IIT Bombay MDes admission 2024 are based on CEED Exam score. The registration process for CEED 2024 is ongoing now and the last date to register for the exam is October 31 (Without late fees)/ November 07 (With late fees). The admission process of IIT Bombay MDes admission will start in June 2024.

IIT Bombay is the conducting body of CEED 2024. IIT Bombay MDes program is a 2-year course offered by IDC School of Design. With INR 1.03 Lakhs of total fees, the institute places students in top-notch companies with an average salary package of INR 21 LPA. The minimum eligibility required for admission is a degree/diploma/post graduate degree programme of minimum THREE years (after 10+2 level). Candidates are selected for admission based on their marks obtained in the CEED exam.

How to Apply for CEED 2024:

CEED registration form must be submitted online through the official website,

The non-refundable registration fee for CEED is:

  • INR 1600 for all women candidates
  • INR 1600 for (SC / ST / PwD) candidates
  • INR 3200 for all other candidates

Documents required:

  • File containing your recent color photograph (jpg) Scanned copy of your signature (jpg)
  • Scanned copy of your degree/diploma certificate (pdf) if the course is completed.
  • If you do not have the final degree certificate, please upload a copy of the final year mark sheet or the provisional certificate.
  • If the course is not completed, a certificate from the Principal of the college or head of the department as per Appendix A should be uploaded.
  • Upload a scanned copy of your Higher Secondary Certificate (pdf).
  • Upload a scanned copy of your Birth Certificate, or Proof of date of birth (Passport, school leaving certificate, Class 10 certificate or Higher Secondary Certificate ) (pdf).
  • Upload the scanned Experience Certificate if applicable (pdf).
  • Candidates who are applying in the SC/ST/OBC (NC) category have to upload a valid category certificate (pdf) issued by the appropriate authorities.
  • Format of the OBC (NC) certificate is in Appendix B. OBC (NC) certificate issued only from April 01, 2020 onwards will be accepted.
  • Candidates who are applying in PwD category should upload a valid medical certificate issued by the appropriate authority as per Appendix C (pdf).
  • Candidates who are applying in Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Category should upload a valid EWS Certificate issued by the appropriate authority as per Appendix D (pdf).
  • Candidates whose name is not the same as the name on the degree/ diploma certificate should upload a gazette notification, marriage certificate or passport page showing the change in name (pdf).
  • Task A, B, and C for each stream applied for in pdf format.
  • File size for each task should not be more than 3MB, scanned documents should be 200 dpi or above.

IIT Bombay MDes Exam Pattern 2024

The examination will consist of two parts, Part-A and Part-B. Candidates must attempt questions from both the parts. Marks obtained in Part-A will be used to shortlist candidates. Part-B answer books will be evaluated manually ONLY for those candidates who are shortlisted from Part-A. The final CEED score will be calculated by giving 25% weightage to marks obtained in Part-A and 75% weightage to marks obtained in Part-B, after the above calculation.

IIT Bombay Interactive Design Course Details:

The Interactive Design course at IDC, IIT Bombay is a two year program focusing on interactive media, mobile communication applications, interfaces for software applications, interactive gaming, and learning applications. The program focuses especially on the needs of the Indian industry.

  • The first-year coursework has a total of 72 credits.
  • The total credits offered by the end of M.Des. course in Interaction Design ranges from 156 to 164.
  • In the 4th Semester, students have an option to overload up to 8 credits. 
  • The 3rd Semester involves a Summer Project lasting from mid-May to mid-June and a Design Project lasting from mid-June to the end of November
  • The 4th Semester has 2 design projects, the first one lasting from December 1st to the end of February and the other one lasting from March to April /June.

Ques. How to prepare for the CEED test for Interaction Design at IDC, IIT Bombay?

Ans. The test is about one and a half hours long and tests a candidate’s creativity to solve simple design problems. The test focuses on Problem Analysis, Creativity, Alternate Concepts, Justifications for Solutions, and Visual and Textual Presentation Skills.

Ques. How is the admission for the Interaction Design course at IDC, IIT Bombay?

Ans. The interview involves 3 to 4 faculty members of IDC and candidates are given an opportunity to present design related initiatives and creative works prepared by them, including earlier student projects or professional works. The interviewer asks about the student’s future plans, background, portfolio, strengths and weaknesses, aptitude to design, creativity, and openness to new ideas, etc.

Ques. What documents are required for admission at Interaction Design, IIT Bombay?

Ans. Candidates need to bring all the original certificates from higher secondary onwards and the CEED scorecard, testimonials with Xeroxed attested copies of each. If candidates have completed final exams but are waiting for results, they must bring a certificate from the Principal/ Registrar of the Institute to that effect.
