Punjab University MA Economics Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria for MA Economics Course is as follows:
- Candidates must have completed a BA Honors Degree in Economics.
- Candidates can also complete BA Economics with an Elective Subject with a minimum of 50% marks in it.
- Candidates having an equivalent Degree to any of the previous degrees can also apply.
Note: Candidates having compartment at the time of first counseling are not eligible for admission in the course even though they clears the compartment by the time of subsequent round of counseling.

Punjab University MA Economics Admission Criteria
Admissions are done on the basis of merit and PU-CET Entrance Examination for which the weightage is as follows:

Entrance Exam
Admission to MA Economics Course will be purely done on the basis of Entrance Examination of PU-CET.
- Duration of the Entrance Exam is 90 minutes consisting of 75 questions.
- Each Question holds 1 mark. 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer whereas 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer.
- Questions will be asked from the syllabus only.
- Candidates must have secured 35% marks (30% Marks for SC/ST/BC/PWD Candidates) in the Entrance Test.

Punjab University MA Economics Course Details
The two-year Post-Graduate MA Economics Program at Punjab University provides education regarding the Economy of countries. The course combines the coursework of Indian as well as International economy on a high level.
- Duration of the MA Economics Course at Punjab University is 2 Years. Each Year includes 2 semesters i.e., the summer semester and the winter semester.
- MA Program involves 16 courses in it which involves 12 core courses and 4 elective courses.
- Each Semester carries 400 marks containing 100 marks for each core course. Those 100 marks involve 80 marks for end semester examination and 20 marks for internal assessment.
- End Semester Examination is to be held in December for odd semesters and May for even semesters.
- Each Course includes 50 teaching hours.
- In the first year, 8 core courses are to be studied, of which each semester includes 4 core courses.
- During Second year, they have 4 core courses of which each semester includes 2 core courses.
- Along with core courses in 2nd year, they have to choose 2 electives from a choice of 7 electives per semester.
