The Indian Institute of Technology Patna, also known as IIT Patna is a public research university and technological institute. The Government of India has designated it as an Institute of National Importance. IIT Patna is one of the newest IITs, having been founded on August 6, 2008, by an act of the Indian Parliament. IIT Patna Courses & Fees

IIT Patna provides a 4-year undergraduate BTech programme. There are a total of nine specialties offered in the BTech programme. IIT Patna provides two-year MTech and MSc programs at the postgraduate level. At the doctoral level, PhD degrees are also available at IIT Patna. 

582 seats in IIT Patna BTech programs are available for admission through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Advanced, which is taken by applicants to the IITs after completing 10+2 years of education. Eight semesters of the curriculum are spaced out over four academic years. Each semester, a student enrolls in five to six theory courses in addition to laboratory courses. For admission to the IIT Patna flagship B.Tech program, applicants are required to secure a valid rank in JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counseling.   1. For both UG and PG students, IIT Patna offers the Merit Cum Means Scholarships and other numerous scholarships under the Central Scheme Scholarships to help them financially and cover their academic costs. The following list includes a few of the institute's scholarships. 
  2. Merit Cum Means Scholarship: IIT Patna provides MCM scholarships to deserving and needy undergraduate and graduate students participating in 2-year M.Sc. programs. A student must have a minimum SPI/CPI of 6.50 and a family income of no more than INR 4.5 lakhs per year to qualify for the MCM Scholarship. Students who are given the MCM Scholarship get a monthly payment of INR 1000 for two semesters along with free tuition.
  3. Top Class Education Scheme for SC students: The Scholarship is specifically created to support SC students financially and promote high-quality education. IIT Patna offers a total of 12 scholarships to SC students whose annual family income is less than INR 6 lakhs. Students who receive the SC Scholarship Scheme award are excluded from paying the full tuition amount.   4. The Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students is open to undergraduate students and is supported by the MHRD, Department of Higher Education. IIT Patna Campus Life And Events

The campus of IIT Patna is situated on 501 acres (203 hectares) of land in Amhara, Bihta, 35 kilometers from Patna. Kapil Sibal laid the cornerstone for the IIT Patna, Bihta Campus in 2011. IIT Patna began its new academic year in July 2015 at its permanent site in Bihta. On July 25, 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Bihta campus. Before this, the Naveen Government Polytechnic used a temporary 10-acre (4.0 ha) campus in Pataliputra colony, Patna, where the institute was housed in restored buildings.

IIT Patna's campus culture is fantastic, with its coding festival called NWOC (Njack Winter of code). During the first month, students are exposed to a variety of hard tasks.
