Er. Sunil Roa is the Academic Lead Coordinator at Vivekananda Global University. He is an MBA from SIBM-Symbiosis Institute of Business Management and has had 8+ years of experience in managing TIME Coaching for the entire state of Haryana with more than 500+ IIM Cracks to his credit. He was also awarded as the youngest TIME Director, in achieving P&L excellence for his centres at Panipat & Karnal. Currently at CTPL, he is focussing on delivering Academic Excellence for the CTPL courses.


How do you plan and strategize the activities to increase the students' outreach? 

“We usually run several programs both in offline and online mode”

The focus of the programs is to cater to the needs of students in every corner of India as well as abroad. Our outreach programs aim to increase awareness about various facets of education, the latest development in the industry and how VGU is going to help students to achieve their goals. We also emphasize a lot on addressing students’ queries and issues related to the admission process, selection rounds, loans, scholarships and other financial assistance. This year due to changed circumstances owing to Covid-19, we are more focused on online mode where every day, around 250 students interact with us through various methods. 


Have you introduced any new programs at your institute?

“We have introduced NextGen Programs in B.Tech, BCA, BBA, MBA and BJMC”

 Our programs are focused on getting the maximum exposure to the industry. Some of the highlights include: 

  1. Dedicated Career Development Centre- Individual Career Chart for each student
  2.  Faculty Directly from Industry- CEOs/CTOs for sessions and full courses
  3. Embedded Industry Certifications- Only University in India with EXIN powered certificates (EXIN is world’s No 2 IT Industry Certification Provider Company) o Immersive Study Plans- Hackathon, Case Studies

What do you think your role and responsibilities to the university and the students are?

“My primary task is to ensure that the highest quality of learning is imparted to the students”

Academic rigour loaded with the aim of 360-degree development of the students is the aim of my team, and I strive to achieve through an industry guided curriculum, a faculty mix from academia and corporate. An always ongoing partnership with the industry ensures that not only our curriculum matches the requirements of the sector, but also it leads to a higher level of placements.

What challenges do you face while promoting the new age programs? 

“The challenge lies in spreading the awareness related to these next-gen courses”

Even though people have started understanding the value of latest industry trends like AI, ML, Data Sciences, Cloud etc. but to take up these courses, students and parents need to have a deeper understanding about the prospects and applications of new technologies. Thanks to the online education platforms, sending out the right message to the right audience have become more accessible. 


When you came to this institution, what was your vision and how did you try to achieve them? 

“Our primary task remains to keep our students abreast to the current industry standards”

The idea was to bridge the gap between academic and industry so that the demands of the sector and students can be mapped to ensure both the sides get the maximum utilization. Our focus has always been on immersive study, and it has confirmed that industry experts do more than 33% of the teaching hours.

What would you like people to know about your university they may not know? 

“The labs and practical infrastructure that we have at VGU is unparalleled”

Be it labs for NextGen Courses like Artificial Intelligence or Cloud computing or the industrial labs by Bosch and Mitsubishi. VGU is the only university in Rajasthan to have a Mitsubishi lab in place. It speaks volume about the focus of the university towards quality practical training. Also the faculty members from IIT, NIT and other eminent institutes’ take classes for the full term at VGU which provides students with exposure from across the education spectrum.
