IGNOU MBA is a 2-year distance learning program with specializations in Banking & Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Service, and Operations Management. Recently, the university has also started IGNOU Online MBA program course which is approved by AICTE. Admission to the MBA program at IGNOU is conducted in two cycles, i.e. January and July Cycles. In order to be eligible for admission, candidates must have passed a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised university. IGNOU MBA Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for admission to the MBA program at IGNOU, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree of minimum three years and have scored minimum 50% aggregate marks
  • In the reserved category, 45% in Bachelor's is mandatory.

For MBA (Banking and Finance)

  • Must have passed Bachelor's of minimum three years with 50% marks.
  • 5% relaxation provided to reserved category candidates.
  • Should have passed CAIIB examination of Indian Institute of Banking & Finance, Mumbai and would have been awarded required credentials/ qualification by the institute.
  • Should have been working with the Banking or financial sector for a period of at least two years.

IGNOU MBA Admission Guidelines

IGNOU MBA admission for the January 2024 session will be granted on the basis of merit secured in the qualifying degree. The university will be not be conducting IGNOU OPENMAT entrance exam for admission to the MBA program. Eligible candidates can directly apply online on the official website of the university. Selected candidates shall be notified through text message and email on their registered mobile number and email id.

IGNOU Online MBA

IGNOU online MBA program is a 2-year postgraduate degree program that is approved by AICTE. The course will be conducted through digital mode only and the students will not be required to attend offline classes at the IGNOU study centers. Students will receive self-learning study materials in the digital form of E-lectures, IGNOU E-Content, etc. to complete the course.

IGNOU Online MBA Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for admission to online MBA at IGNOU, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • A 3-year bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks from a recognized university.
  • A relaxation of 5% (45% marks) is given to SC/ST candidates.

The MBA programme consists of 28 courses:

  • 20 Core Courses
  • 7 Specialisation courses

Students have to select 7 courses in each semester.

  • The School of Management Studies offers numerous specializations such as Human Resource management, Financial Management, Operations, Management, Marketing Management, and Services management in the MBA program.
  • Total credit weightage in 28 courses is 116.
  • Core courses have 80 credit points, 8 credit for project, and 7 Specialisation courses with 28 credits. 

Evaluation

The system of evaluation is based on: 

  • Continuous evaluation in the form of assignments (weightage : 30%) 

This component carries a weightage of 30%. There will be one graded assignment per course. The assignment is to be submitted to the Coordinator of the Study Centre to which the student is assigned or attached with. 

  • Term-end examination (weightage : 70%) 

Term-end exams will be held twice every year in the months of June and December. The students are at liberty to appear in any of the examinations conducted by the University during the year.

  • A student will be awarded the degree of completion of coursework only if they complete all the 28 specified courses. 
  • If a student wishes to exit the programme after completing the courses of first and second semester, he/she can exit on special request and will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDIM).

Note: In order to exit the programme students must have completed 56 credit points of first and second semester to be made eligible for the certificate.

IGNOU MBA Study Material and Assignments

Students enrolled in IGNOU are sent study material by Registered post/ Speed Post. The University also has a provision of providing soft copy of the self learning material. Students opting for soft copy will be given a discount of 15% in the program fees.

Simultaneous Registration

Students pursuing any program of one year or longer duration from IGNOU can simultaneously apply for any certificate program of six months. However, if one wants to pursue two degree programs from the same University or one from regular and other from IGNOU, is not permitted.

Students with Disability

Students pursuing MBA at IGNOU and belonging to the disability section of 40% or more are given additional two years beyond the maximum duration (4 years). For this, they should provide a disability certificate.

Ques. Can an applicant get an MBA degree from IGNOU without submitting the term end project?

Ans. No, an applicant must submit his/her term end project. An applicant might be called for a viva if the evaluator requires. The candidate must go for the viva as well. If he/she submits the project before December 1, their results would be compiled.Check IGNOU Study Material.

Ques. How much is the registration fee for MBA at IGNOU? Is the fee refundable?

Ans. The registration fee at IGNOU is Rs.200/- which is non refundable in nature. Apart from that, the program fee for the first semester is also charged at the time of admission. If one requests for cancellation of admission before the last date for submission of admission form, fee will be refunded after deducting ₹200.
