Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology (CIT), Tumkur was established in 2001 and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The institute is ISO 9001:2008 Certified and Accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The institute runs under the auspices of Sri Channabasaveshwara Swamy Rural Education Society (CRED Society), established in 2000 under the Chairmanships of Sri G. S. Basavarj, the honourable Member of Parliament from Tumkur. It is located in ideal and congenial environment on the outskirts of Gubbi town, Tumkur city on Bangalore - Honnavar National Highway 206, 90 km from Bangalore, spread over lush green, landscaped campus.

  • EMC2 Academic Alliance Program - CIT in collaboration with EMC2 Corporation offers “Storage Technologist Certification” for students.
  • Infosys Campus-Connect Program - The Campus Connect initiative aims to enhance the educational level of engineering students, nationwide and thus increase the employability of these engineers.
  • Wipro’s Mission 10X Program - The Mission10X program of Wipro Technologies is aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the engineering teachers in technical Institutions.

Facilities

Auditorium

A well furnished auditorium which can accommodate more than 500 students is centrally located on the campus.

Classrooms

Each classroom is well lit and can accommodate more than 80 students. Many of the classrooms are equipped with ceiling mounted LCD projector.

Computer Lab

The college has several computer laboratories with over 750 network enabled computers.

Library

The college library has 38869 books and 6887 no.of tiles. It has 76 international and 123 national journals. It also has 40 computer system and a reference section with a seating capacity of 174 persons.

Hostel

CIT runs separate hostels for boys & girls. The boys-hostel is located on-campus while the girls-hostel is located off-campus.

Sports

Students are encouraged to participate in inter-collegiate sports programmes. The CIT cricket ground is approved by Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and is routinely used to host league matches.

  • The college team under the guidance of Prof. C P Shantala bagged second prize in MANTHAN 2009, a paper presentation competition organized by Department of IT/BT Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry

  • 6th semester students of CIT participated in the 8th ISTE State Level Student Symposium and won first place for their paper on “IT Enabled Agriculture”

  • 3rd semester students of CIT participated in the 8th ISTE State Level Student Symposium and won first place for their paper on “Review of Road Safety”

  • Mr. Pravesh kumar Yadav of 4th semester was selected for Regional Level of National Design Competition organized by CADD Center, held on 8th March 2014 at Bengaluru

  • CIT students won first and second prizes at “Challenge Chatni” Competition organized by National Council for Science technology Communication (NCSTC) at HMSIT, Tumkur during Feb 2010
