If you aren’t sure about specialization, choosing IIT Kharagpur MBA is better. The institute has a great management faculty base. The institute offers good placement opportunities in the Operations domain. During VGSoM IIT Kharagpur placements 2021, the Operations sector had the second-highest placement rate, i.e. 20%. The average CTC for the batch was INR 18.44 LPA.

How is IMT Ghaziabad if you get a PGDM (finance) here?

IMT Ghaziabad consistently ranks amongst the top 20 MBA colleges in the country. In terms of exposure, you will have the opportunity to interact with good visiting faculty and your batchmates will be people who have ranked amongst the top percentile in CAT. The college also has a vibrant campus life with lots of extra-curricular activities. However, like all private-funded colleges, there are certain seats allotted to the management quota.

When considering attending IMT Ghaziabad, it is important to consider your career goals. If you are looking for a pure finance role (PGDM) in front-end Investment banking or PE, IMT Ghaziabad may not be the best fit, as core finance roles are limited. However, there are opportunities for corporate finance jobs and banks visit campus for recruitment.

How good is NL Dalmia for MBA in finance? My other options are SIES (MMS) & Welingkar (PGDM). Any help will be appreciated?

Before joining any college it's better to perform some research on it. The foremost thing is you need to know all the placement details from alumni or the students who are currently studying in that college. Don’t choose a college based only on their advertisement.

Dalmia NL, SIES (MMS), and Welingker(PGDM) all these colleges are well-reputed institutions in Mumbai for management studies. I have friends pursuing their studies at these colleges. Based on what I heard, I will say N L Dalmia is the best college among these three. It has better placement records, ranking, and reputation.

  • For Finance specialization, N L Dalmia has a limited student intake, i.e. 60 seats.
  • Additionally, the institute has Mumbai's first Bloomberg Finance Lab.
  • It has a placement average of 100%. The average package for placement in the finance stream is around 6.5 lacs, while the highest package offered is above 13 lacs.

So, N L Dalmia is definitely a better choice. But before making a decision, do your own research first.

Which college is best or an MBA in Finance, IFIM or IBA in Bangalore? Are there other colleges for finance?

MC
Mousumi Chaterjee Posted On : May 24th, 2021
PGDM Human Resources, Xavier School of Management (2017)

Between the colleges you mentioned in the question, IFIM is better for an MBA in Finance. I know a few people from the institute and they had good things to say about the program.

Here’s a brief highlight of the same which can give you an idea about the course.

Average CTC

10.2 LPA

Highest CTC

16 LPA

Course Fee

12 LPA

Apart from the institutes mentioned in the question, there are many other management institutes that can be a better option for an MBA in Finance.

If you are looking only for Finance specialization, there are some really great management institutes offering banking and management courses such as Symbiosis, Jain University, Times Pro, ITM, etc.

Which is better, IMI Delhi PGDM or IMT-G PGDM Finance?

AB
Ankit Bhansali Posted On : March 3rd, 2023
MBA from International Management Institute (Graduated 2021)

Both the options you mentioned, IMI Delhi PGDM and IMT G Finance are good in their own individual aspects. So you should rather be asking which is better for you. Now this depends on what you really want from your PGDM. By choosing PGDM Finance you will limit yourself only to the Finance sector, whereas a PGDM core will give you a chance to explore various domains before selecting your specialization. The former is a good option if you are certain about your interest in Finance and want to excel in that sector no matter what while the latter is good if you are open to all options.

Talking about IMI Delhi in general, the B School offers an abundance of opportunities through student bodies and other student driven activities. Moreover the additional locational advantage is what makes it a fairly good option. The batch size is also not too big and thus balances the student teacher ratio.

Placements are pretty decent at IMI Delhi. The IMI Delhi average package (overall) offered during 2023 placements was INR 17.01 LPA. For PGDM, PGDM (B&FS), and PGDM (HR) the average package stood at INR 17.20 LPA, INR 16.48 LPA, and INR 15.58 LPA, respectively.

The primary highlight of the B School is its student exchange program wherein students from foreign universities join the B School for a fixed period while students from IMI Delhi visit a foreign university in exchange.

All these factors make IMI Delhi a very good choice in comparison to IMT G.

What are some tips regarding MBA (finance) from IMT Ghaziabad? I'd be joining the college in June.

MS

IMT Ghaziabad

Choosing IMT Ghaziabad is a great decision. My brother and his friends have just passed out from IMT Ghaziabad by completing their MBA in finance, and here are some handy tips from their perspective.

