I have known about McGill University since I was around the age of 15. I discovered it one day when I was walking the streets of Montreal with my family. Four years later, I found myself intrigued by McGill, it's a beautiful campus and it's a wide choice of great programs. The admission process, from what I remember, was pretty straightforward.

Fees:

I pay approximately $1,800 per semester for a total of around $3,200 per year, depending on the number of courses taken and extra fees within courses. For my excellent grades during my second year, I was awarded a prize called the "Raymond L. Conklin Prize". This is a prize awarded to a student in the faculty for $375.

Because of it's reputation in research and because it was an English school in my area. I also really did not want to leave the province I am living in so McGill seemed like the clear choice. It also had an option to apply to honours in my second year which I really liked as it would motivate me to stay on top of my work in my first year.

Fees:

The fees are well explained in the fee-overview that is available at the beginning of every semester.

The cost, as well as the opportunity to get away from my hometown. Plus, my college was recommended to me by many of my mentors and peers. I was also particularly interested in double majoring in econ and compsci, and I heard both programs here were pretty good. Most of the other colleges I got into were engineering focused or forced me to choose one or the other.

Fees:

I'm not really sure, I'm on an entrance bursary so I really only pay for books and board. Uh, from what I know there are several opt out fees in our tuiton

It is the most elite/highest ranked university in my province (Quebec), as well as highly distinguishable worldwide and in Canada. Further, as a science major, I was heavily influenced by the research-centered ideology of McGill.

Fees:

My tuition is around 1500$ per semester but it fluctuates depending on how many credits I'm taking (14-17). You need to pay more for a summer course. There are some administration fees but you can opt out. Similarly, there is health care but you can opt out.

Ques. In what ways can McGill University surpass the reputation of the University of Toronto?

● Top Answer By Deepika Kunwar on 03 Dec 20

Ans. World Rankings are instantaneous; they change annually and are a little vague. McGill is a top Canadian university in global QS rankings, depending on which survey you use, there are many ways McGill tops the ranks among similar universities. Having one of the world's best medical programs, it also has an excellent life sciences program. Location: Montreal also scores Toronto impressively for affordability and rating employer operation. The above is based on a survey of domestic and foreign graduate employers who look at the cities from which they prefer to hire. Both cities are in the top ten for their desirability, but Toronto is still ahead of the 10th ranking of this metric, which ranks first. Toronto is English while McGill is based in Montréal in the French province of Quebec. Toronto is English speaking. However, most courses at the university are held in English, and documentation of English competence is a prerequisite for the application.  There is a considerably larger population of students at the University of Toronto with 93,081 students registered in the academic year 2018-19. Of these, 20,296 (22%) students were graduate students and 23,019 (25%), foreign students. This is a lot of students, Toronto has one of the largest schools of students among institutions.Read more

Ques. Which university should I go to for a master’s in Analytics, University of Cincinnati or McGill?

● Top Answer By Parth Patel on 03 Feb 21

Ans. The engineering and IT schools at the University of Cincinnati work alongside each other on many aspects including analytics too. The IT school has a reputation for having the fastest growth in the entire university. P&G, GE, Cincinnati Bell, Great American Insurance, Western-Southern Life, Kroger, Macy’s, are some of the companies with which the school partnered which means great placement opportunities. The Co-op program offered by the college is also the best you can get in the country. McGill University is ranked at 51st place in Best Global Universities by US News meanwhile the University of Cincinnati is ranked at 143rd place in National universities in the US. If you wish to choose the college depending on academics, then both the schools share a good reputation in that aspect.  Here’s a quick comparison for you to consider their pros and cons: Content University of Cincinnati McGill University Program MS (Business Analytics) MBA (Business Analytics) Duration 2 Years 2 Years Tuition Fees USD14,949/Year USD33,375/Year Exam Scores (Average) IELTS-7.5 TOEFL-100 GMAT-737 IELTS-7 TOEFL-105 GMAT-660 However, with all its academic excellence the University of Cincinnati is not so well known outside of Ohio. So, after finishing your master's, if your goal is to look for work opportunities outside of the US, you may as well wish to pursue your education at an institute that is known around places. Meanwhile pursuing your Master's degree at McGill University offers better future academics, as well as better employment opportunities. McGill has global recognition and it was ranked at 42nd place in World University Rankings in 2020 by Times Higher Education. The institute is well-reputed around the world which will surely ensure better job prospects for you when you finish your studies.Read more

Ques. What is your review of McGill University?

● Top Answer By Anish Raman on 13 Jan 21

Ans. McGill University is undoubtedly a good place with world-class facility. It is one of the leading universities in North America. It is very competitive and has a broad student support system. The University admits students from all over the globe so you won’t feel out of place here. There were various nationalities and many students communicating 2-4 languages. On average, McGill graduates earn around 40,000 CAD to 108,000 CAD and are placed within 3-6 months of completing their studies. However, the support services for students and their administration staff might not meet your standards. Also, the atmosphere here can be a bit too intense because of their reputation and constant efforts to maintain their standing. Admission wise, being one of Canada's highest-ranking universities, the GPA and admission criteria is also very high. It has an acceptance rate of 41%, an articulate essay and strong recommendations are important. It’s located in Montreal which is a splendid city with great restaurants, nightclubs, and world-class museums a stone's throw from it. McGill is an excellent place providing lots of courses, financial help, facilities, and a good support system. There’s a wide variety of highly skilled faculty for pharmacy, psychology, healthcare, the business sector, sciences, education, engineering, music, arts, law, environmental and agriculture, computer sciences and many more. The dorms are located near the hill and the lake, suitable for comfort in the autumn and spring and for skating and hot chocolate in the winter. Some of the sleeping places are situated next to the Mond Royal, the Montreal "Central Park" featuring footpaths, cycling pads, and skiing trails. The stunning mountains are within 2 hours for climbing and skiing. Students are crucial, lessons are rigorous.Read more

Ques. What is it like to study physics at McGill University?

● Top Answer By Jerry Kroc on 13 Jan 21

Ans. The subject is very challenging and will definitely push you to do better. Your problem-solving abilities will improve while you pursue this problem, sometimes requiring endless hours of deep thinking. In final year you will find all this helpful, especially when you pick up advanced subjects. Homework and classes will take up most of your time and during exams, a crib sheet will be provided to you to solve problems that you have never heard of before. This is to give you a better foundation in all the major fields of your subject and might even cause a burnout. Still, with proper breaks and consistency you will definitely find it rewarding. Learning Physics at McGill University is for the development of problem-solving skills. With intense activities and deep thought, you’d be engrossed in and cultivated by the subject. Faculties actively look for (talented/interested) students looking for research and internships. Read more
