What students say about Punjab Engineering College University of Technology - [PEC]

Likes

  • For someone who has a keen interest in mechanical engineering, PEC is one of the best places to be.
  • Some of the companies that visit PEC are Microsoft, Amazon, JP Morgan, McKinsey, Bain, Maruti Suzuki, Hero, L&T, and many more.
  • The best companies visit the college; however, if you are not from the computer and science branch, the opportunities are fewer.
  • The college provides a good number of scholarships for both the best students and the economically weaker sections.
  • College has a very good sports infrastructure, as well as having very good instructors.
  • The first year has a sharing hostel, but the new rooms in the Shivalik hostel are awesome.
  • This college is the best college for developing engineers who can work in any condition and achieve the best results. Furthermore, it is situated in the foothills of Shivalik, which is an added advantage.

Dislike

  • Our HoD says that everything is our fault and that we dont take teachers and studies seriously.
  • We students are blamed by our teachers for not continuing with our core subjects.
  • If they are not happy with us and say that students lack practical knowledge.
  • But some of the hostels are in very poor condition, not worth what we pay for them

Placement Experience:

7 th semester students become eligible for campus placements. A number of different companies visit which cant be listed like apple, Microsoft, etc. The highest package is 84lpa and the average package is 10lpa. 90percents students get placed and my plan is business after my studies.

Remarks:

12th pass student is eligible for the course and admission is held through JEE mains one can find the application on the NTA website and all details under that section cut-off varies from 90 percentile to 97 percentile. I have not availed of any reservation benefits but are available in college. The overall admission process is good.

Placement Experience:

7th-semester students start having their tests and interviews for placements. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Apple, arcesium, JP Morgan, Airbus, Uber, Flipkart, etc. visit the campus. The highest package this time was 86 lakhs CTC to six students and the average package is 14 lakhs. Mainly they offer coding and finance-related profiles. More or less everyone who sits in the placements gets placed, the percentage is above 90. I also want to get a good placement in an MNC.

Remarks:

The admission in the college are through JEE Mains exam. NTA conducts the JEE Mains exam twice a year and best of those two is selected for the final result of a candidate. You need to have atleast 13k rank for CSE with home state (Chandigarh) quota and 9k if applying from other state quotas in general caste. There is also quota available for EWS, Kashmiri migrant, SC/ST/OBC and sports.

Placement Experience:

I have given 10/10 on placements and really placements are just of IIT levels, Overall average was 16.7LPA and for CSE it was 25LPA, ECE 18.7LPA, EE 15.3LPA, so placements are excellent, only the TOP 5 NITs can compete for PEC in terms of placements, Highest On campus was 83LPA which was given to 5 students, companies like Apple, Microsoft, Amazon regularly visit campus for placements and internships. So if you enjoy and do some hard work side by side you will easily grab a good placement here.

Remarks:

Mode of admission is through JEE Mains, If you get a good rank in JEE Mains you can apply for PEC through JOSAA and CSAB counselling, or admission can be taken by sports, PMSSS(if you have that benefit).

Remarks:

Course Curriculum Overview:

In CSE and ECE branches college placements are quite good. The student-faculty ratio is about 1:15. Most of the faculty members are Ph.D. holders from renowned institutions in the country. They are always ready to solve problems faced by the students. College exams were of mediocre level i.e if you study well whole semester you will not face any problem and can pass exams with good cgpa. The curriculum of the syllabus is also not quite difficult.

Remarks:

If you want to get admission to PEC you have to give JEE MAIN exam and have to secure a decent rank around 10-12K if your aim is to get the CSE branch and around 18 k for the data science branch. For the rest of the cutoff, you may refer josaa counseling website. You can apply for this college through JOSAA and CSAB counseling. Reservation for various categories are present here and students can take admission through sports quota also. Admission process is quite simple and same as most of the government engineering colleges.

