Course Details

Mangalore University is offering a two years Master of Social Work programme in five Specializations under Choice based credit system which enables students to pursue an interdisciplinary subject of their choice thereby taking its standard to global level. The Application process for MSW can be done in both offline/online mode. The Register for the course will start in October, 2021. 

The candidate having completed his graduation from a recognised institution is eligible to apply for the course. The selection procedure follows a merit-cum reservation system where 50% weightage is given to academic performance and 50% to the score in the entrance exam.

Mangalore University MSW Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must pass any bachelor level exam from any accredited Indian institution and have at least 45% of optional qualifications (40% for SC\/ST\/I candidates). 
  • The selection process follows a score and reserve system, that is, the scores of the general entrance examination and graduation examination account for 50-50% of the weight.

Mangalore University MSW Course Details

  • The Course duration is of four semesters with each constituting a minimum of 16 weeks (90 actual working days) of instruction and 2 to 4 weeks for preparations and examinations. 
  • Maximum period of completing the programme: Within 4 years from the date of admission or as decided by the University.
  • The student must have a minimum of 75% attendance in a course including tutorials and seminars in each semester. 
  • The programme comprises Core and Elective courses. 
  • The Core course consists of Hard and Soft core courses.
    • The Hard Core course has 4 credits. 
    • Soft core courses have 4 credits. 
    • Open Electives have 3 credits each. 
    • Total credit of the programme is 86 including open electives.
