The financially weak students belonging to minorities can avail themselves of the facilities of scholarships and financial assistance once they satisfy the minimum eligibility requirements for scholarships. However, the scholarships offered by NIT Jamshedpur are broadly divided into many categories and some of them are mentioned below. 

Scholarship & Financial Aid by Welfare Department, Govt. of Jharkhand:

  • The Scholarship is only offered to the students of Jharkhand state belonging from SC/ST/OBC categories.
  • Also, the student's annual family income from all the sources should not exceed INR 2,00,000 for SC/ST students and INR 1,00,000 for OBC students. 
  • Students are exempted from the payment of tuition fees and maintenance charges as the scholarship award.

Foundation for Academic excellence and access:

  • FAEA grants are offered to undergraduate students pursuing any of the technical or other professional degree programs at NIT Jamshedpur.
  • In order to become eligible for FAEA grants, a student should belong to the BPL category and must have passed his/her 10+2 examinations from any recognized board of education. 
  • As the Scholarship awards, students are exempted from the payment of tuition fees, maintenance allowance, hostel, and mess charges.

National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation:

  • The National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation Scholarship is only awarded to eligible students with disabilities pursuing professional/technical degree courses at NIT Jamshedpur.
  • Students pursuing graduate programs at NIT Jamshedpur are awarded the following scholarship benefits:
    • INR 1000 p.m. for Hostelers 
    • INR 700 p.m. for Day Scholars
  • Also, the course fee is reimbursed up to INR 10,000 per year for the selected candidates. 

NTPC scholarship for engineering students:

  • 35 scholarships are offered to the students of SC/ST/PC categories under the NTPC Scholarship for Engineering Students. 
  • A student seeking to avail the facility of NTPC Scholarship should be a student of 4 years full-time degree engineering course in the disciplines of Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics / Telecommunication Engineering. 
  • Students are awarded a sum of INR 1500 per month as a scholarship award.

Scholarship of ONGC limited, Dehradun:

  • The ONGC Scholarship is offered to the meritorious students of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering after the 6th semester.
  • In order to be eligible for this Scholarship, a candidate should have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in 10+2 and his/her annual family income should not exceed INR 1.5 lakhs.
  • The 1st and 2nd-year students receive financial support of INR 12,000 while the 3rd and 4th-year students receive INR 18,000 under ONGC Scholarship.
