J.M.C - Just a Merry College

NS
8.6 /10

Remarks :

The admission process was flexible and I didn't apply for any entrance exam. I just got admission based on 12th grade. I got admission in the first cut-off list which closed at a 95%. For the dates and links, I followed the official page of DU on Instagram and kept a constant check on the websites too.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I always wanted to study economics and along with mathematics, it is a killer combination. We have fairly a good number of professors in the economics and mathematics department and mostly all are PhDs. Since my 12th went into the pandemic it was difficult to get back to writing physical exams that weren't OBEs but everyone managed in the end.

Internships Opportunities :

Amazing internships are offered by the college. Companies like PepperContent, and Zomato hire at a good 10k worth of stipend. The placement cell actively works to get the best for students. Even part-time jobs are available for the 2nd year.

Placement Experience :

People become eligible for placements from the 5th semester. All the big 4s and big 3s visit our campus and hire good numbers. Details can be taken from the college website. The best part is that it is not only the commerce or economics department that are placed but even students from other departments who wish to pursue a creative non-academic career have opportunities.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees are considered a decent amount. Our college offers many scholarships and assistance which one can read about through their website. Internships and job opportunities are good and well paying.

Campus Life :

The annual fest's name is Montage which happens during the spring season and has always been a huge success. The library is splendid and houses every possible book. It is an entire building! Societies are well organized and everything works beautifully.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I was from PCM (science) background in 12th board and I literally wanted to shift in the course of the art. And science students always look for what best subject in art which is ECONOMICS and we choose this. And the second reason is Economics is something challenging and It provides you to think bigger and know about the money and market. So these are the reason I selected this course. My class has 40 students and except for the Micro teacher, No one teaches very well. We are the first batch of CUET and we just got approx. 3 months to prepare for the semester with an increase in the subject. So that is always hard when you are getting experimented with new things.

Placement Experience:

Students from 2nd year or 5th semester are eligible for pre-placement offers. However, 1st-year students are eligible for internship opportunities only. Around 40 companies visited campus with their placement offers for Bcom. Hons, Bcom, B.A Hons Economics, & some BSc courses. Companies included some Big4 companies like KPMG, Deloitte, E&Y, Wipro, HCL & many more. My plan after getting the degree is to go for MBA or MA in Economics.

Students become eligible from the 6th sem to sit for placements. Companies offering 6 lac to 37 lac visit the campus every year. I was placed in a multinational company with a very good package. People from stats maths and eco courses have higher chances of placement though.

Placement Experience:

From the first year onwards we are eligible for internship opportunities by internship cell. During our 6th sem, we are eligible for job interviews. The placement cell is working hard to review their work in a well-mannered form but still, they lag in bringing big companies to college for on-campus placement drives. Companies like byjus, Genpact, etc. came for placements and they offer full-time jobs for 4-6 lacs package varying from the post they offer. The highest package could go up to 7-8 lacs and on average it's 2 lacs. They offered a various range of profiles to get into. The percentage should be more than 65% at least to get the final placement done smoothly. Plans for graduation are going for higher students in this subject only who want to have a PhD degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

All faculty members were helpful throughout the course and encouraged me to excel in other domains as well. But some teachers just didn't care about the students and were attending classes just for the sake of it. My college was a girl college and there were some male and more female faculty members. Exams were conducted according to the academic calendar released by the college before the start of the semester.
