People often pose the question that despite the high fees, why do some people still prefer IIMs over FMS? Well, I think I can answer it with confidence since my father is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad. He told me that he was able to transform into a new person all because of IIM Ahmedabad. He was able to achieve many impossible things just because he chose IIM Ahmedabad. I have mentioned a few points that will help you understand what I mean
So IIM Ahmedabad is still preferred over FMS. It has its own brand value which will continue to shine over the years.
If you are a General Engineer Male, even with a perfect CAT score, getting into IIM Bangalore is nearly impossible. Your 12th-grade point average is low. Your UG grades are even worse. If you are not an engineer, you may have a chance with a high CAT percentile, but there is no guarantee.
IIMB looks for consistent and high academic performance throughout the 10th, 12th, and UG years.
Over the years, IIMB has discovered that students who perform well in the academic program typically have a consistently good academic record throughout their school, high school, and graduation levels, in addition to demonstrating sufficiently high aptitude as measured by the CAT (Common Admission Test of the IIMs)/GMAT. As a result, IIMB evaluates candidates' suitability for the PGP program using a variety of criteria, including academic performance in school, high school, and graduation programs, as well as CAT/GMAT scores.
One of my friends studied at IIM Bangalore. According to him, work experience is definitely important for IIM Bangalore.
This would be an ideal profile suitable to be a part of IIM Bangalore.
Here’s presenting different components and their weightage for different rounds like- GD, PI, and even WAT. These are as follows:
Components | Weightage |
Quantitative Aptitude (QA) | 10 |
Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC) | 14 |
Data Interpretation/Logical Reasoning (DILR) | 16 |
CAT score (QA+VARC+DILR) (Total) | 40 |
Professional course/Work experience | 8 |
High School | 20 |
Intermediate | 10 |
Undergraduate | 20 |
This is the weightage that determines your selection. It is suggested that you work really hard for your CAT exams to get admission to IIM Bangalore. Make sure you have proper work experience.
The simple answer is yes, verified certificates from edX do add value to your resume. But the point is that only adding value to your resume is not sufficient. You should broaden your approach and consider this certification more than just adding value. Use it to inculcate skills that will help you in this fast-paced world. If you do this certification wholw_heartedly you will gain confidence to present yourself for the interview and also give the impression that you are constantly working towards improving yourself.
So the certificate itself won't be much beneficial in the long run but the skills acquired from it will.
It is quite obvious that if you are already doing a job that gives you 13 lakh per annum, it is your naivete if you want to join IIM and take a loan of 18 lakhs.

Think twice before making this decision and in my opinion, it is better to gain the hands-on experience that embarks you towards success in your life early, than spending a huge amount of money doing an MBA and then pursuing the job.
You can take the ring road near Jayadeva Hospital to the green line JP Nagar metro station. IIM Bangalore is approximately 4.4 kilometers away. From the college, you can take an auto or a cab. By car, it will take about 15 minutes to get to the metro.
Namma Metro station IIM Bangalore is located on the Red Line of the Bangalore Metro. This Namma Metro station is currently under construction and is expected to be completed and come to use at the end of March 2023.
Admissions are based on applications received through the Common Admission Test (CAT), which is held in November each year at various locations across India by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). Short-listed candidates must take a written test and a personal interview, as well as provide three Letters of Reference from people who are familiar with their academic or professional performance.
The final decision is depended on CAT performance, Scholastic Achievement, Work Experience, Writing Ability Test performance, and an interview.
Your chances of getting a call from IIM Bangalore are only if you belong to the top 10 CAT toppers with a 100% percentile.
Selection criteria are irrespective of anything including the work experience you mentioned in your question. The only chance you might get a call is if some of the toppers have a very bad academic record. In this way, the next candidates in line might get the golden opportunity, which is rare.
To be honest, your graduation score might make it quite difficult to get a call from IIM B, but you can expect a miracle if you have scored a 100 percentile or a minimum of 99.5 + percentile in CAT. Only after getting such exceptional scores, your 2 years of work experience might give an advantage as IIM Bangalore gives preference to the experienced candidates along with the percentile mentioned.
