As you have come up with this doubt, I assume that you have got a good rank in UPSEE. So, congratulations on securing a good rank in UPSEE that gave you the opportunity to choose from such elite institutions.

Unless and until it is an IIT, core branches are always a better choice than non-core branches.

Forget about non-core branches in UP government colleges, there is not much facilities and exposure. So, if you are getting a chance, it is highly recommended to go for CSE in BIET or KNIT because in CSE or IT, you just need a laptop and good internet connectivity and these colleges provide WIFI facility. You will have to indulge yourself in regular practice to bring the best out of yourself, as everything is available on the internet.

CSE would be a better choice if you look forward to getting placed after your graduation. If you want to pursue higher studies then, non-core branches at IET Lucknow will give you a better exposure such as coaching institutes, because of its location.

Since I have friends who have studied in IET Lucknow and also being from BIET Jhansi myself, I can provide you with a complete and elaborate answer. There are both good and bad things that make up a college, you cannot ignore one and accept the other. You have to accept it for both its strengths and its flaws.

Certain things that are proven to be good at IET Lucknow include - Firstly, its rank. IET Lucknow has a better rank than BIET Jhansi, which provides a promotional appeal to the interested candidates. Secondly, The faculty of IET is also better and experienced than BIET. Due to IETs popularity, it always attracts top companies during placements, seminars and events. Lastly, More students from IET tend to excel in CAT, GATE, XAT exams than BIET.

Surely if there are pros, there will be cons as well. It is often complained by students that the faculty members sometimes delve into groupism and favoritism. This becomes a very big problem for the students. Also students have claimed that the Hostel facilities are not up to the mark, which makes the living conditions for the students a bit unsatisfactory.

Similarly, like IET, BIET also has its fair share of pros and cons. The huge campus, overall wifi facilities, power back up in the hostels, individual rooms for all the students and a huge library comprise the pros. This also includes the picturesque location it is situated in. While this location becomes a disadvantage during placements. There is always a lack of popular companies for placements. Also the groupism among the students and a weak faculty also are the reason for BIETs not so good performance.

Finally, it is always advised that you may choose the college which suits your interests, but definitely choose wisely.

Bundelkhand Institute of Engineering & Technology (BIET) is an autonomous institute funded by the UP Government. The institute is affiliated to Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University. BIET is approved by AICTE and is recognised by UGC.

KIET (Krishna Institute of Engineering & Technology) is affiliated to Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow. It is a self-financed organisation.

Bundelkhand Institute Of Engineering And Technology or BIET is a good option if you are looking for preparation for CAT, GATE, or further studies. The faculty of BIET is not up to par, while the placement cell is also not very helpful. 

Instead, KIET will be a good option. It has a good placement cell. Companies such as Capgemini, Wipro, TATA, Newgen, IBM, Adani, L&T, Reliance Industries, LG, VIVO, OPPO, Bata, HDFC Bank, Paytm, Dabur, NIIT, HSBC, and many others come for campus placement. The highest package for KIET students is INR 13.29 LPA, and the average is INR 4.14 LPA.

Therefore, KIET Ghaziabad is a better college than BIET Jhansi.

BIET Jhansi is an institution known for the fact that their students are capable enough to study and learn about the subjects all by themselves. The college encourages the fact that the students need little to no guidance from the institute itself. My sister was pursuing CS from BIET and she mentioned that the IT branch in the college is self-financed.

Students aiming for better salary packages and job opportunities have to work hard on their own. The complete dependence on the institute without much of your effort, will only provide you with the basic and comparatively lower salary package of 3 LPA.

If you are planning to have a bright future in the IT field, it is a good idea for you to start learning and practicing all the coding languages beforehand and try attempting beginner level problems as well.

Moreover, please note that IT is one branch which needs a little more dedication and sincerity as compared to the other branches of engineering studies. Hence, whatever college/university you choose for IT, hard work and interest will push you to do your best.

In terms of placement statistics among KNIT Sultanpur, IET Lucknow and BIET Jhansi, IET Lucknow is the best. They are all government colleges but IET Lucknow has an advantage; It is located in the capital city of Uttar Pradesh and offers vast opportunities and exposure. JSS Noida is equally good; it is one of the most prestigious private colleges located in Delhi NCR.

IET Lucknow:

• IES has a better placement record as compared to the other colleges.
• It is also located in the capital city of U.P.

JSS Noida:

• JSS is affiliated to UPTU. Most students from this institute get placed due to its good location.
• In the Delhi NCR region, JSS is a reputed private college.
• The highest CTC offered at JSS is almost the same as IET.

If you have a choice between the two then go for IET Lucknow since It is a government college located in a prime location with an affordable fee structure. According to placements, the ranking order of the institute will be JSS Noida > IET > KNIT Sultanpur > BIET Jhansi.

When it comes to choosing one between BIET Jhansi and KNIT Sultanpur, a short and simple answer would be KNIT Sultanpur. To elaborate, KNIT Sultanpur is far better than BIET Jhansi keeping in mind the following factors:

1. Faculty
2. Infrastructure
3. Placements

When it comes to fees, there is not much difference. The fee structure of the institutions is quite similar. But, since KNIT Sultanpur is a government institution, it provides scholarship to its deserving students. It is easy to avail of the scholarship, considering the fact that you fulfil the criteria required.

KNIT Sultanpur exposes you to different kinds of forums. These forums will contribute to enhancing your skills and knowledge as well as will be helpful in self-development. This way you will be occupied and barely have time to waste. Also, there are many short term training programs within the campus of KNIT Sultanpur which will help you in gaining practical knowledge.

With a 7,300 general rank, you have a good chance of getting admission after the third round of counseling. You need to be observant about the cutoff of the institute for the year you are applying. As in certain cases, wherein students having ranks in thousands (30,000- 40,000) or even higher get admission at BIET Jhansi.

While in certain cases, due to the withdrawal of candidates at the last rounds of counseling, seats remain vacant. For which college conducts spot counseling to ensure all seats are getting occupied.

This actually depends on a number of factors. Normally, UP government colleges work on the principle of merit. So, if you have scored considerably high marks your chances of getting a scholarship invariably increases. Moreover, if you are from a financially weak family background, there are scholarships specially meant for candidates like you. Once you submit your family’s income certificates and other related documents, you are eligible for the scholarship. Before this, scholarships were often provided to students with names starting with the letter “A.”

The thing about getting a scholarship at BIET is that you are required to submit the fees at the starting of every year, which will later be refunded to your bank account by Samaj Kalyan Vibhag. Please note that all the scholarships being mentioned here, is only applicable to the tuition fees.

There is an option for candidates originating from UP, coming from poor family backgrounds that you can claim all your fees refunded by the end of the semester.

• Your father must not be a government service employee
• The total family’s income should be less than 4 lacs annually
• You should not be having any scholarship under your name from any other institute
