KAMALA NEHRU COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF DELHI (PROS AND CONS)

Remarks :

The admission process was simple as Delhi University release its cutoff together while some colleges release their cutoff sometimes early. If a Student is from the same background of course like from being a humanities student and in college also opting for humanities then their top 4 subjects percent will be calculated without deduction but if someone from science or another background is opting for different subjects like someone from science opting humanities than some percentage of their top 4 subjects will be deducted. In some coed colleges girls get benefits of getting admission with some less percent than the normal mentioned percentage on the cutoff list and this benefit is not available in any Girls' college of Delhi University.

Course Curriculum Overview :

In my course, the faculty is quite good as some professors are very good at making students understand concepts and the professors mostly give lectures and make us to write long notes which helps a lot during exam times. The term exam was always on time but the gap between subjects are very like 1 Day gap or no gap which became hectic for us students as we don't get time to clear our minds before moving on to the next subject and the answers are lengthy not very difficult but time for writing should be increased.

Internships Opportunities :

The placement cell of my college is very active and works a lot to bring companies to our college for placement opportunities to students but most small companies come who are quite new and most students of commerce background get the placement or internship opportunities and it's very hard for students of humanities background to get a good placement or internship.

Placement Experience :

From the 5th semester, most students become eligible for campus placements. Mostly various small companies visit those who are newly started working. The highest package is INR 6 LPA and the average is INR 3 LPA.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure is quite reasonable for students of general backgrounds who come from a normal family and as for those coming from ews (economically weaker section) or minority category students who have financial issues are provided with different facilities and quotas to assist them for smooth studying. Currently, I am doing an internship with a blind school provided by the college society only.

Campus Life :

The annual fest is mostly conducted in February and the month of January and February is the month of fest season at the University of Delhi. The library is big on 2 floors with a large number of books and e-resources available. The classroom is large with a good amount of fans and windows for fresh air. There are various societies in college which provide an opportunity for different extracurricular activities and the basketball court is there and the ground of the college is quite good. Different social groups are like Equal opportunity cell, Consumer club, Rise cell, Green beans Society

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I was from PCM (science) background in 12th board and I literally wanted to shift in the course of the art. And science students always look for what best subject in art which is ECONOMICS and we choose this. And the second reason is Economics is something challenging and It provides you to think bigger and know about the money and market. So these are the reason I selected this course. My class has 40 students and except for the Micro teacher, No one teaches very well. We are the first batch of CUET and we just got approx. 3 months to prepare for the semester with an increase in the subject. So that is always hard when you are getting experimented with new things.

Placement Experience:

Students from 2nd year or 5th semester are eligible for pre-placement offers. However, 1st-year students are eligible for internship opportunities only. Around 40 companies visited campus with their placement offers for Bcom. Hons, Bcom, B.A Hons Economics, & some BSc courses. Companies included some Big4 companies like KPMG, Deloitte, E&Y, Wipro, HCL & many more. My plan after getting the degree is to go for MBA or MA in Economics.

Students become eligible from the 6th sem to sit for placements. Companies offering 6 lac to 37 lac visit the campus every year. I was placed in a multinational company with a very good package. People from stats maths and eco courses have higher chances of placement though.

Placement Experience:

From the first year onwards we are eligible for internship opportunities by internship cell. During our 6th sem, we are eligible for job interviews. The placement cell is working hard to review their work in a well-mannered form but still, they lag in bringing big companies to college for on-campus placement drives. Companies like byjus, Genpact, etc. came for placements and they offer full-time jobs for 4-6 lacs package varying from the post they offer. The highest package could go up to 7-8 lacs and on average it's 2 lacs. They offered a various range of profiles to get into. The percentage should be more than 65% at least to get the final placement done smoothly. Plans for graduation are going for higher students in this subject only who want to have a PhD degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

All faculty members were helpful throughout the course and encouraged me to excel in other domains as well. But some teachers just didn't care about the students and were attending classes just for the sake of it. My college was a girl college and there were some male and more female faculty members. Exams were conducted according to the academic calendar released by the college before the start of the semester.
