Rajarambapu Institute of Technology was established in 1983. It is an autonomous institute formerly known as the College of Engineering, Sakharale. The main goal of RIT is to attain the status of academic autonomy and deemed university within the next five years. The institute houses a very qualified and accomplished team of faculty members with years of experience and expertise. Students at the institute can enjoy the state of the art infrastructure and world-class facilities offered to them, including high-speed internet, hostels, messes, 24x7 medical care, and more. 

The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in several specializations under business and engineering departments.  Most of the programs are accredited and reaccredited by NBA, AICTE, New Delhi. The admissions are granted on the basis of national level entrance examinations such as GATE, JEE Main, MHT CET, CAT, CMAT, MAT, etc and as per the guidelines of AICTE and DTE. The institute has also had a very impressive placement record over the years with over 550 students getting recruited in the recent placement drive.

RIT Islampur houses a very dedicated and active placement team that regularly organizes placement drives as well as professional training.
