Which should I choose, CUSAT-SOE for mechanical engineering or NIT Jamshedpur for mechanical engineering?

You should choose NIT Jamshedpur for Mechanical Engineering. It has an impeccable Mechanical faculty. The professors have years of experience in the field. The placements are more competitive at NITs. NIT Jamshedpur placement highlights for 2021 show around 96% of Mechanical students got placed with an average CTC of INR 7.3 LPA. Vedanta Ltd, Tata Steel, Royal Enfield, etc. are some of the major recruiters for the branch.

A few of my friends graduated from CUSAT – SOE and NIT Jamshedpur, so I think I can give you some idea about the institute, based on what I heard from them.

NIT Jamshedpur:

NIT is a global brand when it comes to pursuing higher studies, like in an IIM or an IISc.
The placement record is better in the NITs.
Tata Steel, Tata Motors, L&T, Jindal Steel are the top recruiters of the college.
You will also get a chance to study in an institute that has a legacy of at least half a century.
The faculty team is impeccable.

CUSAT – SOE:

CUSAT-SOE also has good professors.
The facilities for labs are good.
The institute has got 40+ years of history and network.
The placement for core Mechanical companies is not that great in CUSAT.
MRF, IBM, Infosys, TCS, and Cisco are the top recruiters.
If you have stayed in North India since birth it will take time to adjust food and culture-wise in CUSAT.
