Which college is best for an MBA, NMIMS or Symbiosis?

AD
Aditi Debnath Posted On : May 4th, 2022
BBA Bachelor of Business Administration Degrees, SVKM's NMIMS (2020)

NMIMS is the best option among these. The strategic location, excellent placement, and brand value put NMIMS ahead of the other institute mentioned in the question.

NMIMS is located at the financial hub of Mumbai. The campus is just an hour or an hour and a half drive away from commercial and industrial spaces like Bandra Kurla Complex, Navi Mumbai, South Bombay, etc. Due to the locational advantage, students can easily attend industrial visits of reputed organizations like TOI, Pepsico, JPMC, etc.

NMIMS Mumbai placements are way ahead of the B-Schools in the same tier. Even with a batch size of 500+, the institute offers an average CTC of INR 23.07 LPA.

What is the minimum CAT percentile required for getting into SIBM AND SPJIMR?

S
Sagardeep Posted On : March 13th, 2023
Chief Mentor @ IMS

If you're planning to apply to SIBM, you should take the SNAP as they don't accept the CAT. It's important to score around 100 marks on the test to have a chance of being called for the interview. Similarly, if you're interested in SPJIMR, you need to score at least a 95%ile in CAT to have a chance of being selected for the interview round. However, students with excellent profiles and extra-curricular activities can get selected with as low as 85%ile.

It's crucial to do your groundwork before attempting any exams, including the CAT. Here are some of the suggested steps:

  • Prepare a list of B-Schools that are relevant to your profile, interests, the companies you want to work for, the roles you want to perform after an MBA, and your expected salaries.
  • Research the shortlisting and selection criteria for each of these B-Schools to understand your chances of making it there. Then, arrive at a shortlist of B-Schools that are best suited to your profile.
  • Understand which tests to take for each of these B-Schools and what score you need to secure your GD-PI call.
  • Prepare for the test with the aim of achieving your target score as arrived at above.

You can do the above exercise yourself or meet up with a counselor who can help you. However, it's essential to do this exercise because your career is at stake.
