An Insightful Review of My College Experience: Academics Campus Life, Placements, and Beyond

Remarks :

As someone who got admitted to chemical engineering at ICT, Mumbai through JEE, the admission process was challenging but fair. The eligibility and application process was detailed on the website, staff was supportive during admission formalities.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose chemical engineering due to its diverse syllabus. The faculty-student ratio is around 1:17. Faculty has mostly PhDs from reputed institutes. Some are great at teaching, while others are boring. Exams are timely, with internal tests, mid-semester, and end-semester. With proper preparation, passing wasn't difficult despite the rigorous curriculum.

Internships Opportunities :

Internships are mandatory for undergraduate students after the sixth semester. Many companies like Reliance, Croda, Tessol, Aarti Industries, Honeywell Automation, etc., offer internships with stipends ranging from 7000 rupees to 40000 rupees per month. The duration of the internship usually ranges from two to three months.

Placement Experience :

I haven't personally experienced the placement scenario yet, but from what I've heard from my seniors, companies start coming to the campus in the 7th semester. Companies such as Deloitte, Aarti Industries, Reliance, Gharda Chemicals, IOC, Aditya Birla, etc. visit the campus. The highest package offered is around 17 lakhs, and the average is 10 lakhs per annum. For chemical engineering, the placement rate is 100%. I plan to take a job offer from here after completing my degree.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

As a current student at ICT, Mumbai, the fee structure is affordable for a government college, with my fees being around 80,000 rupees per year as a general category student. I am currently availing the Maha government scholarship and the merit-cum-means scholarship, but I am not aware of any on-campus jobs with stipends. There are several scholarship opportunities available, including state and central government scholarships and private scholarships like the Asian Paints scholarship. The fee hike policy is nominal, and overall, the cost to study is reasonable.

Campus Life :

Life at the campus is lively with a good social life and many clubs to join. The infrastructure is good with well-equipped classrooms and a great library with many books and journals. We have an annual chem fest called Vortex and an annual cultural fest called Manzar conducted in February and March respectively. The campus has many sports facilities, and there are many extracurricular activities to take part in, including sports, music, arts, and literary clubs, all run by students.

Hostel Facilities :

I live in the college hostel, and the facilities provided are quite good. The rooms are spacious, and each student gets a separate bed, study table, and a cupboard. The meal quality is decent, and the mess serves a variety of dishes. The registration for the hostel was straightforward, and the fees are quite affordable compared to living in rented accommodation outside. The hostel also provides facilities like washing machines and 24-hour security. Overall, living in the college hostel has been a comfortable and convenient experience for me.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The professor is highly knowledgeable they are very supportive if we find any difficulty from any problem then they help a lot with it. Exams are in every month and final semester exams are there If we study hard then exams are not tough. Negative point is that sometimes faculty say anything bad so it gets irritated.

Placement Experience:

There are so many placements in college, Even if you missed a college placement you can still secure the same job, just their process is a little bit more complicated, but don't worry you can take the same opportunity. While campus placement involves companies reaching out to you.

Placement Experience:

Campus placements start in the pre-final semester and are completed before the beginning of the final semester. Everyone is placed somewhere or the other, might or might not receive their dream offer or company, but generally, everyone is able to convert a decent firm's decent offer. BCG, Google, Microsoft, Bain, Mckinsey, Cohesity, Blackrock, Kearney, and Strategy& are a few of the companies that visit regularly. Highest package runs in crores (?4cr/year) for international locations - Hongkong or the US. The highest within India is also close to ?2.5cr, the average package is ~?25LPA. Greater than 95% of students get decent placements. I'll be exploring jobs after the degree, and might go for higher education as well sometime after experiencing a few years.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The best thing about this college is its teachers. they are helpful in academics. I choose computer engineering because it's going to run for a long time and also have an interest in languages so I prefer it. the student ratio would be around 60/40 boys /girls. there are smartboards present for teaching and also many labs where students can go and sit there is no restriction which is one of the good points. for exams, there are mid and end sem per year and in between them there are in total of 4 unit tests conducted.
