A fresher’s life in College

Remarks :

Jesus and Mary College is affiliated with Delhi University (DU), a central university in Delhi. And, from 2022 admissions to DU are based on an enterence exam rather than 12th board marks. This exam is called Central University Entrance Test (CUET). CUET contains the 12th CBSE syllabus of the respective subjects as domains you opted for in class 12. The 2 important websites are cuet.Samarth.ac.in admission.uod.ac.in You can get all admissions and entrance-related information on these 2 websites. As CUET was newly implemented, so there were many glitches. Hope they will improve over time.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I choose Maths H because I was interested in Maths. And in future can switch to many related fields like economics, finance, physics, computer science etc. The faculty-student ratio is 20:150 I really loved the teachers of JMC. They really made the concepts clear. Most of them are PHDs from IIT, Jamia Milia Islamia. And, completed their bachelor's and Masters at Delhi University. I have my first semester exams in march. But DU has easy exams than other universities. Due to the new policy, the internal: and external exam ratio is 45:55.

Internships Opportunities :

The highest stipend for internships in 2021-22 was around 30k and average up to 12k. I personally don't have any experience with internships, will definitely take them up after the first semester exams. I am rating below the experience of my seniors.

Placement Experience :

The students get eligible for placements from the 6th semester. The major recruiters are Deloitte, HDFC bank, IDFC Bank, BCG, Paytm, KPMG, EY and many more. (25+ companies) The highest package for 2021-2022 was 15.5 LPA and the average package is 6.7 LPA. For more info, you can visit the Central Placement Cell of JMC on LinkedIn. Every 4 out of 6 students got placed. I might do a master's in Maths or MBA after my 4-year degree. Well, just exploring now.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees hike and cost of the study are very affordable as Delhi University is the Government Central University. And the honours courses at DU are good in terms of academics. There are many scholarships based on the merit and talent of students. They can apply for them at the beginning of the academic year. Students can avail of financial assistance offered by the student aid fund. For more information, you can visit www.du.ac.in admission

Campus Life :

The annual fest of JMC is Montage. It will be conducted in the month of April. There is a wide range of books and journals in our library like commerce, economics, English, Hindi, psychology, sociology, political science, computer science etc. There is a three-storey library in JMC. There are windows in every classroom. There are spacious classrooms with sitting capacity of 60 students, podiums and projector in classes with whiteboards. There is a wide range of sports played like table tennis, basketball, football, cricket etc with allotted grounds. For ECA, there are up to 22 cultural societies for the students to join. Every society at DU is run by students. The competitions and fests are also organised by students which give students a wonderful exposure.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have PCM in class 12 and I am interested in computer science so this course provides me with a good opportunity in this course we have to teach physics, maths and Computer science. There are lots of opportunities in this course we have to do Mtech in cs and MSC in physics, and maths. The faculty are very helpful and well-qualified Students ratio are 7:3. Faculty are Ph.D. holders and have a long experience in teaching. The first seminar exams are held between January and February exam are at moderated level. If you study hard then it's easy to pass.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course name is BSc. Applied Physical Sciences with Industrial Chemistry. I chose this course because I want to pursue a career in the industrial chemistry field since this a very unique course with amazing career opportunities and very few colleges provide this course all over the country. My course curriculum is very vivid concentrating more on the practical applications of the course including experiments that complement each and every aspect of the theoretical part of the course. The faculty to student ratio is properly equipped with enough staff to cater and help each and every student in the college and hence no student is left unreached. The qualification of the faculty is very high level as the selection process is very good. Most of our professors and teachers are well-known in their respective fields all over the country. The examination system is highly calculated. Exams are held twice in a semester and every student is prepared well for them.

Students from all semesters are eligible for campus placements. They should just have the required skills. Internships from various companies are provided like Tealfeed, Hireyy, TalentServe, ClassReady and many more. The average package offered is 60000-70000 per month. Nearly 60-70% of students get placements I am planning to go for Data Analysis after getting the degree.
