Panjab University Ranking 2023 in India and World : NIRF, Outlook, Times

Panjab University, one of the oldest universities in India has been ranked among the top Universities in country by all the ranking agencies. It affiliates 194 colleges and 6 constituent colleges are spread over four districts of the state Punjab.

NIRF, in its recent rankings of 2022 has ranked the institute at 29th position in Research Category among top 50 universities in India. While it has successfully came ahead of its competitors like BITS Pilani, Alagappa University etc. Still, it has a long way to go up to reach at top place where IISc, Bangalore is placed.

Another National Ranking agency, Outlook India has ranked the University at 30th place out of 100 Universitites. After fairing well in National Rankings, Punjab University has been ranked in slot of #601-800 by Times Higher Education Ranking and in rank range of #801-100 by QS World University Rankings.

The parameters that Times higher Education considers for preparing the rank lists are: Teaching, Industry Income, Citations, Research and International Outlook. Citation seemed to be the strongest point for Panjab University as it has scored a solid 50+ in this domain. Research is one region where Panjab University can work a lot on improving itself. Its performance in this criterion was below satisfactory as it managed to score less than 20 points. Its performance in the remaining domains of Research, Citations and Teaching were quite ordinary as its scores in these domains were in the range of 20 to 50.

Good and worthy college to get into based on JEE rank if you want a descent placement and college life.

Internships Opportunities:

Every even student, student has to do internships whether in college or outside companies. College provides internships in DIC ( Design and Innovation Center) and various other research projects along with mentors.

Placement Experience:

At UIET, Panjab University the placements are quite good for CSE and IT branches. Top package offering companies are samsung, Amazon, AMEX. Other MNC's like Deloitte, Infosys, KPMG etc. Come for on-campus offerings but with an average package of 4-5 lakhs. Lots of high package offering startups also offer jobs.

What it is like to do engineering in CCET?

Placement Experience:

The placements are maximum for the CSE and ECE students. Around 50-60 companies visit the campus for placements. The placement process starts in the 7th Semester. I am a CSE student so I will share my experience accordingly. The companies first organize an Aptitude test followed by Technical rounds followed by personal interviews. For CSE, the placement percentage is 80-90% with an average pack of 6 LPA. It is comparatively easy for computer engineers to land a job in CCET with an average package.

Mainly from 5 semesters , companies start coming with their job offers or sometimes in 4th semester. The average package is 1.5L and maximum is 18L from D.E Shaw. But from many years this company took no student. Percentage doesn't matter for placement. What matters is your communication skills.

Decent placements with a great environment to study and socialize.

Internships Opportunities:

companies like chemic, bebo, Adverb, josh technologies, infosys and TCS hire from our campus. projects are given to us and one major project we have to submit at the end semester. Internship opportunities are provided to students in 8 semesters in companies and in the companies, they are evaluated on the basis of their skills after successful completion of the internships students get offer letters from the companies they completed their internships in.

Placement Experience:

From the 7th semester, students become eligible for placements on campus. And go for internships and Training. Not big tech companies visit our campus only small startups and mass hiring companies like TCS, Infosys etc type of companies hire students. Small startups like josh technologies, bebo, chemic etc come to campus for hiring candidates. The highest package is around 30 lacs but that is off-campus campus highest package is 10 lac and the lowest package is 2.5 lac. in cs and generally 100 % of students get placed but in ECE and MECH placements are very low. Plan to go abroad.
