English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, formerly known as Central Institute of English was established in 1958. The aim of EFLU was to impart quality training for teachers in English which further introduced additional foreign languages such as Arabic, French, German, Japanese, etc. and was hence renamed as Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) in 1972. English and Foreign Languages University is accredited by NAAC with an A Grade. The University was ranked in the 151-200 rank band of University category as per NIRF 2023 rankings. EFLU Scholarship

The University offers a Scholarship to PG students who hold excellent academic records and are from a weak economic background. This scholarship is known as Indira Single Girl Child Scholarship for PG Students. Following are the details of the English and Foreign Language University Scholarship:

Indira Single Girl Child Scholarship

It is a UGC scholarship scheme initiated with the objective to empower the girls of our country through the means of education. The government introduced Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship to compensate for the direct cost of girl education while pursuing higher education. This scholarship is for those girls who are the only child of their parents. 

Scholarship Amount: 

INR 36,200 per annum for a period of 2 years.

Eligibility:

  • Girl Students must be pursuing a PG course from the University.
  • She should be the only child of her parents.
  • Candidates must not be more than 30 years of age at the time of admission into the PG program.
  • Candidates admitted to the PG course through distance education mode are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Also, there are no income criteria for students to be eligible for this scholarship.

  • A student application ID and password are generated on the registered mobile number.
  • log in to NSP using the newly generated ID and password. An OTP is sent on the registered mobile number using which the candidates must change their password, which is a mandatory step.
  • Once the password is changed, the candidates are directed to the Applicant’s Dashboard Page, 
  • Click on the ‘Application form’ to start the application process.
  • Applicants need to provide all the necessary details such as registration details, academic details, basic details, contact details, and scheme details.
  • All the required documents in support of identity and academic eligibility must be uploaded by the applicants.
  • Now, the filled-in application form must be saved as a draft so that the applicant can check every detail once again to make sure they are correct.
  • Finally, the candidate must click on the ‘Submit’ button to submit the completed scholarship application form.

EFLU Fellowships

The English and Foreign Languages University offers Fellowships to students who are pursuing a Doctoral program. Following are the details of English and Foreign Languages University fellowships:

UGC Junior Research Fellowships

For candidates who have qualified at the national level test conducted by the UGC. INR.16000/- per month and a contingency grant of INR 10,000/- per year. HRA as per University rules, if living outside the campus.

Senior Research Fellowships

Candidates who have been awarded UGC Junior Research fellowship for two years may be considered for the award of UGC Senior Research fellowships after a review. INR 18000/- per month and a Contingency Grant of INR. 20,500/- per year.

UGC Non-NET Fellowships

All research participants who are not in receipt of any other fellowship/scholarship will be given fellowships as follows: Ph.D. INR 5000/-month for 3 years, extendable by one year. Contingency Grant INR 8000/- per annum
