Talking about my experience, I got a decent mark in CAT, so I got a call from the XIMB BM program. First, They took my interview, and then after 15 to 20 days shortlist will come. Generally, because of covid-19, only personal interviews happened, but before Covid 19, they took selection in 3 steps like Written ability test, a Group discussion, and a Personal interview at last. First, two steps are part of the elimination round. After we get shortlisted, we have to pay 3000 to retain your seat and after your conversion to this institute, you will have to pay another 47000 to this college. I don't recall the exact dates, but the first list came around April 1st, a week, then after ten days, it moved.

A three-year Bachelor's Degree(or equivalent) from a recognized university in any discipline with at least 55% marks in aggregate is required for admission to MBA-BM. The college application form is available on their official website. ( ximb.edu.in) The application process date is flexible; this academic year was from September 8th, 2022 to January 20, 2023, and the application fee was 1600. I took the XAT entrance exam and applied through the same channel for MBA-BM. XIMB takes the scores from CAT, XAT, GMAT, NMAT(XIMB-HRM program only), and X-GMT( test conducted by XIMB itself). XIMB has a domicile reservation for Odisha resident applicants only. The cutoff for the different entrance tests and the reservation and non-reservation candidates are different and the cut-offs are communicated by the administration once they declare the list.

Admission:

I applied to XIMB using my CAT scores. There is a separate application for XIMB which is available on the site. The eligibility criteria for the course is that one must hold a bachelor's degree of a minimum of 3 years of duration with equivalent marks of 55%. Additionally, one must clear the CAT cutoff ( If applied through CAT) depending on domicile or non-domicile quotas. Application cost is around Rs 1600 and it opens in mid-September. The admission process is fairly simple- I got an interview invite once my eligibility criteria were met. Post my interview I got an offer letter from the college for admission. Once I accepted the offer, I was given a buddy to connect to as well as further information about joining and campus life.

Ques. Is it worth taking admission in XIMB for global mba?

● Top Answer By Sikha Yadav on 09 Jul 21

First of all, no college or university can guarantee your placements. There is a placement cell in the college that takes care of placements, but Global MBA students cannot get decent placements by depending on the placement team. Any college can only provide you with a degree and tag. To get a decent job you have to search on your own. Investing so much in Global MBA is not a good idea. Also, ROI is an important factor, which is why it is suggested that you do not invest in it. Categories XIMB for Global MBA Course Fee 20.30 lakh Course Duration 2 years Highest CTC 26 LPA Average CTC 15 LPA Recruiting Companies Nestle, PwC, Crisil, CitiBank, etc. It is not worth taking admission to Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB) for a global MBA. Ques. Is It worth to join B schools like IMT/IMI/XIMB whose fees are around 20 lakhs if I have calls from reputed government colleges on par with these?

● Top Answer By Suntonu Basu on 13 Mar 23

Before I talk about the worth of private B Schools like IMT/IMI/XIMB, let’s consider their average packages. B School Average Package IMT  INR 17.35 LPA IMI Delhi INR 17.01 LPA XIMB INR 20 LPA The average package of government colleges like IITs and DSE is slightly less around INR 10.57 LPA. So the point is if you are ready to invest a hefty amount in B Schools, you will not regret the decision as they are game changers. The level of exposure and diversity is almost higher than in Government colleges. IITs, DFS and DSE MBAs have a more theoretical approach than a practical one. However, the figures for private B schools are inflated so do consider the ups and downs. IITs are best for operations and manufacturing industries IMT or XIMB is a good option for Marketing DFS or IMI are best suited for Finance XIMB or DSE are best for HR The final decision is up to you. Try to find what exactly you want from MBA If you are looking for the IIT tag, then IIT If you are after ROI or PhD then DSE or DFS If you want to climb the corporate ladder, XIMB is the best Make a well-informed decision after proper research....Read more

Ques. Which college should I prefer for Finance: XIMB BM, IMT G or IMI Delhi?

