Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was established in 1920 to serve the purpose of quality education in different departments. Currently, it is offering UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate and Doctorate level programs in 13 faculties.

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) offers admission to candidates from foreign countries. Seats are also reserved for the students of SAARC and Commonwealth Countries. The students can also opt for admission in AMU-Based Colleges, Schools and centres. The admission form can be filled by visiting the official page of AMU, Controller Exam. AMU Admission is done in two ways: Departmental Admission Test (conducted at Aligarh) and Entrance Exam (conducted at designated centres).
Admission to B.Sc (H)/ BA (H)/ B.Com (H) and BSW is offered on the basis of candidates’ score in the Admission Test (All India Level) conducted by AMU. Controller Exam.
B.Sc (H) (Agricultural Science)/ BA (H) (Shia/ Sunni/ Foreign Languages)/ BRIT/ B.P.Ed and B.Li.Sc admissions are granted through the admission test conducted by the concerned department of AMU.
BA-LL.B/ B.Ed and MBA entrance exams are conducted at Aligarh, Kozhikode and Kolkata only.
B.Tech/ B.Arch Admissions are done on the basis of AMUEEE which is conducted at different locations while BE (Evening) admissions are done through Written Tests.
A valid score in NEET is mandatory to secure admission in MBBS/ BDS and BUMS.
MCA/ M.Sc/ MA/ M.Ed/ MFA/ M.Li.Sc/ M.P.Ed/ MIRM/ MFA and MHRM admission tests are conducted by the concerned departments of AMU only.
GATE qualified candidates can apply for M.Tech program. In the case of remaining seats, AMU conducts its own Departmental Admission Test.
MD/MS and MDS admission are based on a valid score in NEET PG and NEET MDS respectively.
AMU conducts a Written Test followed by an Interview to offer admission in Ph.D. program.

AMU Admission to MBBS, BDS and BUMS (Kamil-e-Tib-o-Jarahat) is based on candidates’ performance in NEET followed by counselling. Pre-Tib (BUMS) admission is offered through Department-based Admission Test conducted by AMU. The minimum eligibility criteria is 10+2 (PCB) with 50% marks in aggregate.

Key Points:

Two seats in each program in Agriculture are reserved for the candidates belonging to Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) quota.
The departmental Entrance test will consist total 100 MCQs of 100 marks for the duration of two hours.
For MA (Arabic/ Persian), the candidates must have studied Arabic/ Persian at B.A. (Hons.) or its equivalent level.
For M.Sc in Wildlife Sciences/ Biodiversity Studies, AMU will conduct a Combined Entrance Test of 100 marks with 70% weightage to MCQs and 30% for Short Answer Type Questions.

AMU M.Tech, MBA, MCA & M.Arch Admission 2020

AMU offers full-time M.Tech, MBA and MCA courses for the duration of two and three years respectively. BE/ B.Tech in the related discipline is required for M.Tech while a Bachelor’s degree is sufficient for MBA and MCA programs. Students must note that Mathematics is a mandatory subject at UG level to secure admission in MCA.

MBA (IB) admission test is conducted at Kolkata, Aligarh and Kozhikode while MBA (Agribusiness Management) admission is conducted at Aligarh only. Final admission is based GD and Interview.

GATE qualified candidates are eligible for M.Tech admission. For some of the vacant seats, AMU conducts a separate admission test at Aligarh.

How to Apply for AMU MD/ MS/ M.Ch & MDS Courses: The application form can be filled by following the given steps:

Fill the application form online by visiting the official website of AMU.
Pay the processing fee (INR 500) through Net-Banking or by Credit/ Debit Card.
Take the printout of duly-filled form and sign on the space provided or put your thumb impression, followed by appending the photograph.
Send the form in an A4 size envelope to the Admission Controller, AMU by speed post/ registered post/ courier or in person.

Aligarh Muslim University follows a common application Process for all the courses offered at UG and PG level. The AMU Notice about information related to admissions is being updated on the official website of the University from time to time. Application form can be filled online by following the below-listed steps:

Register as a new user by providing details of Name, Address & course of choice.
Log in using the username and password generated at the time of registration.
Fill the form with respect to personal and academic details. Upload photograph and signature.