  • There is no doubt that you need to study hard in the finance stream as competition is fairly high. However, do not forget to indulge with seniors and socialize as much as possible, because MBA is not only about bookish knowledge. Yes, MBA is incomplete without social interaction and practical knowledge.
  • Make sure you are well versed with MS Excel. Most of the concepts are practiced in Excel especially the finance functions.
  • Observe the Stock markets (Indian & global), develop a taste for Derivatives, Futures & Options & Investment Management pretty early on.
  • Also, an online certification from a decent platform would certainly help grow your skills and might come in handy in the future.

At the end of the day, remember that these 2 years are going to be one of the best years of your life. Therefore make sure to make the most of every moment by socializing alongside taking care of your academics. Also, MBA in finance is a fairly good course with lucrative jobs in the industry. Henceforth, if you build a good background in the finance stream, you will have ample job opportunities with good remuneration.

How suitable is Great Lakes, Gurgaon for an MBA in Finance?

AG
Akhil Gujral Posted On : July 6th, 2021
B.E. from Manipal Institute Of Technology (2012)

I have a friend who is also an MBA Finance enthusiast. He was shortlisted for Great Lakes, Gurgaon- specifically for Finance. My answer would be more conversational and definitely does not intend to be any sort of advice as eventually, it is your call.

For studies, Great Lakes is a good choice to opt for. But here, what happens to be even more prioritized is the job profile of working under Finance.

The industry of Finance specifically has a range of 10% of jobs to offer along with 50% reserved for marketing and for operations, which is 30%. Last year, 21% of the recruiters were from BFSI out of only a small range of 10% were provided a job in Finance. Others are compelled to opt for sales. Many students end up opting for it as MBA Finance leaves them indebted and they are in dire need of a job to pay off the loan.

If you have enough confidence, do go for it. But then, if you consider yourself to be and stay your average self, there is something you need to work on.

What should be preference order of IMT Ghaziabad courses- PGDM, PGDM marketing, PGDM finance, PGDM DCP, PGDM banking, insurance and financial services?

DC
Dhruv Chatterjee Posted On : January 25th, 2023
PGDM from Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (Graduated 2022)

IMT Ghaziabad offers a variety of courses that cater to various specializations. These courses have been listed and explained in their order of preference

  • PGDM Marketing/PGDM Full Time (Marketing): This is the most coveted program among IMT students mainly because today its alumni have acquired top positions in big firms. Other major reasons include top-notch faculty, great internship and placement opportunities in terms of role and CTC, IMT’s eligibility, and excellent performances in recognized marketing and strategy B Schools competitions.
  • PGDM Finance/PGDM Full Time (Finance): This one is most suitable for aspirants who are interested in Finance. However, this program offers lesser opportunities than the Marketing program in terms of role and CTC.
  • PGDM Full Time (Operations): This program offers opportunities similar to that of Finance. But the batch size of PGDM Operations is smaller than PGDM Finance, so it may be easier to secure an internship/final placement, but the opportunities come less compared to Finance.
  • PGDM DCP: DCP or the Dual Country Program is for those who are keen to get international exposure. Compared to an MBA from a foreign university, this program is cheaper and yet offers an opportunity to explore a different culture and learn to make decisions in an international context. This is best suitable for those who are in the Marketing domain.
  • PGDM Banking and Financial Services (PGDM-BFS): This program was launched in 2019 and is relatively newer. It targets the core Banking and Finance sector. While the MBA program aims to provide a holistic view of management, this program solely focuses on Banking and Finance.
  • PGDM Full Time (HR): This is the least taken course and offers very less in terms of opportunities.

The courses have been arranged preference-wise so will make it easy for you to choose one.

BH
Barkha Hirani Posted On : April 9th, 2021
Studied MBA Marketing at IIT Patna

ISBR is considered one of the best B-Schools in Bangalore. One of my friends has studied there and it has helped him in shaping his personality.

Here are the following reasons why ISBR is an idle college for PGDM.

  1. The faculty of ISBR is professional and skill. They will help you and provide you with all the training like panel discussion, pre-placement talks, seminars, workshops, industrial visits, and education tours.
  2. Top recruiters like Morgan Stanley, KPMG, Goldman Sachs, and many more have visited the campus. The institute also invites guests from various backgrounds to interact with students.
  3. The updated curriculum gives industrial knowledge and helps you learn about the market needs.
  4. The placement cell of ISBR is good. It will also assist and trains you for an interview before final placement. The recruiters also provide decent CTC packages.
  5. ISBR helps students gaining soft skills and presentation skills.

The following table shows the placement statistics of the PGDM Finance at ISBR:

Highest Package

28 LPA

Average Package

5.8 LPA

Ranking

1st among New Generation B-Schools by DM B-School Survey

Awards

Best B-School of Year by Public Relations Council of India

Therefore, you can join ISBR for the PGDM course. As along with theoretical knowledge, the institute also grooms students in gaining practical knowledge through the various industrial visit and pre-placement talks. So, if you are thinking to join ISBR, then you must go for it.