● Top Answer By Pinaki Dasgupta on 03 Mar 23

In choosing your B-school, the primary factors that you should consider are, the specialization you want to opt for and the ROI you are expecting. In your case, you want to go for Finance. The list of preferred B Schools you mentioned has similar fees and placements so I will be answering solely based on specialization. Finance: IMI Delhi is the best choice of all the options when it comes to Finance. A premium quality crowd opts for Finance at IMI Delhi and the main reason is the customized MBA program in Finance. Many companies of the Finance sector visit the campus for placements. Finance students also avail the best opportunities and guidance and have a higher level of security than Marketing students. However, in case you have more than 2-3 years of work experience, IMI Delhi is not a suitable option. Although you may stand out among your batchmates, the companies visiting the campus are not aware of this and offer roles suitable for less experienced students only. So your work experience may not be credited here.  The general preference order should be: IMI D>XIMB>IMT G...Read more

Ques. Can I get admission at XIMB with poor academics?

● Top Answer By Pragya Tripathi on 13 Feb 23

A good percentile in the Common Admission Test (CAT) or Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) can greatly increase your chances of being admitted to the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB). These standardized tests are used as a measure of a candidate's aptitude and potential for success in a management program, and a high score can compensate for a lower academic record. However, it is important to note that while a high CAT or XAT score can improve your chances of being admitted to XIMB, it does not guarantee admission. Other factors such as work experience, essays, and personal interviews are also considered in the admissions process. Additionally, it is also important to consider other factors like the program offerings, campus culture, and location when applying for an MBA program. If you're unable to secure a spot at XIMB, there are other colleges with strong MBA programs that may be a good fit for you. These schools may also place more weight on other factors such as work experience, academics, and essays. It is important to research different colleges and their MBA programs, and carefully consider which one is the best fit for you. It is also important to note that the MBA program is not only about the college's reputation, it's also about what you want to achieve in your career. So, it is important to think about your career goals before finalizing any college....Read more

● Top Answer By Isha Parasramka on 13 Mar 23

XIMB is one the top B schools in India and MBA in Business Management is its flagship course. Whether you should join it or not is your call depending on your inclinations and preferences. However, my answer entails various reasons why one must consider XIMB. XIMB has a 31-year-long legacy which has resulted in its rich lineage, great faculty members, and an elaborate alumni base.  The institute is known for its research culture and development activities on a regular basis in collaboration with the government. XIMB is granted the South Asian Quality Assurance Systems (SAQS) accreditation by the Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA) and the NBA Accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation for a period of 5 years for PGDM. Unlike most B Schools it offers an MBA degree rather than a PGDM Diploma. An MBA gives a holistic view of the program while a PGDM focuses on a specific specialization. XIMB also offers international exchange of students not only through the college but also through student-driven committees. The faculty at XIMB are experts in their respective fields and have immense industry experience which is reflected in their pedagogy. In the second year, you get an opportunity to do a double major, major plus minor in whichever fields (i.e. Marketing, Finance, operations, etc) we would like to gain knowledge and experience in. This gives us an opportunity to gain cross-functional knowledge and explore beyond our comfort zone, a quality required in the corporate world.  XIMB encourages extra-curricular/ co-curricular activities combining activities and academics which helps you to learn how to become a better manager and put your theoretical knowledge to the test.  Business seminars and talks hosted by industry leaders from every field are common in XIMB. These business talks help the students increase their practical knowledge with quality industry exposure.  XIMB holds a strong alumni base with alumni at top positions in various companies.  XIMB gives due importance to academics and learning through various projects, competitions, case studies, live projects, and faculty projects.  The students are constantly evaluated through quizzes and assignments to keep them on their toes. This helps them adjust to the hectic schedule they face in the corporate world.  Overall, the campus life at XIMB is unique and complete as it is a B-School that is forever awake....Read more

Ques. What do I have to do to get a call from SP Jain or XIMB?

● Top Answer By Manu Jha on 13 Mar 23

My answer will be strictly pertaining to SP Jain as my sister is a student there and I have quite a lot of information about the admission criteria there. SP Jain has unique criteria wherein almost 70% of the parameters are uncontrollable. Some of them include  Past Academic Record Nature of work experience and employee brand value  Extracurricular background  Diversity of profile These are some factors that are hardly in one’s control. So one should not be disappointed if she/he lacks in these aspects. Well, it is now that the factors that are controllable come into the picture. You can work on these factors and compensate for the flaws in your profile  Prepare for CAT/XAT/GMAT to the best of your ability. Filling out the application form with a genuine portrayal of your personality and candidature in the fields where you are asked about your versatility, leadership quality etc. If the stars align, you will surely get a call. From what I have heard, every PGDM batch has students with both exception profiles as well as normal profiles. So what you need to focus on is finding a unique trait of yourself and working on it relentlessly....Read more

Ques. Which one should I join, XIMB BM or IIM Amritsar?

