VNIT College Review

Remarks :

For doing Btech/BArch in VNIT or any other NIT, a student has to clear JEE Mains with a good percentile/rank. Then you will be gone through JOSSA/CSAB counselling process. After successfully completing this process you will get admission into any NIT. For getting admission into VNIT, a student(General Category Boys) need atleast 96 to 96.5 this percentile in JEE Mains. For CSE, the criteria are even higher. A candidate requires a minimum 99.4 percentile in JEE mains. Fees Structure- (1)For SC/ST/VJ/NT - 4,350 Rs per semester. (2)For Gen/EWS/OBC- 66,850 per semester Fee Remission Scheme- (1)This scheme is only for Gen/EWS/OBC Category Students. (2)It is applicable for students whose family annual income is less than 5 lakh. (3)For the students having a family annual income of less than 1 lakh, all the tuition fee is returned back to them.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this branch because it is a higher branch. A large number of companies are coming for internships & placements for this branch compared to other lower branches (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, etc.). Institute has excellent faculty staff. Almost all have a degree of PhD/Mtech in a particular field. Most of the professors are using projectors & ppt presentations for teaching. Each branch has almost 110-120 students except the Mining Engineering branch which has only 35-40 students. Up to Last semester, the exam pattern was 2 sessionals & 1 end sem exam. But from now onwards, it will be 1 midterm exam & 1 end sem exam.

Internships Opportunities :

Pre-Final year students (3rd-year Btech) are eligible for seating in the internship cycle. Many companies are coming for internships in the IT sector. But there are fewer companies for internships in the core sector. Companies like Google, Amazon, ITC, Texas, D.E.Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, Hilti, BNY Mellon, CITI India, Accenture, Truminds, etc are coming for offering two-month summer internship which is most likely takes place after completing 6th semester & before the start of 7th semester. If you perform well in this internship, you may get PPO from that particular company.

Placement Experience :

Students are eligible for placement in the 7th semester if they are not having any backlog in any subject in their previous semesters. Companies like Google, Oracle, D.E.Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, BNY Mellon, Hilti, Accenture, etc are coming for placements. The average package is about 11.5 LPA. The CSE branch has a record of 100% placement. The highest packages are offered by companies like Oracle, D.E.Shaw, and Gameskraft which are more than 30 LPA. The placement percentage of the institute is about 80-84%.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees Structure- (1)For SC/ST/VJ/NT - 4,350 Rs per semester. (2)For Gen/EWS/OBC students - 66,850 Rs per year (3) At the time of admission they will take 15,500 Rs as a 'one-time fee'. There are many scholarship programmes for lower-category students. For Gen/EWS/OBC students, Fee Remission & MahaDBT scholarship are there. In my opinion, the Fee remission scheme has many advantages over than MahaDBT scheme as mentioned earlier.

Campus Life :

There are many fests celebrated in VNIT.'Aarohi' is the annual fest of VNIT which is held in the month of November mostly. This fest includes Expert Talks, Music Show as well as DJ Night & many other programs. 'Axis' is a techfest of VNIT which includes many technical events. The Institute has a well-developed library which almost has all kinds of reference books in sufficient quantity for college students. It has 24 hr open reading room. The institute has a splendid Sports complex for indoor games & sports grounds for outdoor games like football, cricket, basketball etc. There are many clubs in VNIT like Mag.com, Prayaas, Velocity, Hallabol, Samvad, Iridescence, etc. By joining these clubs a student can improve his/her communication as well as interaction skill.

Hostel Facilities :

The institute hostel is well furnished. Also, the rooms are good up to some extent. The room has facilities like a table, bed, cupboard, lights & a balcony. Also, we get Internet facilities via LAN connection. Also, the hostel has TV sets on some floors. The mess meal is okay up to some extent. Not so good but eatable. The breakfast & snacks are better. For hostel registration, a student has to fill in the fees via the institute website. After that he/she has to fill out a google form containing all the details. Then only he/she will allocate a room in the hostel.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The professor is highly knowledgeable they are very supportive if we find any difficulty from any problem then they help a lot with it. Exams are in every month and final semester exams are there If we study hard then exams are not tough. Negative point is that sometimes faculty say anything bad so it gets irritated.

From the 7th semester onwards students are eligible for placements. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, and the core companies for every branch would come for placements every year. The highest package for the CS branch this year was 66 LPA CTC, and the average was 22 LPA. Approx. 97% percent of students got placed in a good company. I also want to get a high-paying job after my degree.

There are so many placements in college, Even if you missed a college placement you can still secure the same job, just their process is a little bit more complicated, but don't worry you can take the same opportunity. While campus placement involves companies reaching out to you.

There are good opportunities for placements after B.Tech in Surface Coating Technology. Most of the top paint companies' recruits graduate from here. The regular recruiters are Berger Paints, Kansai Nerolac Paints, Asian Paints, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, BASF, PPG Asian, Axalta coatings, FIAT, Godrej & Boyce and many more. In our batch, all of the students got placed in good companies and got the lowest package of 4 LPA and the Highest package of 8 Lakhs. Most of the students go into research & development for automotive paints or decorative paints. Some of the students join the paint manufacturing, technical services & sales for paints.
