IIT Bombay BTech 2024: Cutoff, Fees, Placement, Admission

IIT Bombay BTech Admissions 2024 will start in the month of June 2024. IIT Bombay offers BTech as its falgship program where admissions are granted as per JEE Advanced score followed by JoSAA counselling. JoSAA has released the round 1 – 6 cutoff for IIT Bombay. JEE Main registrations 2024 are ongoing now and the last date to register is November 30, 2023. JEE Main 2024 will also be conducted in 2 Phases i.e Phase 1 and Phase 2. Candidates having a valid JEE Main score need to register for JEE Advanced, where registration will commence in April 2024. NTA has released the JEE Main 2024 Session 1 and Session 2 Exam dates. IIT Bombay BTech Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who are seeking admissions in B.Tech IIT Bombay should fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

The applicant should have 10+2 with a JEE score within the cut-offs ranges of the institute.

IIT Bombay BTech Admission 2024

There are various stages for the IIT Bombay BTech selection criteria, the stages are as follows:

JEE Main
JEE Advanced
JoSAA counselling

Stage 1: JEE Main: The primary admission criteria for IIT Bombay BTech program is the JEE Advanced score based on which the candidates are called for JoSAA counselling. Before appearing for the JEE Advanced exam, the candidates need to clear JEE Main exam which works as a screening test in the whole process. JEE Main exam is held twice a year for the UG undergraduate courses. Check JEE Main Pattern and Syllabus.

Stage 2: JEE Advanced: The second stage in the process of selection is the JEE Advanced exam score. The candidates who qualify for the JEE Main exam are then required to take JEE Advanced exam. Once the exam is over, the candidate is then shortlisted for the JoSAA counselling based on the cut off percentile.

Stage 3: JoSAA Counselling: Candidates seeking admission in the BTech program of IIT Bombay are required to undergo JoSSA registration and counselling confirming the IIT Bombay in the choice of the institute (online). Thereafter, a rank list is released by JoSAA for different categories.

How to apply for IIT Bombay BTech program?

The candidate can visit the official site of JoSAA to apply for the B.Tech program at IITs.
The candidates need to enter the academic and JEE scores.
In choice filling, you can choose your desired IIT institute. JoSAA allocates your desired institute based on your merit and overall rank.
To get the desired IIT institute, the candidate should come under the cut off range of the desired institute or decided by JoSAA.
Register for JEE Advanced exam.
Enter the personal, academic details and upload Scanned Images of Candidate’s Photograph and Signature.
Pay the application fee through Debit card/ Credit card/ Net banking/ UPI/ PAYTM by following the online instructions.
After successful payment, print the Confirmation Page and keep it for future reference.

Scanned copies of academic details.
Scanned passport size photograph of the candidate in JPG/JPEG format (size between 10 kb–200 kb).
Scanned clear signature of the candidate in JPG/JPEG format (size between 4 kb–30 kb).

The course curriculum is outdated as per global standards but within India, it is still among the best and most updated Though it does not hamper your learning as the basics are made clear, and the research faculty is doing is in very advanced stages, hence if students are genuinely interested, they can reach out to Professors and learn about the latest happenings all around the world in their field. The faculty-student ratio is also good at IIT Bombay at about 1:10. In some departments it may differ. Professors are among the best not only in India but in the world. You will find all types here, those who are into research, those who like teaching, and those who are a mix of both. The rule is simple if you want to learn something you'll get the best for it here, but you'll have to ask for it. Term exams are tough and the timeline is very strictly followed.

Best 4 Years of life

I initially chose BTech. in Civil Engineering and changed to Mechanical in 2nd year. My main reason to choose this course was the reputation of the Institute and somewhat interest in the working of machines. Faculty: Student ratio is not clearly known to me but excluding TAs, it may be near 1:15. All the facilities are top class and have excellent knowledge in their field but the teaching of some of them may not be as good. Exams are usually a moderate level. These can be passed easily with just a day of study before exams.

Peaceful place in this chaotic world

In Mechanical Engineering, core courses are easy to score. But some electives like CS or Statistics courses are harder. Endsem is every 6 months and mid-sem every 3 months. Exams are easy to pass if you attend all lectures and practice from reference books. The faculty-student ratio should be around 1:30.

I chose this course after discussing it with my coaching teachers, a few seniors from IITs, and relatives, and also because according to my rank, the Mechanical department was the best I would have got at IIT Bombay. Also, I was quite interested in motors and the mechanics behind them. The faculty-student ratio is approximately 16-18 students per faculty which are quite decent. The minimum qualification to be a faculty at IIT Bombay is a Ph.D. Most of the faculties here are highly qualified and have taken degrees from the world's top few colleges or universities. The teaching method of the faculty is very good, slides are provided for every lecture. Tutorial problems with solutions are there for a better grasp of the concepts. There are teaching assistants for each course whom we can contact at any time for any academic queries/ issues/ doubts. There are two term exams - mid-sem and Endsem. Midsem is conducted approximately mid-way through the semester (approx. 2 months after sem starts) and end-sem at the end.

I like the course and its interesting applications. The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1 to 20, but it varies from department to department, and in class size. the faculty at IIT Bombay are mostly very renowned in their area of research most of them have Ph.D. degrees from foreign institutes or very well-known institutes of the world. and at IIT Bombay there is a well-defined grading and exam policy and every professor tries to stick to that. mostly it depends on professor to professor how he is going to assess the student some takes exam periodically some gives homework, and assignments most of the courses have and mid-semester exam and an end-semester exam.

There is no "Maje hi maje" after cracking JEE the real life starts now

I have some interest towards fluid mechanics and kinematics during my jee preparation and after getting selected at IIT Bombay in the mock round of counselling I was pretty sure that I would pursue my Btech here at IIT Bombay There are 220 students(including dual year students too) and there are around 40-50 professors in the Mechanical department of IIT Bombay but usually, in Btech course there would be sections divided of 70 per batch and one professor is allowed to each section for a theory course Most of the professors are experienced members and have vast knowledge of the subject you could say that almost every prof has completed his Mtech/PhD in a good reputation college like IITs, IISc, ..etc some did their PhD from foreign universities too If you attend classes regularly and have a healthy discussion with professors/TAs or even with your batchmates about the course would give you a better idea of it and you can easily ace the exams

IIT Bombay Beautiful 4 yrs of my life

Most of the faculty members in our Chemical Engineering department are Ph.D. scholars. Their teaching methods are quite extraordinary. They conduct weekly tests, mid-semester exams, and end-semester exams. The end-semester exams are a bit tricky and difficult as they expect you to learn the respective course very thoroughly. The total batch has 170 students but they are divided into sections of 85 students each. Both sections have a different set of teaching faculty but the same syllabus.
