Punjab Technical University is a good university with a huge campus. I have completed my B.Tech. The university is just 10-13 km away from Jalandhar.

If you want to pursue your further studies from a foreign country or want to move abroad for a job, go to Punjab Technical University. This is because the degree from Punjab Technical University is quite famous in foreign countries as well. It is a great opportunity. 

After passing all the semesters and after completion of your course from PTU Jalandhar, you will get a degree certificate from the college. 

• For this you will have to log in to your PTU application by visiting this website support.ptu.ac.in and then enter your ID. 
• After that select the document you want and upload all your necessary documents required. 
• There you will get access to your degree. 
• But if you want the original copy of the degree, you will have to get a NOC and a clearance certificate from your college. 
• After getting those required documents you can go to the university and get your original degree from there.

There will be some instructions which you will have to follow and get some necessary documents signed, from the college before going to the university. You will also have to pay a required amount to get all your certificates.

You can do it online via an online portal or you can visit the campus for the same. This is the only option that you have. The documents that you need to carry with yourself are as follows:

• Diploma/Degree Certificate
• Attested copy of Matriculation certificate
• NOC from concerned college
• Original copy of First Information Report (FIR)
• Copy of requested certificate/Result Notification
• ID proof 

Along with this, ask them to give you a written declaration stating that you are a student of the college and have cleared all the subjects of the semester and that you require a duplicate DMC.

I know a few people from PTU. Here are some tips to score well in the PTU examination according to them. 

• Attempt the questions that you are confident about.
• Make sure to draw proper diagrams wherever possible.
• Make proper margins on the sides of your answer sheets.
• Use a black ink pen to write down important parts. 
• Try to write your answers as long as possible, fill the whole answer sheet as this will increase your chances of getting more marks on each answer. 
• Make sure to use technical terms in the answer.
• Attempt all questions, if possible. 

These are some common tips which you can use while writing your answers and it will help you to score higher marks.

PTU is a state university run by Punjab Government, thus it is purely a government university. It was established as Punjab Technical University and renamed as I K Gujral Punjab Technical University.

Many students have doubts regarding the same because PTU has a lot of affiliated colleges and most of them are private. CGC Landran is one of the many colleges affiliated with PTU and it is a private college too. 

At present, Punjab Technical University has 121 AICTE and 65 UGC institutes affiliated with it. The university has changed its name and is now known as IKGPTU abbreviated as Inder Kumar Gujral Punjab Technical University.

Both PTU and GNDU are very reputed and popular colleges for engineering and both of these colleges have their own advantages. 

• If you want to choose a college based on placements, then go for GNDU as the placement opportunities available here are very good. 
• If you are getting a seat in the main campus of GNDU, then go for it without any doubts. 
• But there are some colleges too under PTU, which have decent placements. 
• The course you choose is as important as selecting a college. 
• There are some courses where PTU is better but there are some courses too where GNDU takes the lead. 
• If you want to choose branches such as mechanical, civil, electrical then you should probably go for PTU. 
• But if you want to opt for courses like CSE or Electronics choosing GNDU will be better. 

Hence, it now all depends on you on which courses you are more interested in and want to pursue it. So first choose a course and then decide your college based on the course, your interests and requirements. 

One of my friends also attended the PTU counseling. Here’s what I got to know from him. There is a very uncomplicated method for applying for PTU Counseling devised for aspirants. 

• You need to visit the official website for PTU and register your name for counseling. 
• Make sure that you apply for fee waiver counseling. 
• On registering your name, a dialogue box appears regarding the payment. The amount required to be paid amounts to INR 2000. 
• After payment, a form with your academic details would pop up. 
• From the number of options, you have to choose the branch and institute of preference along with your JEE rank and then proceed to submit the details filled. 
• Make sure that you have entered the correct information otherwise you will face some hurdles in your counseling.
• The counseling is held virtually/online. Several rounds are held simultaneously during the counseling session. 
• At the end of every round, the allotment is displayed on the official web portal.

Kindly go through the procedure carefully. Not many aspirants are aware of the fee waiver counseling that makes your fee less by 70%. Since you have the opportunity, you should grab it and register accordingly.

Although you have joined late studying for 1st semester at PTU, still you have very good chances to score well in your exams. If you work hard enough and be sincere with your studies it is definitely possible.

• You should first make a time table and start preparing according to that. 
• If some subjects seem to be difficult then give some extra time to those subjects and try understanding the concepts properly. 
• If you are having any doubts regarding a chapter then discuss it with your teachers. 
• Don't put much pressure on yourself in 1st semester itself. 
• Keep working hard and try to give your best. 
• Interact with peers, teachers and seniors, they can guide you as well. 

Thus joining late would not affect your study patterns and exams, as you will get enough time to prepare for it.

Yes, it is okay to apply for both graduation and post-graduation transcripts from the same account of PTU. The only condition is that you should complete both the bachelor's and Master's degrees from the PTU. In recent years, the WES evaluation process has evolved and changed. According to the new process, the documents are not supposed to be changed by the students. Only the University is allowed to deliver the transcripts to the students. Hope this clears your doubts. 

If your current location is out of Punjab, you must know that PTU is a distant educational university. There is a possibility for you to change your university in the middle of your bachelor’s degree or your post-graduation degree. 

• According to the rules, there is a certain amount you would be demanded as a university fee.
• You would be required to check this with the concerned section in PTU. 
• There are certain rules and guidelines that are to be followed strictly regarding admissions and readmissions. 
• Hence, to have adequate and appropriate knowledge regarding the criteria sequentially you must consult with the concerned section officer in PTU. 
• If you are great at convincing people then things might work out in your favor as you would be required to persuade the in-charge officer, as to why you need to drop or change your particulars permanently.

Regarding the fee payment, the fee for the next semester is a prerequisite to be paid before the examination begins at the University.