● Top Answer By Khushboo Singh on 19 Jan 23

If you have to choose between XIMB and IIM Amritsar I will always suggest you go for IIM Amritsar. Apart from the IIM tag, its relentless growth is a major deciding factor. The ROI at XIMB is very less in comparison to IIM. The points below will help you understand my point. The fee of IIM Amritsar is INR 12 Lakhs whereas that of XIMB is INR 20 Lakhs.  The Average package is almost similar to the 2 colleges ( IIM Amritsar- INR 14.63 LPA and XIMB- INR 15.42 LPA). So when compared to the fees XIMB has a lower ROI than IIM Amritsar. IIM Amritsar has witnessed fast-paced growth in recent years. It is the only and best MBA college in the whole of Punjab The batch size is smaller than that of XIMB and it’s an extra benefit when it comes to placement opportunities. So IIM Amritsar is the best option among the 3 colleges....Read more

Ques. I have the following college options for joining in MBA i.e IIM Sirmaur, IIT Roorkee, SIOM Nashik and XIMB, Bubaneswar. Which order of preference is appropriate?

● Top Answer By Vaibhav Chavan on 19 Jan 23

p>To find the right order of preference conduct a thorough research of these colleges on the basis of these parameters batch strength faculty ROI Placement report You can also connect with the alumni of the respective colleges and ask their personal opinions. The most suitable college for you is the one that satisfies your priorities. So the first step is to identify your priorities.  In case your priority is an IIM tag then Sirmaur is the one for you. For an IIT tag, IIT Roorkee is best for you  XIMB has high fees but it’s strong alumni base is what attracts many In case you are still unsure, enquire about the Median salary and compare it. Choose your college wisely as it’s the deciding factor of your career....Read more

Ques. My NMAT score is 222 and I am eligible for XIMB HRM. Should I join XIMB HRM having 30 months work experience in L&T?

● Top Answer By Ketan Ahuja on 13 Mar 23

Yes, you can easily get into XIMB HRM with your NMAT score. In Fact, there are many other B Schools that accept NMAT scores like The colleges in order of their ratings are- NMIMS Mumbai (212 and above) NMIMS Bangalore (199 above) NMIMS Hyderabad (190–195) XIMB (190–200) NMIMS Navi Mumbai (185+) Honestly, only NMIMS Mumbai and Bangalore are worth investing in.  One can certainly apply for the exam again but they must bear in mind that the cost of the exam is costly and you will have to apply separately and fill out forms for the exam as well as colleges again. NMIMS Mumbai lays great emphasis on your work experience So, even with an average performance in CDPI one can convert a call. NMIMS Mumbai enjoys a locational advantage being located in the finance and business hub of the country. It is among the 15 top B schools in the country...Read more

Ques. Is it worth joining IIM Sambalpur as a fresher and with no option of taking the CAT next year? How are the placements expected to grow in 2 years at IIM Sambalpur? My other option is XIMB.

● Top Answer By Piyush on 24 Jan 23

Both the colleges you mentioned are not really suitable for a fresher. The cons of both colleges are: IIM Sambalpur  The placement scenario here is terrible owing to its recent establishment  IIM tag has zero worth mainly because it’s new Substandard roles are offered to freshers like relationship managers in below-average cities. The salary is also very mediocre. Being a baby IIM, IIM Sambalpur is rarely visited by top firms for placements. Freshers majoring in marketing get placed in small startups and not big firms. XIMB The biggest shortcoming of this B School is its extravagant fees which are not at par with the packages it offers The college has no brand name at all Extremely poor roles offered through placements like sales job and relationship manager Since I have blatantly put both the schools out of question, what are you supposed to do now? Either you should give up the idea of an MBA. Or you can work somewhere, gain enough experience and then target a better B School....Read more