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college is good, they provide on-campus placements with a good average package In 6th semester the student has a chance to grab an internship which ranges upto 1 lakh also if we see this year's record And after that in 4th year they can get placed with decent packages The major companies visited were APPLE, GOOGLE, MICROSOFT, PHONE PE, J.P. MORGAN, GOLDMAN SACHS and many more No. Of PPOs, students got 149, and the highest stipend was 1.6 lakh offered by uber for an internship Above 40% of people preferred software followed by analytics(24%), core(17%), consulting(9%), and Finance(2%). Around 700 offers were there and the highest package grabbed by 5 students was of 83.5 lpa (4 CSE and 1 ECE) and the overall average was around 14 lakhs and above 70% of students were placed having 91% highest in CSE Major high packages were offered in software roles followed by other profiles After the degree, I wish to gain some experience from a job so I could start something new after that.

Remarks:

The admission process is simple to understand, we need to give an entrance exam called JEE which is very famous in India, people who got 75%+ in their 12th boards in stream PCM can apply for the exam. After giving the exam we need to wait for the result in which our rank is declared and after that counselling process is done by govt. colleges which allot colleges and streams to students if they filled that in the list, according to their ranks. The application form for jee is released by nta on their website nta.nic.in and application fees at my time was 650 per exam attempt, it's a Little bit higher now. Students with good ranks in jee mains can get this college and the cut-off for my stream(E.C.E) was around 27K rank for general, 35k for E.W.S, for SC, ST it was around 1.5 lakh and for P.W.D it was around 5.8 lakh There was no girls quota but these were the reservations available which I have mentioned above.

Placement Experience:

After 6th semester, students are eligible for campus placements. A lot of companies come like Amazon, Maruti, Honda, and Companies like JP Morgan sure take up a lot of Students from our campus. The highest package has been around 70 LPA, And if I say for Mechanical 80-90% of Students are placed with the highest 43 LPA in Mechanical. Well for me, I am not sure yet what to do next

Remarks:

The admission process is through the clearance in the JEE Mains Exam that is held each year, As for my Course i.e. Mechanical the average cutoff that went was around 90% percentile in the exam. All the application details and fees related things were done on JOSAA Website as far as I remember.

Placement Experience:

Placement opportunities are very good in the college. Students go for internships in the 6th semester and are eligible for placements from the 7th semester. A lot of companies from a variety of fields visit campus and provide ample opportunities. The average placement percentage is around 80%. My plans are to get a good campus placement.

Remarks:

Admission is based on jee Mains exam conducted by NTA. The admission process is conducted by jossa and the cutoff varies year to year for mechanical is generally around 40k for other states. There's a Chandigarh quota where it can be as high as 70k.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is very nice. Even that's why I opted for this college. From the 7th semester, students are eligible for placements. Companies like JPMC, UBER, Amazon, events, and many more. Approximately 90% of students got placed here. My plans after getting the degree are to work for at least 2 years and then for higher studies.

Remarks:

The admission process is totally based on JEE entrance exam, which has two exams JEE mains and JEE advanced. The admission process in colleges other than IITs is based on qualification rank in JEE Mains. You can find its form on their official site i.e. JOSSA, Where all the latest information and updates are provided.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are well and good and decent enough. We have a CDGC department in our college which is there to help students with their placements. 7th and 8th-semester students are eligible for campus placements. More than 150 companies visited. 90% of people here are placed well. My plan after my degree is to be a CEO of big MNCs and software companies.

Remarks:

The admission process in PEC, Deemed to be University is totally based on JOSAA(JEE). Electrical engineering here I got with AIR 23000 in general quota another state. So everything here is based on JoSAA. We have to apply to josaa and fill in our preferences accordingly, like the preference of branch and college. But make sure to check previous year cut-offs of this college for this branch (Electrical) on College dunia itself. Here are many quotas like SC/ST/Ews/defence/Kashmiri migrant/sports. The admission process is well and good here!
