Philosophising Hansraj College

UA
7.0 /10

Remarks :

The admission process was quite smooth as admissions were based on a cutoff system of class 12th percentage back then at Delhi University. Philosophy Honours did not require studying any particular subject in class 12th as an eligibility criterion. The form was available on the website of university. The admission process now has changed since the inception of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)

Course Curriculum Overview :

Philosophy as a discipline offers a unique way to enhance your understanding and outlook towards the world. It opens up our minds and transforms us into thinking being. Thus, I opted for the course. The faculty is quite experienced and very humble. The ratio of faculty to students is optimum as Philosophy Honours is a relatively newer course at Hansraj College. The curriculum too is well designed, though some absurdities do exist. Examinations do not have a very heavy bearing as the number of papers is at a maximum of 5, thus giving ample time throughout the semester to prepare and develop a good understanding of the subject

Internships Opportunities :

Various internships are available in the field. The internship cell of Hansraj college helps students find what is apt for them. Internships provide a working experience and interaction with a lot of people.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees for the course do not take a lot of toll on someone, especially in comparison to other courses and colleges. Being an Arts course, there are surely lesser financial opportunities immediately after graduation but in the longer run, one can benefit a lot more

Campus Life :

The campus (North Campus) of the university is full of life and excitement. It's a lively place with lots of societies going about their programmes and providing opportunities for students to display their talent. The fests are well organised with everyone enjoying and making merry. Philosophy honours too has its own society, named Mimamsa, run by teachers and students together. It organises various events, especially lectures from renowned scholars and educators. The sports facility at the college is adequate with lots of opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I was from PCM (science) background in 12th board and I literally wanted to shift in the course of the art. And science students always look for what best subject in art which is ECONOMICS and we choose this. And the second reason is Economics is something challenging and It provides you to think bigger and know about the money and market. So these are the reason I selected this course. My class has 40 students and except for the Micro teacher, No one teaches very well. We are the first batch of CUET and we just got approx. 3 months to prepare for the semester with an increase in the subject. So that is always hard when you are getting experimented with new things.

Placement Experience:

Students from 2nd year or 5th semester are eligible for pre-placement offers. However, 1st-year students are eligible for internship opportunities only. Around 40 companies visited campus with their placement offers for Bcom. Hons, Bcom, B.A Hons Economics, & some BSc courses. Companies included some Big4 companies like KPMG, Deloitte, E&Y, Wipro, HCL & many more. My plan after getting the degree is to go for MBA or MA in Economics.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible from the 6th sem to sit for placements. Companies offering 6 lac to 37 lac visit the campus every year. I was placed in a multinational company with a very good package. People from stats maths and eco courses have higher chances of placement though.

Placement Experience:

From the first year onwards we are eligible for internship opportunities by internship cell. During our 6th sem, we are eligible for job interviews. The placement cell is working hard to review their work in a well-mannered form but still, they lag in bringing big companies to college for on-campus placement drives. Companies like byjus, Genpact, etc. came for placements and they offer full-time jobs for 4-6 lacs package varying from the post they offer. The highest package could go up to 7-8 lacs and on average it's 2 lacs. They offered a various range of profiles to get into. The percentage should be more than 65% at least to get the final placement done smoothly. Plans for graduation are going for higher students in this subject only who want to have a PhD degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

All faculty members were helpful throughout the course and encouraged me to excel in other domains as well. But some teachers just didn't care about the students and were attending classes just for the sake of it. My college was a girl college and there were some male and more female faculty members. Exams were conducted according to the academic calendar released by the college before the start of the semester.