AMU Ph.D. Admission 2020

AMU also offers Ph.D. in various disciplines at Doctorate level. Ph.D. admissions are generally conducted in the month of August every year. Admission is granted on the basis of Written Test (80 marks) followed by Presentation/ Interview (30 marks).

The duly-filled application form is required to be submitted to the Office of Controller of Examination, AMU on or before the last date of application.

NET/ JRF/ GATE/ CSIR/ DBT/ ICAR qualified candidates will be exempted from the Entrance Test but they need to appear in The Presentation cum Interview round.

The good vibes that i heard about AMU as they don't discriminate among their students and the meek behaviour & coordination between the teachers & the students. Thats why i thought that i should also learn a lot of things from this university so that i enhance my ethics & skills that would helped me in future. these all factors drove me to take admission in this university. Ans. My friend studied at IIEST Shibpur but it was a long time ago. The quality of pedagogy back then was good, however now one can't say much of it. Also personally, CS does not have the best faculty in AMU. If you wish to compare the state of teaching in the institutions, just log in to the official website and go through the qualifications of the faculty members. Check both the academic achievements of the faculty in general, as well as that of the departments. If you live near Shibpur then it'll be easier to commute, however, if you live far away then you can choose AMU. You must note that IIEST Shibpur's IT department might have to shut down and you may regret your decision during placements.Read more

Ans. A few years back, a friend of mine was in a position to choose between lower-ranked NITs and AMU. He chose the latter and based on his experience, he swears by that decision. He later went on to do this postgraduate from NIT Warangal. Here is his take on AMU and NITs. ZHCET or AMU is far better than 20 out of 33 NIT’s in India in every domain ranging from placements, internships to faculty, academics, etc. but is behind the top 11 NIT’s of India. Comparing AMU with NITs is quite a large scale. If we compare AMU with one of the top NITs, i.e, NIT Warangal, the infrastructure, library, academics, faculty all are the same but when it comes to placements, NIT Warangal has way better placements. However, not all NITs have a better placement record than AMU. The bottom-most NIT’s according to placements and academics are as follows. NIT Sikkim < NIT Mizoram < NIT Manipur < NIT Arunachal Pradesh < NIT Nagaland < NIT Meghalaya < NIT Andhra Pradesh < NIT Puducherry < NIT Uttarakhand < NIT Goa < NIT Delhi Where NIT Meghalaya and NIT Andhra Pradesh(NIT Tadepalligudem) lack in campus also.Read more

Ans. AMU BA LLB is not up to the mark in comparison to other law colleges in India. Instead of going for AMU, you can look up other well-known colleges like NLUs or any other private law colleges. If the option of other colleges doesn’t work you can choose to study in places like- Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kolkata (preferably in this order). After completing the studies, join law firms and visit the college only to give exams. Similar to correspondence education. Check the rankings of the opted colleges on law websites, not the rankings like India today, etc., and then choose your respective college.Read more

Here are the reasons why. AMU: Culture: It has a distinctive culture, unlike any other college. Ans. There are a few law colleges that have been tagged as the “traditional law universities” due to their long history & renowned law faculties. The colleges which fall under this category are- AMU, Jamia, BHU, and GLC Mumbai & DU. although, the reputation of NLUs and their performance can never be surpassed by the above-mentioned law colleges. These universities are well-known & have great faculty that comprises jurists, lawyers, & academicians but their growth rate is slow. They have been able to walk parallel with the changing scenarios in the field of law, including a major deviation from the corporate law field. You need to make the decision about college by keeping in mind what you want to do in the future. In that, the discussion below can be helpful. Aligarh Muslim University: Recently, AMU is in the limelight due to the high selection rate of its students in the judicial services examination. Also, AMU produces academically high qualified students. The number of people from AMU who have traveled abroad for an LLM degree is less, but nevertheless, it’s an achievement that can't be ignored. There is no placement cell at AMU faculty, which limits the internship opportunities. Since AMU is close to Delhi it makes it convenient for the students to seek internships outside the campus. Hi Mainaj, candidates applying for this course must have scored at least 50% in B.Ed. Moreover, admission to this course is done on the basis of marks obtained in entrance exam conducted by the university.

Hi Murshida, admission to this course is done on the basis of marks scored in departmental admission test conducted by the university. Moreover, candidate must have scored at least 55% in graduation to be eligible for this course. Scholarships are provided only to those students who belong to economically weaker section or have extraordinary performance in previous academic records.
