IIT Jodhpur invites applications for admission to PhD programs in a variety of subjects for the 2023-24 academic year. Applicants with a Master's Degree in Engineering, Pharmacy, Agricultural Science, Science, Humanities, Social Sciences, or Management can apply online for IIT Jodhpur PhD Admissions 2023. Students who have completed a four-year bachelor's degree program are also eligible to apply for PhD admission. MBBS students who want to pursue further research are also eligible for the PhD program at IIT Jodhpur.

IIT Jodhpur PhD Eligibility Criteria

For Full-Time Candidates:

  • A master’s degree in Engineering / Science / Pharmacy / Management / Agricultural Science / Humanities and Social Sciences with at least 60%. 

OR

  • MBBS with MD/MS / BVSc with MVSc / BDS with MDS / BPTh with MPTh / BOTh with MOTh or equivalent with at least 60%

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree of minimum 4 years in Engineering / Science / Medicine / Pharmacy / Agricultural Science / Veterinary Science or equivalent with at least 70% marks

Note: Candidates from SC / ST are given a 5% relaxation of marks. 

Sponsored/External/Part-Time Candidates:

  • For Part Time programs, in addition to the criteria mentioned above, they should have a minimum of 2 years of work experience after graduating.
  • They must also have a 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale (Gen/Gen EWS/OBC) or 5.5/10 for SC/ST/PwD.
  • Degrees like MBBS with MD / MS, BVSc with MVSc, BDS with MDS, BPT with MPT, or any other equivalent degree combined with a 7.0 CGPA can apply. 

IIT Jodhpur PhD Admission Guidelines

Admissions for the PhD programs are entrance based. IIT Jodhpur conducts a written test. However, candidates with valid GATE / JRF / UGC-NET scores, need not sit for the written test. 

  • The steps to apply for the test are as mentioned below: 
    • Visit the official website of IIT Jodhpur. 
    • However the mouse pointer over ACADEMICS > Admissions > PhD> Apply Online. 
    • Click on the Application Link in the new webpage. 
    • Register yourself, and then log in with the credentials created. 
    • Fill in the application form. 
    • Pay the application fee of INR 300. 
  • Applicants shortlisted for the test must bring along a printout of the duly submitted application form. 
  • Based on the merit achieved in the exam, candidates will be called for an interview. 
  • Candidates shortlisted for the interview must bring the application form, as well as the GATE Score Card if applicable. 
  • Selected applicants will be informed within a week of the interview.

IIT Jodhpur PhD Duration

The PhD program is structured into eight semesters. The first two semesters are devoted to elective courses. Students with a Master's Degree must complete at least 12 credits, whereas those with a Bachelor's Degree must complete 30.

After completing the coursework, students must sit for the comprehensive examination. It consists of a written exam as well as an interview.

IIT Jodhpur PhD Financial Assistance 

Financial aid is available to applicants enrolling in a standard PhD program. GATE-approved applicants are paid INR 34,000 for the first two years and INR 36,000 for the third and fourth years. Non-science background applicants may also apply for financial aid.
