurship to students.

The two-week programme, which will commence on 8 June, is open to all students across the country.

“...We at Enactus SRCC have started the Social Entrepreneurship Introduction Programme. It is an approach by individuals, groups, startup companies, or entrepreneurs, in which they develop, fund and implement solutions to social, cultural, or environmental issues,” said Shruti Gaggar, a student of SRCC.

The programme will be tailored to meet the needs of students who are aged between 16 and 19: in other words, students who are preparing to enter college in the near future and want to learn about entrepreneurship qualities.

“The interactive programme is designed for students to gain a ‘virtual hands-on’ experience about the ins and outs of social entrepreneurship. The programme is administered by directors and founders of the most accomplished projects of India,” Enactus said.

The programme will provide students with an introduction to social entrepreneurship and the study of social ventures, the concept of innovation and the theory of change. They will also learn about the process of the business model and its development.

“Students will also be taught about feasibility studies and acquiring funds, and about how to conduct marketing and outreach. Sessions will be followed by a webinar with industry experts.

“Post sessions students would be given a set of problems to solve or activities that test the knowledge gained. This would allow the participants an opportunity to explore the application of their knowledge in the practical world.”

In the second week of the course, there will be a competition where students will be asked to come up with a business model to tackle a given problem. They will receive personalized mentoring for it.

200 students from across India will be selected after the screening of the registration forms.
