What students say about Shyam Lal College - [SLC]

Likes

  • The best thing about this course is that you can have knowledge of three subjects: physics, computer science, and mathematics.
  • Our college provides good internship opportunities to the students with an average pay for the internships offered by top companies, and a good stipend is given to the students.
  • I have not yet experienced any campus placement from the college side as I am a first-year student.
  • I didnt get any scholarships, but one of my friends did. So, I cant say that they dont give any scholarships. However, yes, they did inform us about scholarships and loans. Therefore, it depends on how well you perform in your studies.
  • Our sports faculty is very good, and we have libraries on all the floors of our buildings. There are two college buildings where students go for their classes. One building has a seminar hall where all seminars are conducted.
  • The college area is always neat and clean. Workers always give their best to the college.
  • The best thing about this course is that you can have knowledge of three subjects: physics, computer science, and mathematics.

Dislike

  • If I talk about the faculty, the teachers were not good; they wouldnt come to take classes.
  • Shyam Lal Degree College provides. My experience with the internship is very bad because the college does not arrange it.
  • Some companies come to my college, but since there are no professional courses offered, internships are not provided. Additionally, the chances of securing a job through campus recruitment are very low due to the limited number of companies that come for placements.
  • I didnt apply for any loan, and I didnt have any idea how long the process is or what the process entails.
  • The campus is doubtfully big and also has a lot of green cover, but the infrastructure is poor.
  • The food and hostel facilities were pathetic. Half of the students were not from Delhi, and it was quite difficult for them to manage food because the food in college was not worth eating.
  • The downside of college is that its canteen facilities are not good, and the Girls Common Room is in bad condition.

Placement Experience:

Campus placement is best for us provide by my college shyam lal many BPOS, and MNC company visits and give placement. There is more than 70% of students get placement in which the highest package is 1200000 and the lowest package is 360000.

Remarks:

In my time admission process is not so much difficult online form submissions and cut-off lists are generated by the Delhi University of each college. Then go to that college where your marks are listed. And the faculty is so awesome.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I am going to pursue in govt services so it'll be an easy option for me. Student ratio among the class is very less in comparison to girls to boys. Qualification of the teachers is pretty high in wrt the college and young teachers are there in good quantity. Exams timing was a bit late for us as we were the batch after the corona but to pass the exam I just have to study a week and a day before practicals.

Remarks:

12th-pass students are eligible for admission to this college. There are many courses mostly in Arts and some in Science. BSc , BA, MA etc Before the corona period there was a reservation and till now after CUET also there are reservation-based seats according to the system.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I had a keen interest in commerce and in future I will pursue CA. The methodology of teaching by faculty are excellent and all of them are too much supportive for their students.

Remarks:

There is no entrance exam at the time when I had applied for admission, there are 12th marks cut off the system in which different cut-offs of different colleges were provided by University and we had to apply for the best alternative after selecting the available cut-off

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Bachelor's of Commerce ie. B.Com the program, the faculty is outstanding, they take regular classes and clear all the doubts of the students. Their teaching techniques are very different and understandable.

Remarks:

The admission process was kinda changed this year through CUET so we can say that it made it easy and difficult for the students at some point in time. First, we have to clear the CUET exam and then we have to fill DU form separately from which the colleges were allotted to the students.

Placement Experience:

If I talking about placements in Shyam lal so there are placements only available for seniors or students who are in 3rd year. In the second last semester of the course, you got an offer of placement.

Remarks:

So if you want to take admitted to Shyam lal college first of all you need to clarify an exam which is a common entrance university test, you need good marks in it for admission. Then you need to register yourself on the official website of Delhi university after this the stuff university verified your marks and application and if you are eligible you got admission.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Unlike an honors course in which you have to focus mainly on one subject, BSc physical science helped you to focus on three main subjects mainly physics, chemistry, and maths. The student ratio is quite normal to average. Teaching is quite good in this college, the thing is you have to study yourself in a way to understand the concepts even more and be strong with the basics. Passing the exam is very easy. One can pass the exam by studying one day before the exam. But the main thing is to gain knowledge.

Remarks:

The entrance exam is mandatory for du admission procedure. Admission for the B.Sc. Physical Science course requires the aspirants to complete their undergraduate degree with a minimum average of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized university or college in any relevant discipline, having physics, chemistry, and biology as their main subjects. In addition, for the age criteria, the aspirants must be at least 17 years to apply for the course. Also, aspirants satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria, which is a combination of scores obtained and entrance exams. Application forms should be available on www.du.ac.in. If you have eca certificates and sports quota certificates, you can get admission through them.

Placement Experience:

More than 60% of students can get desired placements, and others pursue higher studies. In our batch, around 10% of students are doing internships. I am pursuing a Chartered Accountancy course. And I plan to complete CA after the B.Com course.

Remarks:

The admission process was pretty simple. There was a list of cut off based on class 12th marks for every college in Delhi University. I got Shyam Lal College on the 4th Cut-Off List. The application form was hosted on the University of Delhi's website. I did not get the benefit of any Reservation as I am General Category Male. After my batch, the University of Delhi changed its admission process and now it is based on entrance exams along with class 12th marks. It is a great improvement in my opinion

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course will help you to learn three subjects together. 1:25 is the ratio I guess for faculty: student. Faculty are highly skilled and educational also very highly educated. The exam was conducted accordingly and they are not that hard to pass.

Remarks:

It was a very nice experience. The staff was so helpful at that time. For this course, your marks in maths, physics, and chemistry were only considered. In this course, you also get reservation benefits usually around 20%.

Placement Experience:

Last year round about 40 companies visited the job fair organized by the Training and Placement Cell of Shyam Lal College. The highest package was 9LPA and the highest stipend for an internship was 17 thousand per month. Some of the top companies were Deloitte, Byjus, kpm, etc. This year also. The job fair is being organized and Aditya Birla Group also visited the college for campus placement on 10/02/2023. In 6th semester you are eligible for job placement and for the internship, you are eligible from 1st semester only.

Remarks:

The entrance exam was conducted called CUET. It was an easy paper if you studied well in 12th. It was all MCQ based and you need to give an exam for every subject individually. The application fee was 1300 for Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Physical Education, General knowledge, English, and Hindi. You can find the application on the website of DU admission. I am from the unreserved category but there are so many reservations for OBC, EWS, DELHI QUOTA, SC, ST, DEFENCE SERVICES, etc. The admission process was quite smooth with 3 rounds of cut off and 3 spot rounds.

Placement Experience:

Placement depends on many factors on individual level as well as the campus level. On the individual front, it totally depends on the quality and quantity of experience you gradute with (society's exp.and internships). On campus level a very small amount of companies visit the campus. It is mostly NGOs or PR companies which offer very lowball packages like 8k-12k per month. So avoid campus placements. Try to pursue MBA or Ca/Cs in the future.

Remarks:

There was no entrance exam during my admission but now they do conduct entrance exams. The cut-off at my time was 92.75. Now they admit on the basis cuet marks. I did not avail of any reservation. But they do provide reservation benefits.
