Which is better, NIT Kurukshetra IT or NIT Jamshedpur CS?

My brother is from NIT Kurukshetra. So I am quite aware of the situation here. Let’s look at the various aspects.

• First and foremost, the syllabus for both CS and IT are nearly identical. The only difference is that IT focuses on software and programming, whereas CS includes some hardware courses. So, in the end, both branches are almost the same.

• Second, in the end, all you have to do in the industry is software-related work, whether it's main programming, maintenance, or database management. So companies generally evaluate your coding ability, implying that it doesn't matter if you're from CS, IT, or any other field.
• Placements: NIT Kurukshetra has an excellent placement record, with 100% placement in CS and IT. Furthermore, both CS and IT students are treated equally. Almost no company seeks only ‘CS' students. They are also given attractive salary packages.

• Transport facilities: It is located on the outskirts of town, so access to the railway station or the bus stand is not a problem. Kurukshetra is a small town, you may not get to see much of the city life. However, it is very close to Chandigarh.

• College life: College life is fantastic, but it is nearly the same everywhere. It is entirely up to you how you shape it. However, you will have numerous opportunities to demonstrate your talent in sports or other extracurricular activities. There are numerous cultural and technical societies. The institute also organizes 6–7 fests throughout the year, so you won't have time to relax or do anything else.

• Hostel facilities: There are three girls' hostels (one newly built with modern facilities, though I doubt you'll get it in the first year). Girls' safety is also ensured. So don't be concerned about your safety. But mess food is not very good.

Finally, I recommend that you visit NIT Kurukshetra. You'll have a great time. The rest is entirely up to you.
