What program are you offering which helps students stand apart from the crowd?

“Physiotherapy and Occupational programs”

Physiotherapy career can rise to a variety of challenging and interesting jobs in the health care and management system. As a Physiotherapist, you can get specializations in the fields such as geriatrics, cardiorespiratory, orthopaedics and neurology. You can also get a doctorate degree and work in the research field. In the near future, there is a wide scope of physiotherapy and its applications in India and abroad.

What are the factors that make this program best for the students to opt?

“Practical instruction and clinical practices”

Students are taught to apply practical knowledge during clinical placements; a behaviour that indicates a positive attitude towards evidence-based practice. At the same time, students are novices and require basic background information more than research information. As novices, they tended to lean on their clinical instructors and are more eager to gain practical experience than practicing evidence-based; a behaviour that clinical instructors and adjunct teachers often supported. Both students and clinical instructors perceive a need for role models in evidence-based practice.

What do you think are your future priorities regarding the course?

“Potential faculty and research build up”

As HoD, my opinion is that Clinical instructors are in a position to influence students during clinical education, and thus, are important potential role models in evidence-based practice. Actions from academic and clinical settings are needed to improve competence in evidence-based practice among clinical instructors, and future research is needed to investigate the effect of such efforts on students’ behaviour.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

“Advance healthcare and society welfare”

Physiotherapy involves the holistic approach to the prevention, diagnosis and therapeutic management of pain, disorders of movement or optimisation of function to enhance the health and welfare of the community. From an individual or population perspective this is a service to humanity and thus helps the student to outperform. After completing 4 years of BPT, six months of compulsory internship is done in a multi-specialty hospital with rotating duties in different specialties of the hospital like medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, cardiac, neurology etc. which helps students to have practical exposure and guidance. Also, students are placed in well-built healthcare organizations with a pay package of 3-4 lakh per annum.

How does your department enhance the skills of the students?
