I have friends from Jadavpur University and according to them, the department of architecture does not have a good placement record. But, here are some major pointers as to why the course at Jadavpur University is still renowned,

• Sanskriti is the annual fest of the university. It lasts for a week for the engineering students.

• Many well-known Bengali bands and musicians have given credits to Sanskriti as it helped them gain recognition. Some of these are Raghu Dixit Project, Advaita, and more.
• Jadavpur University, unlike other institutes, does not feature any famous bands or Bollywood singers. It features quality independent performers.

The best part is that no money gets out of the pockets of students. The university bears all expenses. Overall, there are many things to list, but the campus festivals are the best way to unite.

CGPA, or SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) in Jadavpur University is estimated using several weighted means. Every course of the institute has credit points equal to the respective weights. The SGPA is equal to [summation(f *x)/summation(f)], where “f” denotes credit points, while “x” denotes the absolute grade point in a subject.

The summation, in a way, is supposed to be taken over in the courses per semester.

Here is how the administration signifies the absolute grade points,

• 90–100, grade S, grade point 10
• 80–90, grade A, grade point 9
• 70–80, grade B, grade point 8

Unlike the grading system followed in IITs, Jadavpur University typically follows an absolute grading system. NITs, quite similarly, use the highest grade point as 85–90, while the second highest is 75–85. Thus, the GPA would supposedly be less, as opposed to either NITs or IITs. For example, a 9 pointer is supposed to gain a percentage between the range of 75 to 85. But, in JU, a percentage of 78% will be a close GPA of around 8.3.

Choosing the college depends upon personal preference. If you have any skill for either of the subjects, go for it irrespective of the institute. Both of the institutes are good and will provide you with tremendous opportunities.

• Electronics as a specialization has got a booming market, which is demanded to create a lot of jobs presently.
• IIEST, becoming accredited with central status i.e Institute of National Importance, receives central government funding, as compared to state government funding for Jadavpur University. Therefore the infrastructure of IIEST is way better than Jadavpur University.
• IIEST now admits students from all over India, so you will get to interact with students from all over the country. This will boost your learning experience a lot.

Overall, if you need to decide between the given two choices then you should opt for Electronics at IIEST.
