Pursuing a course at Jadavpur University is quite affordable, as opposed to other universities. It is incredible to believe that a university that ranks among the top 15 engineering colleges of India, costs less than most universities around the nation.

A typical student from the CSE department can receive an average salary package of about INR 19 LPA, while it is INR 8 LPA for departments of ECE, EEE, and IT. Lastly, the average salary package is INR 6 LPA for departments concerning Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Metallurgy, Construction, and Production.

To decide which college is better than the other, here are some things that you should consider. These parameters include the following. 

• Ranking: If you check the latest NIRF ranking, IIEST Shibpur ranks at 43rd position while Jadavpur University ranks in 12th position among the other institutes. 
• Top University: Jadavpur University has got the tag of “University” but IIEST Shibpur does not have any tag as of now. 
• Curriculum / Culture: Coming on to the important parameter, Jadavpur University has a very rich coding culture. This has helped in brushing up the skills of students up to a greater extent.
• Placements: Jadavpur University has a very strong placement cell and this is the reason for their outstanding placement stats year after year. On the other hand, IIEST Shibpur has an average placement stat. 
• Accommodation Facilities: IIEST Shibpur provides you with better facilities. There are separate hostels for separate batches and from 3rd year onwards, you can choose a single room. At Jadavpur University you might need to compromise because all the batches get the same hostel.
• Changing Branch: One of the demerits of studying at Jadavpur University is that if you haven’t got your favorite branch after 1st year, after 3 WBJEE Counselling, spot round occurs depending on your WBJEE rank and that is the last chance to change your stream. Changing streams at IIEST Shibpur is a much easier procedure.

Both the institutes are the two legacies of this state and they both have produced extremely talented alumni. Though IIEST Shibpur does not have high placement records as of now one cannot predict what will happen after 4 years. So, don’t choose an institute solely based on the brand value. Just see if you are able to find the relevant stream or not. To get into one of these institutes, you really need a good score in WBJEE.

One of my friends is a senior studying in the third year of university. As per his experience, the university has no ragging culture. The seniors are considered elder brothers. They are helpful and guide you in all possible ways. They are far more reliable than the professors of the university.

There is a certainty that no one gets involved in the crime of ragging. The university is the safest and feels like home. In the end, when your seniors graduate, it feels like an emotional farewell. But they remain with you as your family.

I have a bunch of school friends who are studying at Jadavpur University. According to their experience, it is definitely good for engineering for the following amazing reasons:

• Faculty plays an important role while determining the quality of an institution. Fortunately, JU has a pretty great faculty who are supportive and experienced.
• The laboratory facilities are quite good for all branches.
• You can grab pretty good placement opportunities as well as good research facilities. It is a place where even your undergraduate projects or help in research are appreciated.
• You can even apply for the student exchange program through the Erasmus Mundus program.
• Jadavpur University is one of the eight colleges in India that can participate in the Hult prize organized by Bill Clinton.

At the end of the day, studying engineering at Jadavpur University will be worth it. You can enjoy good placements, foreign exposure, good campus culture, quality education, etc. 

First of all, never compare Jadavpur University with NIT Durgapur for the Engineering stream. Second important thing is, people usually prefer B.Tech and M.Tech students over the one who has opted for Dual degree program. The reason for this is dual degree programs are not valuable in industry or research.

Talking particularly about CSE, Jadavpur University is quite good and even better than the new IITs and most of the NITs. Among the given options, CSE at Jadavpur University is the best option to opt for. You will enjoy your studies here. You will have a good range of research projects. You will get abundant internship opportunities from here. Although placements at JU are not as great as compared to IITs, NITs, BITS, and IIITs.

The decision mainly depends on you and your preferences, not only about the subject but about your location preference, fees preference, etc. Jadavpur University being a government institution has lesser fees than IIIT Allahabad. JU is a reputed institution and if you are interested in coding you should definitely go for CSE at JU. It will provide you with the best knowledge and education on the respective subject.

Jadavpur University will always be better than IIIT Allahabad. The following points justifies the same:

• Jadavpur University has been ranked 12th by NIRF 2020 whereas IIIT Allahabad doesn’t even find a mention in the top 100 list.
• International Rankings - Jadavpur University CSE has been ranked right below the top 5 IITs and IISc. 
• All these people saying labs remain open one can code all they want. Students can code just as well on their laptop. 
• Coding is a minuscule part of computer science, students cannot get over this coding craze because it just gives them good jobs. 
• Computer Science is a vast subject and its backbone is its Department and research publications. 
• All of them are important but they all are secondary.

Though some people may be biased about their preferred institute. But if you compare between the given facts, you can definitely see that JU is far superior to IIIT Allahabad in every aspect. Being a Government institution the fees are also less than IIIT Allahabad, which is preferred by most of the students.
